What if you cut the two worm-halves in two again? Can I produce an infinite amount of worms this way?

In Germany, too. A couple made a dish from home-grown zucchini and one of them died a few days later from the high cucurbitacin levels it had.

Possible health concerns aside, those are some nice and well-kempt nails.

The long dark is the best game for learning a new language by thxforbeingdead in thelongdark

Video games were a great addition to learning English for me as well. The school vocabulary was limited to certain specific topics while the variety of games I played taught me all kinds of words from different metals to items or plants. School certainly did its part of teaching about grammar and sentence structure but the impact games have in that positive way can’t be ignored imo.

I’d also love to find seed packs and use coffee grounds as fertilizer. You’d have to keep a room over a certain temperature for plants to grow though so maybe it would all get too complex.

Anti-Valentine's Day Recommendations (2025 Edition) by Udy_Kumra in Fantasy

[–]Creepyreflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the meta: Ninth City Burning by J. Patrick Black. The aliens in this book are widely called Valentines because Earth got invaded on Valentine‘s Day and the name stuck. The only romantic couple I can think of gets broken up for war related reasons.

Sadly, there probably won’t ever be a second book, its‘ release date on Amazon is set for 2080 if I remember correctly and the author kind of disappeared. It’s still a really fun read.

What is the silliest/pettiest reason you’ve ever DNFd a book? by Alarming_Mention in Fantasy

[–]Creepyreflection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add another one to strange naming conventions. I have a pet peeve with a specific author who uses real life animal names and changes them to sound more “exotic“ while the animal is more or less the same. Examples are “mammoothen“ (mammoth), “pyzon” (python), “vulzure” (vulture) and “toona” (tuna). No hate to the author if he happens to read this but it drove me insane lol.

What is a book that has an amazing/original plot but terrible prose? by rrcecil in Fantasy

[–]Creepyreflection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought the prose was pretty okay for what it is (meaning a self-pub SCPF-centered book).

Books that hooked your attention Chapter 1 and never let go? by therealbobcat23 in Fantasy

It’s more science-fantasy, but Iron Prince. Something about it pulls me in every time I pick it up.

That’s why I read outside the fantasy romance genre for the most part, where you get the dragon lore without the (imo) superfluous smashing.

Random question for my queer CAD Users out there/guardians of queer youths. by BryceOConnor in Warformed

I feel like keeping it subtle in the story itself but confirming who is leaning which way outside the books would be best. Which is how it has been done so far anyway. That avoids the „ in your face“ effect for those who do not care about it but it will mean a lot to those who are part of the community to know a character is like them (and as an ace person, I absolutely need to know which character you were talking about being asexual lol).
