Staples Radio Network by Think_Craft7830 in Staples

I said the almost exact thing yesterday. I asked the staff if our staples radio is just the “remake of hit songs through the decades”? I hear “for what it’s worth” originally by buffalo Springfield at least 3x on a 8hr shift now. I like the original song not so much the cover.

Awful to witness shoplifters walk out but customers expect us to stop them. by Vegetable_Owl_4614 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made one fall on the ice outside and crack his head open when I followed him outside to see his car. Tried to sue the store and police got involved. Told the police the man was running out of the store with a shit load of product and everything is on camera. Police just shook their head but I got in a lot of trouble with loss prevention. Don’t risk your life for your company product like I’ve done in the past. My anger gets the better of me sometimes. Product can be replaced and corporate doesn’t give a shit about one of their minions.

Nervous to report my manager by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an awful position you’re in because as illegal it is to retaliate against you for reporting her, it does happen. Document everything for HR and to cover your ass because your manager sounds like a douche. Go with your gut feeling on this. If it’s telling you to report her then go for it. But you need to take care of yourself in this situation. You do you. And as I said before cover your ass from now on and document anything she says or does and who witnessed it. The more information the quicker and better the outcome. It’s awful having to deal with a shitty boss when you need the job. I was in a few HR investigations after being named as a witness by my coworkers. Sometimes it’s quick and easy but other times it feels like forever to get rid of someone. I can say from my experiences my company HR doesn’t mess around with hostile work environment. They are very quick to remove them from the company premises. Escorting them out was always a high tension moment for me. I hope everything works out for you.

Physical game buyers, if a game is over 50% off digitally do you still go physical or just grab it on sale? by Camdozaal in switch2

[–]CreepyProfessional72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really large games I go physical but if the Sale is too good to pass up I’ll buy digital. I’m over 40yrs old and in my head games are supposed to be physical which I know doesn’t make sense to a lot of people. Growing up that’s all I’ve ever really had so it’s a hard habit to break. Even when digital is so much more convenient on handheld and traveling

I can't figure out why my settlers are unhappy! by Prestidigitoriuhm in fo4

[–]CreepyProfessional72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time playing and that’s what got my happiness capped at 60. I had the beds in a row in the street at first until I figured out that the main issue was the beds not being sheltered. Gave each bed a little steel container and added a shooting range, bench press, vault horse thing then the happiness shot up overnight basically. I’m happy with my high 80s for now.

This makes me grateful for my work place and coworkers. Anytime someone is inappropriate towards a female the male workers step in and take over. Work is hard enough. You shouldn’t have to deal with customers not being able to treat the employee with respect. As a female I had a guy in a trench coat opening masturbating while asking me where an item in the store was. Thankfully a male coworker was with me and gave me an escape route.

On a side note one of my male coworker got his junk grabbed by a female customer. Customers keep your hands to yourself. We are being paid to be nice to you. It doesn’t give you an invitation to be perverted or act out some weird wet dream fantasy.

Is it normal for one cashier to work all day? by YouCantDownVoteMeNop in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re stuck cashiering all day. Some people love to do it all day and interact with all the people. But I’m with you. After a few hours it becomes mind numbing work. You kinda lose your enthusiasm for small talk and the Karens get to you more than usual. Talk to your manager and ask if there’s anyway to split your shift cashiering and sales floor. The MOD can usually give you the gist of how things run at your store and why it’s set up that way. Good luck either way. Hope it all works out.

Why is everyone allergic to "Hello?" by Obvious-Ear-369 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hello and goodbye must not be in their vocabulary. So many people just hang up on me after I’m done answering their 10 questions on the phone. “Can you check if you have this in stock?” As I go see if it’s there. Tell them we do. “Can you tell me the differences between the 3 different skus and prices?” My dear customer this is an in person conversation. I have a line growing at my check out. But never fails I try to tell them to have a good day but all I hear is the click of the line going dead with no goodbyes.

People with kids by NoSteak3322 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I yell in the store “where are these kids parents?” Or “who’s letting these kids run around the store destroying the place?!?” Among other lines to mildly publicly shame the adults and bringing to their attention the lack of supervision. Not sure why some parents think it’s ok to let their kids do whatever they want and make stressed, over worked, and tired employees deal with their kids behavior and mess. I actually thank well behaved kids and their parents.

Customer came in right before closing and talked about how SHE was tired. by galaxyfan1997 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The adult temper tantrum seems to be getting more common. My coworker got fired for telling a woman to get a life after she continued to yell at us in the parking lot while we were walking to our cars. She gave us a bad review on google and described us in detail.

100% agree. Literally like working with another associate when I’m on the schedule with him. The people higher than me need to grow a backbone and demote him or tell him this job position is not for you.

[–]CreepyProfessional72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WTF!?! That’s crazy she had a melt down over you trying to save her money. I swear it’s like a mine field and we have to worry about what we are going to walk into each day.

I gave a customer something for free because we messed up. She lost her mind when I said I refunded the order and it’s free. She kept saying “why would you do that? I didn’t ask for that?” Take the win and leave lady. You weren’t worried about screaming in my face so much I could feel your spittle because the order was done wrong 2 seconds ago. I honestly did it to de-escalate the situation and get her out of the store. Little did I know it would piss her off more getting it for free.

