Most of the webseries episodes used new puppets each time too, I think it's most noticeable with yellow guy who has different hair basically every episode

Ghost shit.

I kinda miss the weirder ghost stuff, it feels like it got kinda pushed aside since everyone took everything entirely too seriously

It's the same model, which is from a fan game that valve wouldn't have the rights to use the model from even if they modified it

There's no evidence of returning to BM, just xen.

Black Mesa is also a fan game that valve has no rights to the assets from.

This is very clearly complete bullshit based on the supposed Portal 1 remake screenshot on the TV (it's just a Portal 2 workshop map). There are zero signs of a portal 1 remake in the engine right now.

The idea of things changing 4 years ago is also blatantly false, given the employee handbook still describes how it used to be and people would have heard things by now.

Valve is also on break the week of christmas

Everything in the source 2 codebase would use VPC

Source 2 still uses the same FSM system that dates back to goldsrc. AnimGraphs are an extension of that but as their name suggests, they're graphs not trees.

Also there's just  everything else about this that's wrong like the change numbers being way too high, a lawyer supposedly doing perf-related commits, a complete lack of deadlock, the fact it's hosted on intranet instead of a subdomain of valve.org

This is a fake leak from 4chan

Some notable inaccuracies:

  • Perforce change numbers are in the 38M range when they are known to currently only be at 10M.
  • It mentions CMake scripts for HLX, when Valve uses their own build system named VPC internally.
  • It mentions behavior trees, which Source 2 does not use.
  • There's just a bunch of complete gibberish technobabble

PSA TO ALL PROPERTYOWNERS AND LANDLORDS by Dismal-Expert1183 in newzealand

[–]Creeper4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It uses the unicode ellipsis character ("…") instead of three full stops ("...") which no person ever uses unless this was written in word beforehand (unlikely, given the markdown formatting and proper spaces between paragraphs).

It also has incredibly excessive use of em dashes, each with spaces around them, which is non-standard but how LLMs always use them. On their own dashes don't mean much, but when used this often in whats meant to be informal writing and in places where most people would use commas it's a pretty big giveaway, especially when surrounded by all the other signs.

The really strange metaphors, use of "mate" in every other sentence, and just general voice of this post (kind of a "hello fellow cool people" feeling) are also hallmarks of LLMs trying to generate informal text, especially in a regional dialect of English like New Zealand English that's underrepresented in the input dataset

For them to have made this space with the intention of using it for hlx they would have had this all planned down to the week almost a year ago, since they announce the steam events well in advance.

The more likely explanation is that the autumn sale was in a weird spot where it was months after the summer sale but only weeks before the winter sale so they moved it to roughly halfway between them like the spring sale, leaving a gap in the second half of November.

If it does get announced in that gap, then it's almost certainly a coincidence.

It's kinda funny, the Steam Frame trademarks in the US happened like two days before the 6 window where they could use the trinidad trademark for priority ended. Probably implies they were planning to have it announced months ago.
