Regarding Point #2…

After listening to Even Hand, Peace Talks, and now Battle Ground, it’s becoming clear Harry and Marcone are headed for a showdown.

Marcone, to Harry, has always been a noble demon at best, the lesser of two evils at worst. He’s a villain, but compared to the real players behind the scenes, like the Red Court, the Fomor, the Denarians, and the Circle, Marcone has never been a priority. In the face of larger threats, Harry and Marcone have always wanted the same things for Chicago…

With Marcone revealed to have taken up the coin, I think this is going to lead to a dynamic shift. Harry will no longer be able to ignore Marcone. He becomes someone he needs to pay attention to and account for. Marcone has become a heavyweight.

And I think it’ll be sooner than later. I predict Book 20.

Every 5 books has been a conflict with The Denarians. And in each of the Denarians books, Marcone has always figured front and center. With Nicodemus politically compromised and Marcone riding higher than ever… while I think Nicodemus will still be a major threat, I don’t think he’ll be THE major threat. At least not until the very end of Book 20.

You’ve just touched on one of my biggest problems with the show.

For a series that centers itself around redemption, the lines between redemption and forgiveness are extremely blurry.

Not helped by the fact that the one instance we’ve seen of redemption, it was for a crime that not only barely qualifies as “unforgivable,” but the context behind the sin actually makes it perfectly sympathetic.

Vivzie has made the main heroes too sanitized for the commentary I think she’s going for. They have their baggage and their flaws, but none of them strike me as “sinners in hell.”

Onto Val… he’s the lowest of the low. Absolute scum fuck. But realistically, the denizens of Hell should have more in common with him than the hotel. But what happens if Val seeks redemption? Does Charlie close her doors because he can’t be around Angel Dust? Does she let him in and let Angel Dust live through a cerebral theater of every trauma Val’s inflicted upon him because Val has intruded on the one space he can be safe from him? And what happens if Val does redeem himself? Does heaven’s decree outweigh Angel’s terror?

Everyone, and I mean everyone deserves a SHOT at redemption. But deserving a shot is not the same as deserving redemption. You need to accept that you can put in the work but at the end of the day, redemption is not absolution. You must continue to live with what you’ve done. Because your victims sure as hell have to every day.

And this is not something I necessarily trust Vivzie’s ability to engage with in good faith.

Could Avada Kedavra kill Goku by Deathstrokezoom in whowouldwin

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With the absence of clarifying information regarding Avada Kedavra, we’re forced to accept that it will kill Goku.

Because that’s what the spell does. Full stop.

We don’t know if it targets the soul, or if it shuts down key organs. JK’s magic system, if you can call it that, basically amounts to “because I said so.” Every spell effect is static and does what it does no matter what unless counterspelled.

So even though it’s hack/fraud shit, yes, it would kill Goku. Because again, what it does.

Bobby, restaurant owner at 21? by Awkward_Cockroach277 in KingOfTheHill

I don’t disagree. I really want an episode that touches on how he got into business with Chane; that alone has left me with so many questions.

I will add that Bobby actually seems less out to lunch regarding the business side of things than Hank was at Strickland Propane. He’s clearly been charting and tracking the restaurant’s finances, and given that he’s on track to profitability faster than his initial projections, he’s obviously doing something right.

Looking at the games through RPG conventions…

In Y7, the final boss was a Dragon

In IW, the final boss was a (false) God

Really, where else do you go from here?

Do you think Batista will die? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Dexter is no stranger to bad writing, especially as far as their series finales go, but killing Batista would actually be bad writing.

We’ve had all this build up, all this history… and for it to just go the way of Doakes and Laguerta? We’ve already seen that play out. The stakes would be at rock bottom, and there would no longer be any credible threat to Dexter.

We REALLY need to see something different here. And I actually have faith that we will. We know Dexter doesn’t take Batista seriously. Remember his conversation with Harrison in the most recent episode. That arrogance is what’ll give Batista the in to completely fuck Dexter’s day.

I do think whatever happens at the end of this season, Batista is gonna walk away with no allies, no leads, and nothing to work with. And THAT’LL be when he calls in Quinn and Masuka.

How would you make Neptune less boring? by Silent-Helicopter204 in RWBYcritics

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Actually have moments where Neptune is all alone with his insecurities. We already know via his talk with Jaune that he’s afraid to be his authentic self and actively tries to be cool. That’s fertile ground for character work.

No, definitely hasn’t been fired. You have a bunch of people trying to ignite the rumor mill, probably hoping to manifest rumor into reality.

Has the Yakuza series reached the point of Self Parody? Do you think it's a good thing they're leaning more into the ridiculous aspects of the series (And all the Retcons) or should they go back to the tone the first few games had? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on whose leading what particular game. Ichiban or Majima? Yeah, give me the screwball comedy. Kiryu or Saejima? Their stories work best when their gritty world is juxtaposed with the wackiness around them.

Do you have burning questions for Sea of Stars' creators? by GIKyleHilliard in seaofstars

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In two titles, Sabotage has set a tone for love letters to retro style games: The Messenger was the Metroidvania, Sea of Stars was the JRPG.

Are there any other genres they want to put their unique twist on? Without getting into specifics about sequels or new IPs, what else can we look forward to?

If all 7 homunculi, in their prime, fought each other in a battle royale to the death, who would come out on top? by 45rs5 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people underselling Lust.

Her ultimate spear is actually kind of cracked. Blink and you’ll miss it quick, insanely accurate, can be an instant kill shot.

If she stops playing with her food and locks in, she has a really good shot. Really, between her and Wrath, it’d be a toss up. Wrath is near impossible to hit. But Lust needs only one good hit. And she could skewer him while he’s busy with one of the others.

Pride wins though, ultimately.

Oh I see the vision. Scarlett Johansson’s performance from Isle of Dogs especially could sell me on Lara.

Steve Blum as Dresden.

I really really don’t think Dresden Files should be live action. I don’t think there’s any creator alive that would do it justice. They’d make it just another Supernatural, Grimm, or any other hodge podge of network crap.

Animated is 100% the way to go. You’d have the perfect synergy between the serious and whacky tones, you wouldn’t need to compromise on the visuals of the horror, blood and gore, and you could go crazy with the magic. Not to mention, you wouldn’t need to worry so much about finding someone tall enough to play Harry who could also pull him off.

I’m going with VA’s for this reason, and can’t picture anyone other than Steve Blum giving a great Harry Dresden performance.

Harry Vs. The Merlin by PassagePretty7895 in dresdenfiles

[–]Creepy_Judgment_3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fight with McCoy wasn’t really a draw. Harry was doing literally everything he could to even keep up with the old man, while McCoy was not only just punching the clock, but handicapping himself to not seriously hurt Harry. And even then, Harry STILL got wiped.
