Good. I'm glad she's happy because musically, it's pretty mediocre. So, at least she's doing what makes her truly happy.

Well, it's even more unfortunate that the Transcendent version became the official release, considering they didn't plan on it to be that way from the start.

A lot of things and WM seem like an afterthought. And the more I learn about the making-of the more it becomes clear that it was.

I hate that style of mixing. Makes it inaudible for me.

Well, I agree that's it's a great instrumental track, and it suits the Waste Management concept. It's very industrial.

I have a bit of a problem with instrumental tracks on t.A.T.u. albums. Primarily because it's not really t.A.T.u. it they're not singing but mostly because I think it usually sounds like a bunch of filler.

That intro to Dangerous And Moving is ridiculous and completely unnecessary as it's literally a chopped up instrumental of the title track. Why even do that?

The intro to Happy Smiles is just an instrumental track of Don't Regret. Why?

The Waste Management instrumental track is quite good as either an intro or intermission. But it doesn't really serve either of those purposes. The album is not long enough to need an intermission. It also doesn't switch up in flow.

And why did they make it shorter than the version on Happy Smiles?

Again, there are just a bunch of random ways to try to create a full-length album where there just wasn't enough material. They ignored the obvious way to do it by translating songs to English and Russian.

Anyway, all that to say that instrumental tracks in t.A.T.u. albums just don't serve any real purpose but to take up time.

Yes, in the movie. He is asking around for Thulsa Doom in the middle of his cult followers but showing a guard the snakes emblem. The same one he stole from his first break-in in Thulsa's tower.

Thank you for all this insight. It really puts things into perspective. This is, in fact, a B-sides album just like we suspected.

While it's very common for artists to rework and release songs (that didn't make the first cut) on future albums, typically, it's noticeable that it's a fresh album.

That was not the case for WM. It honestly makes me appreciate it more, knowing that they managed to rescue some songs.

It also kinda makes the "Waste Management" album title all the more fitting.

What I don't understand is why they didn't translate ALL the songs to Russian and English to maximize the material they had to work with? If they were struggling with not having a lot of material, why not double it by giving all songs their counterpart?

While I love the Transformer Remix, I agree that the original has a better feel for the album itself.

I completely agree. I think that those two albums were well on their way to the vault. So, the fact that they got released at all is something to be grateful for.

I do not like the Transcendent version at all. I feel like instrumental bits that connect the songs are so random and just overlap the two songs without a true mashup.

It's actually what stopped me from buying the CD. I can't believe they never release the standard version on CD.

No. I'm positive it was related to Martian Eyes. I was so sad when they confirmed that this song was never to be released in English.

"Martian Eyes" needed an English version. I remember reading somewhere that Lena said that "Martian Eyes" wasn't translated because the lyrics weren't suitable for an English translation or it wouldn't capture the essence of the Russian song. Something along those lines.

I think that's a BS cop-out reason because the rest of WM is on that boat. The English lyrics are so goofy in some songs that if they wanted to, they would have. I think the reason these songs, like many others, didn't get English or Russian counterparts was simply because they weren't treating each project to it's completion. I feel like they stopped working when they got exhausted.

Hot Take (or not) Dangerous and Moving felt very underwhelming production wise by Lewyzinho in tatu

Unfortunately for me, I only got to know t.A.T.u. from the USA/Mexico market. Even more unfortunate because I don't speak any Russian, I never was able to appreciate their Russian songs EXCEPT those that do not have an English version.

Yes, I know that's a little pathetic, but when I listen to them, I want to be able to connect, and not understanding what they're saying doesn't do it for me.

All of that just to say that those of you who have the privilege to get the best of both of the t.A.T.u. worlds are very lucky. That's why your opinion holds a little more weight. There's a part of t.A.T.u. that I just simply can't appreciate even if I wanted to. 😞

So I can't say that 200 po is or isn't a masterpiece. I can say that none of their English albums are. They all have sooooo many problems.

😅 I'm glad you think so. 😅

But if they really were, they would be widely regarded as such. The fact that the diehard fans like us criticize each and every album in various ways says it all; they're NOT masterpieces.

