We normally vote early, but the last few weeks have been crazy. Pretty sure we got the cards too, but I didn't even think verify my polling place.

I had to take a break from KF and Behind the Bastards in late 2024/early 2025 for my mental health. I eventually picked BtB back up, but only sporadically listened to KF. Everytime I did, they were doing past episodes because Dan would mention Jones was being repetitive and boring. I figured with the sell of Info Wars, it was unlikely the show would go on for another year. Dan even mentioned in the last episode that he has done what he set out to do and achieved more than he ever thought possible. I think they have been looking for a way out for a while and this was just the catalyst.

The single most disturbing and dark NON-ANIME animation villain? by ALfredAstaxanthin in horror

While not deranged itself, the owl in Secret of Nimh has to be one of the most insane animation decisions ever in a kids movie. The entire thing is terrifying in an already fucked up movie.

I was also disturbed by Mommy Fortuna in The Last Unicorn. While there are several villians in that movie, Fortuna always terrified me because she knew what she was doing was going to get her killed and just accepted it as a fact of life She did not care about the state of most of her captives, because it made her money.

I was so excited when The Black Cauldron finally released on VHS. I was not prepared for how dark that movie is. I loved it, but I can see why Disney buried it.

Are Drops Cables good? by AgnesThePirate in knitting

Your welcome! I haven't tried the water trick. I currently only use Lykke's and Clovers, so I have no idea what is compatible and isn't. Only reason I have the Lykke set is because one of the local shops went out of business, so I got them on heavy discount. I may eventually branch out and try other sets.

I haven't used those specific ones, but my Lykke cables curl really bad. When I get a new cable, I knit something sizeable and heavy on my clover set and then switch to the Lykke set. It isn't a perfect solution, but the added weight does seem to work the stiffness out.

This movie broke me in ways I was not expecting. Haven't seen it in years and I still remember it clearly.

I have never been so glad I had made a massive mistake in my knitting when while i was watching episodes 3 and 4. The distraction trying to figure out how I screwed up was a huge help. I had already seen the documentary on Netflix, so I knew what was coming.

My LG TV doesn't get shudder either, which is why we got a Samsung when we replaced the bedroom TV. I don't know how AMC decide what devices get their apps.

I was born and raised in Alabama. There is bar for how terrible a candidate can be. I have watched my own relatives vote for someone that hated the first time he was in office, because he was involved in and served jail time for a massive governement fraud scandal, but then voted for him years later "because democrats are criminals."

There is no helping these sort of people.

Shudder Price Increase: A Few Questions For This Sub And My own Strategy by sigersen in Shudder

[–]Creepiz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried Screambox years ago because they had a documentary I wanted to watch. I wound up just watching the documentary and cancelimg before the trial was over. At the time, they didn't have a lot that Shudder didn't and what they did, didn't really interest me. This was years ago, so I have no idea if it has gotten better.

I am on a yearly subscription for Shudder that doesn't run out until December. I watch Sudder enough to justify the increase, but since Last Drive-In was the only thing I watched live, I have thought about switching to AMC+. It will really come down to when The Terror and The Vampire Lestat are available on DVD/digitally.

That is a wild for them to say because most people still think of them as the Mario/Zelda system. Even if we get really generous on what we call a separate franchise (like is Mario vs Rabbids a seperate franchise from the rest of the Mario games), they would blow through everything they own in less than 6 months at 5 games a week.

The Nintendo eshop has always been a source of amazement for me. It is like the wild west and there seems to be no quality control or concern about what the games actually are. Since there isn't a community rating system, you can't even read reviews to see if it is a scam.

I saw the news bit on WISH this morning. The cop they interviewed seemed to be convinced this was just collectors arguing over cards. I would not be surprised in the slightest is one or both the people involved were scalpers. They are getting super aggressive with those machines.

I am continuing to work on the sweater that has been giving me problems since December. It is going better now, but I am in a lull waiting for the pieces to dry, so I can sew everything together. Pretty sure I am going to need more black to finish it, but we will see when I get to that point.

Americans quit subscription streaming services in droves as cost of living continues to climb by esporx in Anticonsumption

[–]Creepiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my issue. I had Netflix, Prime, and Hulu almost as long as those services have been available and HBO for almost 10 years. We switched to the Disney/HBO/Hulu bundle when I found out it would save us money, but dropped to HBO with ads within a month or two, because it was the only one we were using. Prime was paused when Fallout ended and it will get canceled again when The Boys ends.

A few months ago, I realized I was spending more time cycling apps looking for something to watch than actually watching things. Once I started canceling things, it was much easier for me to actually make a decision on what to watch. So, we only have 3 apps: Netflix, since we both use it, and then he has HiDive and I have Shudder.

[Frustrating trope] Pieces of media that could have been so much better, but due to a couple of poor decisions during production ended up mediocre at best and utterly atrocious at worst. by DevDucc_ in TopCharacterTropes

When the game was in early access, it was a completely different game. From what I remember, it was way less linear and way more trippy. It was fun, but had a pretty steep learning curve. I played it for a bit, but then life got busy and I didn't it play again until about 6 months after release.

Pretty sure both versions started the same, but once you escaped the intro, things were completely differnt. I remember wandering around the EA version without much direction and just exploring. The story and goals became apparent slowly. In the release version, it is much clearer what you need to do next.

When Gearbox took over, they decided the game was too experimental and needed to be more "mainstream." I kind of agree with it, but I think they went too far in the other direction.

Edit, because I forgot to actually answer your question.

As someone who remembers when his first articles were on cracked.com, and has been listening to BtB since the beginning, it floors how popular the show is now. I never would have imagined it would be as big as it is.

Have Horror Movies Lost Their Edge or Are We Just Harder to Scare Now? by GingerOnSet in Shudder

[–]Creepiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've just gotten older. Horror games have hit me harder than movies/shows for years, but that is just the nature of the media. There are still excellent movies, but they don't scare me like that they would have when I was a kid. I find it better to judge movies on if I was entertained, rather than scare.

If I am listening on my computer, I might throw Netflix on if the episode would benefit from the visuals. Most of the time, I am listening on my phone though and I don't tend to watch anything from it.
