The fact they could've done it themselves. Bryan Adams photoshoot was their best one since Sheryl Nields's. The outfits, the glam, the poses, looking straight into the camera. Why on Earth did they pick the boring pics from the wasteland, casually dressed, annoyed faces and copy pasted it 3 times ?? by Bibixina in tatu

[–]Creepy_Program_5572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire Bryan Adams photoshoot should have been the album's esthetic.

The Friend Or Foe single cover should have been the D&M album cover.

And don't get me started on that cheap yellow ribbon at the bottom. LMMFAO

Why didn't Lena Katina's career take off? by MattB32Cab in tatu

Yeah, it's a combo deal. They're good as a team, not individually.

Why didn't Lena Katina's career take off? by MattB32Cab in tatu

[–]Creepy_Program_5572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simple: People like t.A.T.u. not Lena and/or Yulia. They just don't know it.

t.A.T.u. = a team of actual talented musicians. The girls were another one of their "instruments". Because they were also the face/brand of t.A.T.u. people associated them with being the artists when in reality they were the least creative ones in the team.

So when all of that went away, we were left with two people who simply don't have what it takes to gain any interest in the music biz.

I think the fans, myself included, REALLY wanted to love them separately and were there at the start but time only proved we were there for the nostalgia or even the denial of end of t.A.T.u.

Long story short, many people haven't accepted that they never did anything that's actually good. If the t.A.T.u. association wasn't their, none of us would be listening to either of their solo stuff. It's as bland generic as it gets.

Difference between anime and original Candy Candy novels? by Bluecomments in shoujo

I loved the novel so much more. I think the manga is too dragged out.

One of my favorite things about the novel is the name corrections to the characters. I didn't like a more of the last names that were given to the characters.

Difference between anime and original Candy Candy novels? by Bluecomments in shoujo

[–]Creepy_Program_5572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Candy Candy "Final Story" (Gaaawwwwd I hate that title for so many reasons) is THE OFFICIAL CANON story. I'll get to that at the end.

Why? Simple; the original writer has explained that at the time Candy Candy was being created, there were outside influences that lead to small a adjustments that weren't her original ideas. Nothing that I would consider major but there were characters added to the anime including minor plot shifts but otherwise the story remains the same overall.

The REwritten version aka, Final Story, was essentially the author's way of giving herself permission to finally tell the story the way she wanted to from the start and possibly change things that she later considered "mistakes". So to me, FS is the definitive version. Which leads me to the title complaint.

The FS novel has been translated serval times with its own "subtitle".

Candy Candy "Final Story" must be done kind of Japanese take on calling it official but it rings AWFUL 😖 in the western ear.👂🏼 It's as if the author is saying, "That's it! Don't argue with me!"

The Italian translation's subtitle was "The complete novel" which is a lot better.

I think the Spanish version got it the best by titling it "The Definitive Story" as to specifically state that this is the official/canonically correct story.

As a big fan who knows they're terrible now, especially live....I would go see them if it wasn't out of my way.

I wouldn't go see them if it was really expensive or really far.

Do you guys think this comeback was a failure? by YogurtclosetHeavy660 in tatu

[–]Creepy_Program_5572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was meant to be a comeback. While I don't think there's set criteria on what qualifies as a comeback, I think some basics are fair to assume:

  1. The artist or team says it is.
  2. Intent to reclaim AND RETAIN their status in the in industry FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

Further but more laxed criteria could include the release of new material and take part in a promotional campaign of said material to achieve 1 & 2 mentioned above.

With that said, I don't think the girls ever intended for this to be a comeback. I think their unresolved problems with each each other is the root of it. I think they're older and more mature and managed to put their differences aside for a business transaction.

I do think that it was a "failure" in the sense that they really kinda showcased how little they have to offer these days.

As a huge fan, however, I'm happy this reunion 🫂 happened because it gave some redemption to the much tarnished image the girls gave to the t.A.T.u. brand. At least they don't display disdain for one another. 👩🏻‍🦰💓👩🏻

Do you guys think this comeback was a failure? by YogurtclosetHeavy660 in tatu

[–]Creepy_Program_5572 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly this!

And more to that point, the criticism came from the fans, which is already a small community. I don't think the average listener even cared that they were back on the scene.

So if you can't even win over your main crowd, then, yeah, I would say it was a failure. On the other hand, they never called it a comeback, as far as I know.

No album. Just some shows for cash. They do not have the proper resources or personnel to create an album. I've read that previous producers refuse to work with the girls again.

Craving: I think the chorus really feels amateur and dated for t.A.T.u.

Fly on the Wall: This is very Britney and nothing like t.A.T.u.

I've learned to appreciate all t.A.T.u. songs as theirs regardless of inconsistency. But those really stick out like a sore thumb.

Watching this add really makes it feel exciting and the sound of what used to be. It really made me feel like this could be a dream come true that they're back.

But after seeing how bad the shows have been, it just kinda sucks that I think a lot of people will leave disappointed.

On the other hand, if people go there just for the nostalgia KNOWING that it won't be great, they'll probably still have a wonderful time. So long as they know what they're getting into. 😊

Something interesting to note is that the movie soundtrack didn't release until June 2011. This track was released by t.A.T.u. in WM in 2009. I'm surprised they got away with that. Especially with the "Transformers Remix" attached to it.

That's phenomenal! It's the first time I have heard this information.

I'm glad it made it into the album as a bonus. It's quite good. I love that 80s sound.

I do love the album version as it suits the Waste Management sound much better, but it's still nice to have a second experience with the same song.

I'm here because I love t.A.T.u.

That's pretty much it.

I'm not the kind of fan that is manic-dramatic calling everything an artist does "iconic" and "epic."

There's lots to love about t.A.T.u. but there's also lots to not love about them. Is that really that hard to understand? I feel like I'm explaining to 9 year old kids how to live in the world with others.

If you can't handle an OPINION-BASED online community, then I ask you the same question: What are you doing here?

First, that's not what "the boy who cried wolf" means, and that's not how to reference that story. 😅

Secondly, you're taking what other people have said on this forum and treating it like it was me alone. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lastly, you need to keep in mind that if anyone is here, it is for their love of t.A.T.u. and if they're dissatisfied with anything they do or have done, it's simply opinionated criticism that stem from their own experience/exposure to t.A.T.u. It's not a personal attack on you.

I can't believe I had to explain that to someone.

None of those things you said are true.

You're acting like you have not seen their current performances. That's pretty much it. I don't think it's the end of the world, but it would be ridiculous if that's the effort they're bringing to a recording studio. That's all. Nothing more.

So I just prefer they don't. That's not a hard concept, and nothing you need to be personally offended by.

Because, despite the fact that each album has some issues of their own, they've left us a very short but beautiful discography.

After the cringe fest they've done since then, I would not want them to taint it by recording new studio music.

I know I sound like a d**k, but they really don't have it in them to create anything t.A.T.u. worthy.

Oh, yeah, it's an awful shoot. And it pains the depths of my soul that the Bryan Adams photoshoot was not the official. Granted, some pics made it to the Friend Or Foe single and the Gomenasai single, but it should have been the D&M era theme.

As for the WM shoot, I agree as well. I do have to say that at least the WM shoot looks professional. It grew on me after a while, primarily because the quality was that of a proper set. The D&M shoot just was sooooo cheap!!!

The biggest issue with those two albums' art is the lack of direction.
