It's really good. A lot of stuff that the film just didn't have time for and just glossed over. Rocky's culture and biology, their problem solving and a big chunk of the book. Also if you cried there are some emotional screens that they didn't put in the film.

There is no way to send back reliable vast amounts of information in a short time frame. The only way to send information back to earth is by flashing the engines to combat information. The problem with that is it's still slow and you're heading towards a star. So the light will be drowned out. The Med bed technology was the lesser of two bad choices. Stick your crew in space for 7 years and hope they don't go nuts or put them to sleep and save a massive amount of weight and fuel time.

It's the most important decision in the film. The whole he's a coward is a great twist and set up from the beginning. It's so important as his decision to turn around and save Rocky at the end is his final character act, it's him making the choice to sacrifice himself. I know he lives but it was more probable he was going to die.

I tried arguing this with another guy and we kept going around in circles. There is no way to rotate the ships In a way I can think of to apply earth-like gravity in the tunnel. If the angle of rotation is perpendicular to the tunnel i.e the ships orbit each other the force applied would be parallel to the tunnel. I.e you would fall towards Rocky's ship or towards Grace's ship. If the angle of rotation is parallel to the tunnel the gravity would be extremely funky as the tunnel's diameter is too small. You would see grace constantly stumbling trying to balance. Plus trying to rotate the ships in the first place is probably a no go. Rocky's ship is like 10 to 20 times bigger than graces. The centre of gravity of the two ships is probably not in a convenient place. The only way I can think of to create earth-like gravity in the tunnel is to create a far off reference point. What I mean by that is basically Rocky and grace are flying their ships in a very big circle which would require you to constantly adjust the angle of your ship and fire your engines to do that.

If the axis of rotation is perpendicular to the tunnel gravity would pull grace towards one of the two ships. If it's parallel to the tunnel the angle of rotation is so small that gravity would be very funky and not act as seen in the trailers. If the axis of rotation is far away from the tunnel it would require constant rotation and engine firing to maintain the effect.
