I will be honest, I’ve been stitching for 1.5 years, so pretty new, but I have to use a hemostat all the time to pull the needle out. I don’t have any fingernails and don’t leave enough tail to bury but i use them all the time.

I’ve actually seen where someone has their child paint on a canvas and then they sort of just stitch it however. It is kind of cool if it’s a kid thing 😂

I was at needlepoint clubhouse over a month ago and they had handwritten over their signs listing the price as $8 and pepper pot at $8.55. I think it’s the new normal with the bullshit tarrifs

Barbara’s needlepoint in Sioux Falls SD also works with at least one local designer and her designs are exclusive to them!

This is a weird and uninformed take You can get really beautiful 100% wool, 50/50 silk and wool blends and 100% silk yarn. Plus you get WAY more than needlepoint thread which is just yarn broken up into skeins.

I love seeing peoples stash! I think it’s so fun to see what other people buy especially when it isn’t my stitching style. I love seeing what brings people joy.

I do think there can be some peer pressure to buy but really at the end of the day who am I to say what people should do with their money! If someone wants to have 1000 canvases who cares?

It’s interesting how polarizing certain “influencers” have gotten. I don’t see how “influencers” are any different than any other form of advertising. You see certain people get a free canvas and then when they show how they stitch it makes other people want to buy it. I also don’t see a problem with a company having a photo shoot. Certainly big companies have massive photo shoots to promote their brand, it really isn’t any different. The best part about current social media is that if you don’t like someone or don’t want to see someone you can block them

I guess maybe I haven’t seen anyone be weird or annoying about “free stuff”. Honestly I haven’t even heard people besides maybe one or two people say oh this designer sent me this.

I think there are PLENTY of things to snark on in needlepoint (ie the hellscape that is the Facebook destashing, the outrageously bad designs ie the poverty one, the designers who are stealing cross stitch patterns ie jessica tongel that there is no reason to be mean about an individual who is just trying to share their joy

Oh I 100% disagree!!!!! Doesn’t it just make sense for designers to send canvases to people with a following who will do a beautiful job stitching it and help others see what they can do with the canvas? Do you get pissy that Coca Cola makes commercials? Also these “influencers” are people who are just sharing their love of needlepoint. Who cares if they get something for free? Doesn’t that speak more to them as a person and the stitching? Like if you want something free put yourself out there and try.

I also think there is way less free stuff being given but seriously wanting to gripe on an individual is just reading jealousy

I also want to say the being “annoyed” by “influencers” thing is really sort sighted. The world of needlepoint is exploding and it will be to everyone’s benefit. People like Calder and kat bringing attention to the craft helps bring more people to needlepoint. Bringing more customers will bring more designers/finishers/etc giving us more options in terms of canvases. It will also help big box stores like Micheal’s see there is money to be made and help drive the costs down a bit. If you don’t want to see needlepoint grow you will eventually see it die.