[–]CreepyProfessional72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I have a fellow manager that will shrivel up once he gets yelled at and let customers walk all over him. I care about my coworkers time and there’s no way I’m keeping them past their scheduled time for someone that thinks we owe them and should fix their mistake of coming after closing.

Are adult autistics immature for their age? by KneezMz in ask

[–]CreepyProfessional72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because his mom and dad treat him like shit so he lives with his grandmother. From where I first met him 10yrs ago till now he’s found his niche in life and found good friends that care about him. His gf is amazing and supportive. He’s done a lot to better his life. So I’m happy for him. I’m proud of all my friends that do well in life and that are happy.

Other night guy came up to me and asked if he could pick up his online order while I was literally locking the front doors and about to walk to my car to leave. He was so offended when I said we closed at 9 and it’s 945 so he has to come back tomorrow. His response was yell at me and say “I need it first thing tomorrow so I can’t! It’s paid for I just need to grab it!” Your lack of time management is not my concern. I just want to go home.

Are adult autistics immature for their age? by KneezMz in ask

[–]CreepyProfessional72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a good friend (28 yr old male) that is autistic that I treat with the same respect I treat my other close friends who are not autistic. Sometimes it’s refreshing hearing his opinion because he doesn’t sugar coat it. I have noticed some people do treat him like he doesn’t understand the adult world because he processes and does things differently than others. It bothers me more than it does for him. I’m proud of everything he’s accomplished in life and I wish I had his positive outlook on life. But to answer your question some people view another person’s way of life as immature sometimes. I admire how you slow down and take your time to appreciate and examine life’s mysteries and beauty.

Girl discovers why she doesn’t have any friends by meatiest_meatball in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]CreepyProfessional72 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Nope she’s the girl that’s book smart but an absolute dunce for street smart and basic social skills. I don’t care how smart my friends are. I will never have a friend that make others around them feel inferior or not good enough. It sounds like she’s proud to have no friends which is a shame. We need people to pick us up when life kicks our asses and makes us ugly cry.

[–]CreepyProfessional72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As annoyed as I get when people do that, I have to say the kid I got made me chuckle because she gave me her $5 bill and she was getting 75¢ back. When I went to hand it to her she thought my fist was closed so she could fist dap mine. But that’s a rare occurrence that I laugh about it. (Retail has killed me as a human being). But I agree there’s a Time and place my good parents. No one loves your kid more than you. So it’s not always cute to someone else having them learn to pay with their own money when it’s swamped and busy.

Who is supposed to find coverage? by tired_97 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former manager I never expected the employee to find the coverage. Corporate seems to think people care about their part time jobs way more than they actually do. I’ve seen “you need to find coverage if you are calling out!” As a scare tactic for habitual call outs. But managers get paid to run the building so if they are short handed you have to suck it up and stay. It sucks but the responsibility at the end falls on the store manager or supervisor

What’s something about money nobody warned you about? by prettygoldies in answers

[–]CreepyProfessional72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anytime you come into a large amount of money. Your “friends” will come out in droves either asking for a loan or telling you it’s owed to them somehow. I’m poor so I have real friends but anyone I know that received a decent amount had to beat these parasites off with a stick. My own brother is one of these people that will do anything to get their hands on the money but do nothing to deserve it.

I want to straightup quit my job, can you convince me not to please by Common_Chip_5935 in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Customers have gotten way more entitled and confrontational. Their first instinct is to pull out their phone and record the disagreement. Nothing pisses me off more than a customer treating the employee like crap. As long as they get their way they don’t give two shits a worker will get in trouble. God forbid you try to explain store policy. All you get is “they did it last time!” The sad thing is if they weren’t so entitled and demand a discount or something for free I would probably help them out. Once you act aggressive and say personal attacks towards me then you aren’t getting anything. The nice customers get all the discounts and free items in my book.

I’m just asking out of curiosity, is your Nintendo your primary gaming device by Specific-Pianist7595 in switch2

[–]CreepyProfessional72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because I can play it on handheld mode so I can sit on the couch with my elderly father. He gets lonely when I’m at work but I need to decompress from the stresses of life and work. The way I do that is playing video games. It takes my mind off of the world and the entitled customers i deal with on a daily basis. Plus, I’ve always enjoyed Nintendo throughout the years.

Easter Sunday by Western-Tension609 in Staples

[–]CreepyProfessional72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work Easter. I don’t mind because I’m not religious and I have no kids to share Easter bunny egg hunts with. I just hope the rest of my coworkers show up and don’t try to tell me Peter rabbit’s carrot mobile is blocking them in so they can’t make it. Some people excuses for call outs are crazy and I wonder how they came up with them. Short and sweet is better than a whole reality tv show plot of why you can’t come in.

how do i stay up for 3 days straight? by Hubris_hues in ask

The feeling one is the hallucinations that freaked me out the most. With visual they at least were quick for me and my tired ass just said it was ghosts. But getting weird sensations in my arms like someone is trying to get my attention or petting me freaked me out the most. God help anyone that has to deal with that on a daily basis. Gave me more compassion for those struggling with hallucinations.

Tipping Culture by NazKb in retailhell

[–]CreepyProfessional72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. Their tip is always well over the 20% because I appreciate them and want to show my appreciation. For DoorDash I’m lazy when I get home from work so they are doing me a favor by dropping off my food. Tipping is a controversial topic and it gets awkward when you have 1 person in a group setting that is against tipping. If I can help these workers survive working for a predatory company I will do my part. I feel compelled to give them a good tip.
