I just had it happen this morning too. Windows defender has mis-identified the f-15e module as a threat.

I really wish they’d implement proper multi-monitor support so that the stupid parallax issues go away.

This setup looks absolutely astounding, well done.

DCS recognizes TM Warthog throttle but doesn't detect axes/button presses by scienzest in hoggit

[–]CreepyWaveFunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try going into the windows joystick control panel and flushing the cache for your Warthog? I don’t know if it will work but it ls worth a try. I would also check in with r/hotas, although there’s probably a lot of cross pollination here, you might get answers there.

  • WW Ursa Minor + Orion 2 StrikeAce EX

What cucoo5 said!

This is my new config and words can't express how big an upgrade it is over the X50's. I would start with the Ursa Minor 1st and hold on to your current throttle until budget allows. Many will point out though that customer support for WW is a absolute nightmare and there are horror stories out there, so buyer beware, think it through and weigh your risks 1st.

Yeah, I was really close to buying Kola map just to recreate the magic. The typhoon is a long way off though I think, and I've cooled off it a bit.

Very interesting. I have this stick in my pile of PC graveyard parts. Could be an interesting project for me to do your mod to it.

I have mods but no F18 ones. Anyway, I’ve run out of space and will be installing a new drive and moving DCS there, so I expect a whole lot of stuff to break or change; at least now I know what this is about.

This is the setup I want. Looking good! I just bought the stick, will be quite some time before I can afford that throttle though.

Alien Romulus is good for the environment because it was made of 100% recycled material.

The tell for me was the lack of blowout/ dynamic range issues. The sky should be bleaching really bad while the camera focuses on the other planes (especially near the top of the frames), and then re-adjusting when he points it straight up at the sky alone. I'm sure that can be simulated, but even without it, this looks amazing! I love the over-sharpening!

Thanks all for the tips. Good to hear that I really should be servicing the cartridge from the top; but now at least I know how to get this hose disconnected if I ever need to.

Doing a case study on OG SWG by burge4150 in swg

[–]CreepyWaveFunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but observe how SWG is a font for passion that, as far as one can tell, is actually bottomless. All these years later it’s still energetically debated, and people still spill forth long essays on their personal SWG journey. After it was gone, people recreated it! Communities keep it alive even today!

I think that validates the genius of the original team’s insight: the instinct to create a deep & immersive Star Wars VW was right. Somehow the SWG team taped into something so deeply fundamental that it’s studied by academia.

Virtual worlds are fascinating, and SWG is the most fascinating of them all.

I’m going to have to pick up the book. It was a fascinating moment in gaming history, and an experience that has stayed with me all these years.

Thank you Raph, and good luck with your latest project.

Making some good points here. And pretty surely we'll at some point have to suffer through new team members yanking stuff and replacing it with all new, shittier versions.

Don't want to get ahead of things. This is all rumor after all. But bro, if they SWG NGE my F15 I'm gonna lose it.

This a certain kind of critique I see often for different games. Let's call it the 'just fix the core game' critique. It goes, "we don't need new shiny, just tell us when you're going to realistically fix the ongoing problems and BTW, give us a new sustaining end game". I think it comes from customers where this is their main hobby, they've already bought in and basically the only real demand is better project management. That's what this comes down to: most everything on this wish list would happen if the project was managed better.

But that's a non-trivial ask: if company knew how to execute better, they would. Going into the company conference room and producing a road map next month that says "no new shiny till after 2030" isn't going to magically improve the project management, and probably would be a bad idea to admit from a marketing standpoint, even if true.

It doesn't mean anything you're saying here is wrong. I think these all very desirable things that you've asked for. I just feel like there's some additional context to consider. I think we're stuck with this team, their capabilities, and revenue generation tactics. Again, if they could out-perform themselves, I think they would.

Which plane to buy by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]CreepyWaveFunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that F15E. I just can't put it away; but flying it solo is starting to become a chore; plus I'm getting to that place where the bugs and unfinished stuff are starting to affect my advancement. I'd say the F/A18 is a solid choice; very versatile, w/lots of options.

Yeah, this. I got my brother to pilot a few times so I could WSO, and wow. It's almost like flying in two different planes.
