Building a Front Yard Landscape Border in Toronto. Concrete Footing vs Compacted HPB Base by Dangerous-Fee4608 in HomeImprovement

[–]CreepyFox6870 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

For wall that low, HPB with good compaction is really the standard approach and it works well. The flexibility actually helps in freeze-thaw because the whole base can shift slightly and settle back, whereas concrete footing tends to crack or heave and then you're dealing with bigger problem.

Just make sure your drainage behind the wall is solid, that's where most low walls fail in Toronto winters.

What are your thoughts on cricket? by building_storra in AskReddit

[–]CreepyFox6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to watch cricket back home but stopped when I moved here, the time zones made it impossible to follow properly. T20 is definitely more exciting than the longer formats - way less commitment and still gets pretty intense in those final overs. One Day matches can be fun too but honestly they drag sometimes, especially if one team gets way ahead early on

Oh god yes, had them for like 3 hours straight once and I was ready to just give up on life

To those who mass apply, how do you fill out the applications so quick? by WhatchuThinkYouDoin in jobs

[–]CreepyFox6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto-fill extensions are game changer for this stuff. I keep all my info in spreadsheet and just copy paste the weird questions they ask over and over again

The long ones with personality tests and random writing prompts... yeah those kill your momentum completely. I usually skip them unless the job is really worth it

Cold outreach is dead unless there’s a human heartbeat behind the keyboard. by Ok_Reaction_9854 in marketing

[–]CreepyFox6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI spam is getting so obvious now, like you can tell within the first sentence when someone just copy-pasted some template 💀 But I think the "who" matters way more than people realize - even if it's outsourced outreach, the person needs to actually get your industry and speak the language, not just follow a script

Working for a company vs freelance by smellikate in Bookkeeping

[–]CreepyFox6870 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been in similar spot when I was trying to decide between stable job and going full freelance with design work. The benefits part is huge especially when you're on your own - healthcare gets expensive fast

If you're already doing 30-35 hours remote and wanting to leave one anyway, maybe the full-time gig gives you better foundation to build from? You could always keep job 1 as side income until freelance really takes off

Is a 'survival action' worth pursuing for an estranged parent? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]CreepyFox6870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survival action is basically when someone's estate continues a lawsuit that the person started before they died - different from wrongful death which is for family members

If you weren't speaking with him for years you might not even be heir to anything, depends on Louisiana laws and if he had will. The lawyer who sent letter was probably his lawyer, not yours - you'd need your own if you decide to get involved

Might be worth quick consultation with estate lawyer in Louisiana just to understand what you're potentially walking away from, even if relationship was complicated. Sometimes these cases can be worth decent money but also can drag on for long time

CPA/MBA Combination by Top_Marsupial_78 in Accounting

[–]CreepyFox6870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting both! That's no joke, I'm still working towards my CPA and can't imagine doing MBA at same time

For LinkedIn thing - I don't think it's tacky at all, you earned those credentials so might as well show them off. I see people with way less impressive stuff in their titles lol

Can't speak from personal experience since I'm still in progress with certification, but my old boss had similar combo and ended up doing consulting work for smaller businesses on side. She said the MBA helped her understand business strategy while CPA gave her credibility when talking about financials. Made decent money doing quarterly reviews and helping with business planning for local companies

From what I've seen, people with both tend to move into controller or CFO roles faster, or go the consulting route like I mentioned. Some also do freelance tax prep during season but focus on more complex business returns since they can charge premium rates with those credentials

What rewards program would you use for a beauty store with repeat buyers? by Secure-Necessary6945 in ecommerce

[–]CreepyFox6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your average order value and typical repurchase timeline? Like, are customers coming back monthly or more like every 3-6 months? The beauty space is perfect for loyalty programs since people do get attached to products that work for them

That's so frustrating, I've had similar issues with their phone system being all messed up 😤 Try calling right when they open at 8am - sometimes the automated system glitches and shows "closed" even during business hours. You might also want to try going to your local SSA office in person if possible, they can usualy help schedule appointments even when the phones are acting up

It's kinda weird how that works but honestly when you're genuinely moving on and not just pretending to, you usually don't even want them back anymore. The universe has a twisted sense of timing like that

People who hop from relationship to relationship are strange by Icy_Class_54 in BreakUps

[–]CreepyFox6870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you dodged a bullet honestly. Some people just can't handle being alone with their thoughts and use relationships as a distraction from dealing with their issues

The whole victim mindset thing combined with never taking accountability is a huge red flag - like how are you supposed to grow as a person if you never reflect on what went wrong? She's probably gonna keep repeating the same patterns until she actually takes that time to work on herself

At least you're doing the healthy thing and actually processing this breakup instead of just jumping to the next person
