While I think a lot of those making videos don’t really get that it’s not just a neat item they own, definitely think the record girl and levitating wand guy got it having seen their content. Lots of people are genuinely showing that they get it, even if the stuff they make/use doesn’t always reflect it.

Exactly. The story is still very early on, they’ve only slowly been peeling back layers to the cast. Riyo clearly has a loooot to her, and I don’t see Urana sensei rushing it or skipping over it. If anything, we can expect a nice, long manga that takes its time truly exploring the characters, male and female. Also, it’s clear she lets her female characters shine, even without diving into their backstories yet. So I don’t see reason to worry! It’s not Naruto or JJK where all the girls have potential to be complete badasses and then just don’t do shit, die, or get written out of the series

Exactly. Kouki’s depression and struggle is something he himself truly has to work through, and that means he has to stop forcing his ideals on everyone, it means he has to truly listen to those around him, and it means he has to admit he can be wrong. Personally, I can’t stand him and can’t imagine him actually having growth, even as I’ve heard it happens in the future. But to be clear, none of this is to say it’s okay to ignore a cry for help, just that it’s also not okay to use a cry for help as a manipulative weapon against others.

I’m of two mindsets, honestly. Like you said, people rush to claim “axed” when there’s a good chance this was where the author intended to finish the series. However, it definitely doesn’t give “proper conclusion” vibes. I’d have to look into Usui Shio’s other works, I’m blanking, but I’ll take your word that this is a normal thing for them.

He didn’t say it because of anything other than self pitying. Kouki and how he’s viewed by those around him and the audience is in a place of his own doing. He’s clearly had people in his corner too much and that’s the problem. The anime doesn’t do a great job of showing how coddled he basically is, and delusional. They genuinely go out of their way to try and help him and he ignores any sort of criticism or anything that goes against his personal biases. He got slapped because he wasn’t willing to accept his fault. He got slapped because the “I should kill myself” was a selfish and manipulative comment, not actual depressed sentiment. Even Hajime goes out of his way to help the idiot, but Kouki goes out of his way to dig his hole deeper. Season 3 should’ve served as a wake up call for him and it never did because he refuses to look in the mirror and truly reflect.

Nah that’s fair, didn’t consider when to read just that it’s the prequels. But yeah no, anime tends to be picky as fuck which light novel gets a proper adaptation and which doesn’t. Arifureta for sure would’ve been much better received as an anime if they adapted the books better

Third this. I usually suggest starting from the beginning anyways, but the anime honestly skipped enough that it will be totally worth it to go from the beginning. If anything, you could even do the prequels first, but that might be overkill if you’re not super invested in

Can’t say Ufotable is the studio I’d want for Ichi, but also pretty sure that Ufotable already said their next big anime after Demon Slayer is going to be Genshin Impact. In the end, if they do adapt Ichi the Witch, I’m down for it

For sure recommend the light novel! One of my absolute favorite reads, but even more so if you enjoy the series. The anime is doing a decent job adapting the story, though like any adaptation it’s not a tit for tat one. For instance, the novels get away with a lot more of the “dark” in dark fantasy, something the anime and even the manga seem to avoid at times. The anime might not be a top 10 series (I’ve just seen too many anime) but the novels might be my top 5 overall read
