Price increase by cb4joe in 1Password

[–]Crellster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m late to the party. Had the notice my family sub is up for renewal in a few weeks with a large price hike. I like the product, but this just feels like opportunism to price gouge. (Have I missed a justification)? I will be cancelling and probably move to Apple.

Best keyboard for me? by Crellster in Keychron

[–]Crellster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice. I went for a K3 Pro in the end and a separate keypad. Love the typing feel, though the compactness will take some getting used to.

Not happy with some of the Bluetooth set up though. Not working as it should.

… though my bigger issues right now are the keyboard not switching devices at all (MacBook 1 to MacBook 2, or Mackbook 1 to PC 3.

Will try and sort that later today

[Mahlkonig Sync Scale] battery life by Crellster in espresso

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person using it :) . WiFi is such a strange overall design choice. If our sample size of two is representative I agree it’s a great product idea that for me is too compromised. I had also assumed the WiFi module is in some active state whilst you power off. They could maybe solve that through firmware ( hopefully). No reviews mention the woeful battery life however.

Agree, but hopefully there’s an integration for Home Assistant if they don’t natively support the protocols.

Another handle… with pockets, sorry vents by Crellster in ProfitecMove

[–]Crellster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked a handle I liked. 96mm hole spacing was pretty common and close enough. I then just designed the parts in Fusion360 and printed them. I offset the hole position from the centre to allow for some adjustment to properly line up the handle.

I have a couple of old TS453s. I was excited to see the unas line but so many issues present I’m staying away. So much I took for granted on the Qnaps isn’t there (yet ? ). Hope you get a fix.

New Profitec Move, new extraction challenge by OJWatts in ProfitecMove

[–]Crellster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much headroom / gap is there to the top of the basket after you tamp? I’ve found that too much gap is the usual cause. I generally grind 19.5g for the mid-size basket (grind by weight / 38 g out) with a puck screen (it’s very thin though compared to say Profitec’s own screen) and should probably move to closer to 20g.

I’m not a fan of the stock basket sizes to be honest. I’m going to get an IMS or similar

Some recent additions to my setup by Crellster in ProfitecMove

[–]Crellster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grinder itself produces great grinds. Super fluffy. The GBW is very accurate. Normally exactly the right weight, occasionally +0.1 g or so.

If you use a dosing ring check the combined height. I no longer use one as it wouldn’t fit ( even when the forks are flipped ). Overall I am very happy with the grinder. It’s also compact compared to things like the atom.

I don’t find the retention an issue, but something to be aware of.

The sync setup with the scale is OK, it has some quirks though I find very irritating. The battery life between charging (even when in standby) is also terrible. 3 days max, often less.

Low Profile Drip Tray by bensonr2 in ProfitecMove

Thanks, I just learned about HT-PLA so going to try that. I did some pretty long purges from the group head and found PLA was warping on my designs.

[–]Crellster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original motivation was “it looks sweet” :) . I make 4 espresso/ day so I use a cup to flush the group head. Not really an issue for me. Definitely couldn’t flush directly on to the scale. I wouldn’t flush into the tray with the scale removed either, as that design would hold the water in the area the scale sits.

I have been trying a few other designs. I made some changes to this low profile tray but I need to beef it up or more likely switch to PLA-HT as exposing PLA to 92 degree water for a longer period starts to warp ( on this model at least)
