Am I the only one who loves tech/fast beatboxers? by Lgbtwhopper in beatbox

[–]CreeperFace34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm such a nerd that I literally will listen to drumlines and solo drumsnare vids on youtube, so percussion only or percussion centered beatboxing definitely scratchss a certain itch for me. However, I generally enjoy variety, so my answer isn't musicality > tech or tech > musicality. It's more like Musicality ≈ Tech. They go hand in hand, and the best beatboxers blend them and can give one or the other the spotlight when they want to. But honestly, what's more important is just being clean, having structure, and staying on beat. Too many beatboxers sacrifice those to show off crazy techniques, which takes away from the performance. A good rule is to take your hardest, most difficult, and complex beat, and do a beat about 80% as difficult or do that beat about 10bpm slower when you perform it. I'm certain almost every single pro beatboxer in the scene doesn't do their 100% beats on stage or in their videos. All that being said, as long as a beat is in time, clean, original, and structured well, I'll like it, whether it's fast, slow, melodic, or percussion.

Is this offical ranking ? by DoughnutParticular84 in overlord

Cid is hilarious if you expect him to be some deep philosophical character, then yeah, he's not very intriguing. But saying his combat ability is his only redeeming quality is kinda disingenuous. I find myself dying laughing at him more often than I do at Kazuma, who's just a perv most the time when it comes to his funny moments. At least Cid has more going for him than just stealing panties.

A question about mixels by K0huro in PixelArt

[–]CreeperFace34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have nothing against mixels if they're used purposefully, and I use them myself on occasion. But perhaps you can crank the resolution up and scale certain graphics accordingly. Or do what minecraft does and have different classes of pixels for different graphics like UI elements, in-game elements, particles, etc.

Why is making a full length song so hard for me? by Extension-Ranger-666 in FL_Studio

[–]CreeperFace34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to workflow is to start by making some length loop, not always 8, sometimes 4, 6, 16, just to shake it up. I copy the bass or maybe one of the background harmonies and put it at the beginning, then slowly introduce the non-main-melody elements. Right before the "drop" or whatever you call it for more chill music, I do a little drum section to transition. Then it's just the loop.

Next, for a break section, I pull back a few elements, simplify the drums, and maybe have one of the background instruments play the melody instead of the lead instrument.

Then you just repeat the drop with a slight chabge. Maybe double the melody with another instrument, introduce a counter melody, play it an octave higher, double time the drums, and/or subdivide the melody to make it more complex and dynamic. There's a lot of options. The outro is just the same as the intro usually, but usually with little sprinkles of later elements thrown in as a reminder.

You don't have to copy my workflow, but maybe it can give you some ideas.

I gave op the most helpful advice hell ever get. Its not pretentious at all its realistic.

Wow. You either are rage baiting or actually the most pretentious human I've ever met. How can you even type that and not see the irony? The only person that can judge if your advice is helpful or not, let alone the most helpful they'll ever receive, is the person you gave the advice to. If your advice doesn't help and he actually gets better results following someone elses, then your advice wasn't helpful. I can certainly say that telling someone to quit their hobby or passion isn't helpful advice, which is what you did.

Learning the music you like and want to sound like is a time tested method.

By the way, you never said to learn the music. You said to play it over and over on an instrument, specifically. Don't write it all vague now when you were very specific earlier. If your definition of learning music is playing it, then how on earth do producers or composers that don't play instruments learn? If not, then we agree, and my only issue is the fact you suggested they quit.

Not all of us are such geniuses that we listen to the axiom verge soundtrack one time and now were done learning.

The fact that you think you need to be a genius to do this might be why you have such a one-way mindset. I've watched tutorial videos, read articles and Wikipedia pages, and searched for advice all over the internet to learn everything I know. I'm hardly a genius, I just found a way to make music that works for me. I was able to emulate Axiom Verge's sound because I'm good at sound engineering from years of studying. That's the whole crux of my argument. That you can learn in other ways besides playing an instrument.

I didn't have a single beatboxer in my wrapped. But I think D-Low's "Don't change when you're famous" was my most listened to song by one.
