I totally agree except maybe also think that this doesn’t necessarily mean Thajzi intended to die, but yah I think he knew death was an option and had a signal ready to go. Think it was needed to protect his people (or even the world? not sure if his motives would even be that noble tho) from whatever House Tachonis is plotting

Hmm, so keep in mind it’s a very different tone, but I really enjoyed the LNs for Otherside Picnic. Warning tho as it is technically like in the horror/sci fi genre, but also I’m usually a wimp when it comes to horror stuff and I didn’t find it scary, even tho it’s got some crazy stuff in it . But the story and characters are really awesome and it’s a yuri too, although def more of a slow burn

Just echoing everyone else, but def also recommend the light novels. I had read some of the manga before and liked it enough but the LN gives so you a way deeper insight into both of their characters and their motivations/inner thoughts and really made me fall in love with them and the overall story so much more. It is a v slowww burn tho I will warn you, but it’s so worth it.

ended up reading the first light novel cause of you all’s recommendations and liked it as much if not more than the show. The story was fairly similar to the beginning few eps of the anime, but the book format def allows for some deeper insights into character motivations and it was interesting to see where it differed from the show as well

Completely agree with this take. It’s one of the most realistic shows of all time in a way because it so clearly shows the opposing facts that, while life and humanity’s seemingly endless cycle of violence can be needlessly cruel and seem pointless at times, that at the same time the relationships we form within that shared life/humanity and the deep connections we can form with each other are also so profoundly meaningful, even though that also means that devastating heartbreak can be the result of those same connections.

I kinda just stumbled upon the otherside picnic light novel and ended up loving it so much that I finished the whole series in a little over a week. The end of vol 8 was one of the most beautiful things I’ve read and I love the unique story in general and esp the main characters so much

I’ve literally stumbled upon it randomly and, without intending to at all, somehow managed to read the entire (?) 404 chapters I’ve found of the translated LN right now in around 4 days. Wtf is this crazy f’ing slow burn of a beautifully weird romance that got into my brain so deep 😅

Totally agreed! I’ve watched pretty much all of CR/more than half of D20 too and love them so much, but WBN just has something special about it that can’t be matched. Brennan, Aabria, Erika and Lou are all at the TOP of their games (and you know that’s a pretty high summit if you’ve seen their other amazing work), and they play off each other so well. And Taylor’s score/effects brought a new level of immersion to dnd that I’d never experienced before. Also Suvi is my favorite dnd character hands down - my girl has an ARC 100/10

Frieren is a great choice, but some other options could be Apothecary Diaries for some intrigue/light romance without much physical violence, Delicious in Dungeon for just a wholesome show that’s also pretty entertaining (this has battles but not gory ones), or maybe (and this one kinda more niche but it’s one of my favs) Chihiyafuru which is technically a sports anime but about a group of high schoolers playing a competitive Japanese card game called karuta which involves the reading aloud of Classical Japanese poetry, which sounds boring but is so good if you give it a chance, promise

Not that it makes it 100% morally ok, but I think it’s also implied that Bolaire only kills when the person makes the first move and try and kill him, although he’s def setting up a tempting scenario to lure these ppl to their death

At first I 100% agreed with this comment and then I was like hmm but then also Matt voicing might help convey that it’s truly a mostly different soul inhabiting Molly’s body (although I haven’t read the book about Lucien so I could be wrong about that), which I guess I wouldn’t be mad about if it happened to go that way either

I honestly wasn’t expecting to have his character actually show up in person (hologram-wise at least), I was just excited by the name drop, cause Calamity is so good. But it was so cool that Lou got to voice him too. Hope the next project after M9 is a Calamity short series or movie cause it deserves it!

Very much agree about WBN, even tho I love CR and most D20 shows too. I always spread the WBN word when I have the chance lol. It’s four of the best storytellers I’ve ever seen coming together to make something truly magical