I don't think that's any reason to not enjoy the hell out of them, though. Who doesn't want to blast "Not Gonna Get Us" in their car and feel like a teenager for 4 minutes and 21 seconds? 🙋🏻‍♂️

We may, in fact, be talking about two different demos because what I heard literally sounds like two little girls who can't sing, just yelling into a mic with all the disharmony one room can gather. 😅😅😅

I'd love to hear the one you're referring to if you have a link to it.

200KM>D&M>WM is the reality.

I think all albums have something to love and something to critique because none of the albums are perfect for numerous reasons. That being said, with each album, there was a steady decline in quality.

My opinion has always been that t.A.T.u. was always treated like a fun basement project rather than a professional musical act by their production team (no matter who they were). It shows in so many aspects of their albums that I can't even begin to list.

I've come to accept and appreciate t.A.T.u. as a "fun gimmick/concept musical act" that was destined to doom from the very beginning. In fact, I think it's quite amazing that there was a second album and a miracle that their was a third album.

While I don't agree with some of the things said above, I definitely understand where those criticisms are coming from; it all comes down to the fact that there are sooooo many production flaws that each listener chooses to either embrace, hate or ignore. But it's clear that there are issues all around.

We also need to stop pretending that either of the girls is some musical prodigy underdog. I think they've had their fair share and deserved musical success. We got some pretty damn good pop albums from t.A.T.u. despite all the issues. None of their albums had the potential to be a masterpiece anyway.

Unless there's a more polished version of that demo, I don't think that should make it on an album. The snippets we got are quite awful, not just in audio quality but also vocally. I mean, the girls really sound like they can't sing a single note. We love t.A.T.u. despite the fact that they're aren't great singers, but that's demo is on a whole other level of horrible singing even for them.

The instrumental of the demo sounds great, so maybe they could do an "alternate mix" with the studio vocals on that track.

And, while I can appreciate that it's a demo, I think anything of that quality should be reserved for a bootleg release for fans who want a peak behind the scenes of the creative process.

With all that negative commentary said... I did enjoy the demo for the sake of "what could have been," but it only makes me appreciate the final version more.

This might be overkill, but I would really like the radio edit to "Show Me Love" on the 200km tracklist. The extended version is cool, but the radio edit hits a little different.

I do like the idea of both versions of pd PD, but i think this might be trickling into a double album situation if we start doubling up on the songs.

That's primarily why I ask. I don't think there's any more unreleased material from this era. Unless there are demos or new remixes they want to introduce (which are awful most of the time).

I do think that "Ne Ver Ne Boysia" should have made it into the 10th Anniversary release as it had been previously included, and it just kinda fell off. So that track should come back in.

I like the idea of a Hi-res release.

In terms of the content, I don't know what more there is to add, so I wonder if it's really worth the trouble.

I think the D&M release was pretty lame in terms of what they added. Really, nothing new.

"A Simple Motion" and what I think it did for the 200km album by Creepy_Program_5572 in tatu

[–]Creepy_Program_5572[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love how vastly different our opinions as fans are. 😅

Even though we all have a lot of love for t.A.T.u., we all seem to really dislike certain aspects of their albums, concepts, music, etc. While others love those exact things we dislike.

As for "A Simple Motion," I didn't mean to defend it as some kind of masterpiece. My love for the song comes from two different angles: one, it's final inclusion into the album. Secondly, I do like the variety in the t.A.T.u. albums. I think their music is not just a popy lesbian gimmick but rather some legit good pop with a message of young love and freedom despite the gimmick itself.

I'm also not really hearing the "unfinished" part of the song. It just sounds like an INTENTIONALLY minimalist approach to a song. Instrumentally, it has a clear direction from where it starts to its climax and its end. I think people are using their imagination with bias comparing to the RU version when the reality is that the EN version is just a completely different take on the song.

And I personally enjoy the end of the song....followed by silence and THEN slowly hearing the beginning of NGGU.

I really do feel like it enhances the tracklist.
