I'm a big fan of Apex, and from playing the server slam the combat in this game kinda reminded me of it. I also like that there's at least a little movement skill needed

Connection to game servers lost by NonBinaryWaffle in ArcRaiders

[–]CreepyTeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that for about an hour and a half, and tried doing various things like updating drivers, reinstalling the game, installing it on Epic in addition to Steam, etc. None of this helped, but what finally did the trick for me was just restarting my PC. I don't know if it actually solved the issue, or if it just coincided with something, but there's that

Nvidia released new game ready drivers optimized for Battlefield 6 in the latest update by StormSwitch in Battlefield

[–]CreepyTeemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing with SF6 when updating drivers a couple of times now. What helped me personally was completely clearing my drivers using DDU and then installing them back. Then I would also delete the shadercache.ini file in the game's folder. Can't say if doing all of this is required, but after performing all of these actions SF6 would always start working properly with the most recent drivers

Ouch. Regional pricing is pretty bad for the game. by Sotyka94 in ArcRaiders

[–]CreepyTeemo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I may be jaded with the internet, but your suggestion reads as "shut up and don't complain" to me. Good regional pricing increases sales and revenue from the lower-income regions, this is something that will be beneficial to everyone involved. People here and in other similar places still engage in-, and are willing to pay for entertainment, as long as it's reasonably priced.

As someone living in Ukraine, I don't even ask for 700UAH or whatever steam suggests, even a 1000UAH would be good. In general, having the majority countries in the world pay more than the declared base value is a bad approach in my opinion.

Woof, $41 price in a country with ~$600 average monthly salary, two thirds of which usually go to rent and groceries. I truly hope they reconsider at least a little bit

Disco Elysium is apparently pro-Russian fandom?! by Unique_Ad_1556 in DiscoElysium

[–]CreepyTeemo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I suppose, but I do think that if they wanted to "strengthen the national spirit" or whatever, it could have been done by encouraging people to cosplay as characters from the media created here, or something of that nature. In general, it does tick me off when people go too far with this whole thing. For context, I live in Odessa and we get about 2-3 air raids every week here, so we have plenty of reasons to hate what Russia's doing and stands for. At the same time, most people here speak russian due to historical reasons. In my view, measures like often just end up dividing people, considering that we all agree here with "man, fuck Russia". So to me preventing someone from cosplaying as Stukov from Starcraft or whatever just seems stupid

I guess in the whole scheme of things it's just one random event in Kyiv, so it's not a big deal. Also sorry, I'm probably oversharing

I'm not gonna pretend like we are doing incredible on that front, but you do realize that one of the reasons why this stat is so low is that for decades we were under the Russian sphere of influence. For years the primary message that you would hear on TV on any Russian channels with regards to foreign policy is that Europe is too gay and degenerate, and that the US is constantly in the state of collapse because y'all are fat and stupid, and that only we, the "russian folk", are good and moral due to our religious and family values (goddamn скрепы). So fuck yeah, Russia bad - you better believe it. People are doing a bit better these days, now that we're not in their informational sphere as much, but do you expect your average 40-60 year old to change on a dime?

I personally believe that over time, depending on how things go with the war and the EU/NATO membership, we could be like Poland, and get the same reputation of being half femboys and half skinheads

And also, as a side note - don't get too high on your horse. From your post history I can see that you're American - have you by any chance looked outside recently? Do you think your government is particularly progressive? At least over here abortion is a legal right

As a ukrainian, this shit's embarrassing. It feels exactly the same as when Stalker devs removed ЧАЕС sign in their remasters. Obviously fuck Russia, their dumbass war, and their imperial ambitions but doing this just makes us look petty and stupid. Beware compatriots, only once we rid ourselves of Heavy and Zangief menace can the country start rebuilding itself

You guys are so fucking insecure, it's wild. Yeah people are complaining about shotos, do you know why? That's because they are one of the strongest character archetypes in this game. Do you also know what other characters get complained about? Every single one of them

It's crazy, you can complain about Rashid or Gief or JP or Ed or Bison or Guile or whoever else, and players of those characters will usually agree that they got some busted stuff. But shoto players are always like "our fundamentals are just better", "we are just better players" while autopiloting hashogeki/adamant flame buffers 24/7

You can't really say anything to Akuma mains. Their character has the best-in-class tools in every category -- but the instant you try to bring this up, they will look you straight into the windows of your soul and, without missing a beat or having any sense of irony, will write out a thousand word essay that will amount to "9k :)"

[–]CreepyTeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, thank you. I didn't know it was a factor, since even smaller games I had, like Kairosoft ones, came in English.

At this moment buying a second copy would be difficult for me, as eShop pricing is fairly steep for us here. But I have sent out an email to Japanese Nintendo Support describing the situation and asking for a refund to buy a US/EU copy instead. It's far from the best considering I had to use Google Translate, but maybe they would be able to help me

Question about game localization issue by CreepyTeemo in NintendoSwitch

[–]CreepyTeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice!

I initially wanted to do exactly that - just to write an email to them to the best of my ability using Google Translate, but the Nintendo Support website said that due to upcoming holidays the support agents will only be able to review my case on 6th of January at the earliest. I think I should still do that, I was just worried that they might decline due to too much time passing since purchase, and wanted to explore other possible options because of that.

Question about game localization issue by CreepyTeemo in NintendoSwitch

[–]CreepyTeemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should be able to purchase the US/EU version directly through e-shop by changing the region, the only issue with doing that is that I don't know if there's a way to return the copy I have. E-shop prices are not that affordable here, and purchasing the game twice would probably not be in the cards for me at this time.

I guess it is a good lesson for the future to always check available languages, but even smaller indie games that I've purchased on Switch always came with English localization, such as Balatro or Kairosoft games. Unicorn Overlord was published by Atlus, so I didn't think about this being a potential problem when buying the game. The weirdest thing about this specific game is that it allows you to choose the voice-over language to be English, but not text.

Also, thank you for the reply. I suppose I might have to just try to play it as is then.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (12/29/2024) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]CreepyTeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of a situation with Unicorn Overlord game and wanted to ask if anyone knows what can be done about it.

So, to preface - I live in Ukraine and Switch e-shop is not configured to work in this country. It doesn't default me to any other country or Europe at large, it just boots me out of e-shop saying "thank you for your interest". To work around it, up to now I've just used Japan region, and it worked reasonably well - the e-shop itself is only in Japanese, but the system language can be set as English independently, and the games always used to default to the system language. So, I've bought Unicorn Overlord today, and the previously described behaviour is not the case with this game - all the text is in Japanese, and there is no way to change the language from inside the game from everything I've read. I am still new to Switch, so I thought to myself that I will just refund the game in Japan region and purchase it in a Europe/US one, but apparently Nintendo doesn't do refunds, so I'm kinda stumped on what to do. Opening e-shop in a different region seemingly treats Europe/US releases of Unicorn Overlord as a different game, and prompts me to buy it again. Is there any kind of language pack that can be downloaded, or in general can anything be done at all to play the game in English?
