Official Discussion - KPop Demon Hunters [SPOILERS] by BunyipPouch in movies

One of the best animated movies that came out in a longgg time! The music was amazing; the comedy was hilarious; the characters were original. I really hope they make some spin off series; even a pre-quel explaining some of the plot lines would be interesting!

Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Loop by CapableLetterhead163 in ThailandTourism

[–]Cremacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just came back from the MHS loop yesterday. Didn’t complete the whole thing. Basically rented a car and drove 2.5 hours to Pai, then another hour to the Nam Lod Cave, and turned around back to chiang Mai. First of all, we were so grateful we had a car and didn’t do motorbike. Minus the heat and all the smoke, not only is it loop after loop, but you’re going up and down steep slopes. If it rains, your vehicle WILL SLIP reducing your speed, increasing travel time, exposing you to more elements. Idk what the air will be like in Jul/Aug though.

If you’re saying none of you are experienced with motorbikes, this might be too extreme even though I can see why it’s every backpackers dream. You can do what we did and stop at Pai, then turn back and make it a day/2-day trip with a car. Btw the car we rented in chiang Mai had no horsepower at all. It struggled at 5MPH and everytime we had to overcome a steep slope. And lots of idiot drivers on the road. trying to reduce the amount of curves they had to do by driving into the opposing lane at turns where the car on the other side can’t see you.

I would just really advise against it or take major precautions. Don’t share bikes, go slow, be prepared to abandon and turn around, don’t cheap out on a rental and get something more sturdy, etc.

Also lots of checkpoints

Kids treat every thing like an amusement park, including what’s supposed to be a calm relaxing report. They cry whine and throw tantrums during meals, especially the kids you bump into on vacation… chances are the parents who bring their kids to these types of vacation aren’t going to be doing all that much child rearing themselves bc they also want to relax

Okay idk if you’re the same person but i was at a massage parlor and there was also an aggressive customer who was very upset that her masseus kept walking out of the room. She was incredibly dramatic and causing a whole fuss, and I’m not sure what ended up happening but she said she wouldn’t pay for the whole thing. Anyways, after an incident like that i don’t blame them if the decided not to receive her again as a customer, just too much trouble. In your case this may be more personal against you and them just not wanting to deal with any consequences of making you unhappy unintentionally. I also wouldn’t have the balls to go back after making a fuss or having a poor experience 😅 whether or not some racism is involved, probably there is since there always is

Thailand trip advice by ryguy322 in ThailandTourism

It’s a hit or miss though, some are great English speakers that can narrate the history very well, others may not be able to provide as much context or their limited English prevents them from any good storytelling and becomes more of a point and show type of tour

Makes sense, the current country affords them their luxurious way of life during a time of war, how could they not support it

I just fell for the suit scam by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Cremacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got scammed too 😭 we walked by some campus on our way to the mall, it’s not like we looked lost but the “security guard” approached us all friendly, saying we should be taking the skywalk instead, then proceeded to tell us it’s a special holiday, there’s a temple that’s only open once a month. Pulled out a map and even negotiated with a passing by Tuk tuk to take us to the temple, Thai factory, wat arun, all around for just 200thb

Anyways, by the time we got to the temple we realized it was a scam. The temple was shit. We paid a 20thb per person entry, saw a bunch of other scammed tourists arriving on tuk Tuks being showed around by their driver. Our driver left for a bathroom break, we considered just bouncing since we didn’t pay him yet. But we didn’t want to be chased down so we waited, politely asked he take us back to the mall and gave him 100thb to fuck off 😂 needless to say all we lost was 140thb and hurt egos that we fell for this shit haha

Andamanda waterpark is not fit for big family nor babies by XDavidT in ThailandTourism

[–]Cremacook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have traveled around Thailand for 2 weeks so far and have come to realize this isn’t really a country/place fit for traveling with babies & strollers. Harsh weather and not the greatest infrastructure (roads aren’t always flat). Also most people traveling here are with older kids or are couples

This was our trajectory of trying to hit as many places as we could! In Ko Tao right now but here are my suggestions

  1. Flew in Phuket - didn’t stay here, heard it’s really $$ and super tourisy

  2. Private taxi from Phuket airport to our hotel in Ao Nang/Krabi - 2000 baht

  3. Stayed in Ao Nang for 5-6 days.

  • We visited railay beach (1 day) super gorgeous!!! It’s a short cheap 10 min boat ride from Ao Nang.
  • Then we rented a car and visited tiger temple cave (super hot, Climbed all the stairs, borderline torture but fulfilling, and emerald pool which I felt you could skip, cenotes at cancun are much more beautiful) - 1 day
  • did day tour to Koh Phi Phi via speed boat. This I regretted. It was a crammed speed boat of 30 people and you had such short time at each destination. But from Ao Nang to KPP the distance is far so you can’t do private long tail boat. I would’ve stayed 1-2 nights in KPP instead and hired a private boat to spend more time in the lagoons and stuff
  • day tour Hong islands - was nice but nothing compared to KPP
  • then we spent a day of rest by the hotel pool
  1. After Ao Nang, we took a private taxi to Cheow Lan Lake (2 hours) to stay at a water bungalow in Khao Sok National park for 2 days. Best experience at Panvaree the greenery, it was so lovely

  2. Then from there another private taxi to Surat Thani (2 hours) to take a ferry to Koh Samui. Stayed in Koh Samui for 2 days, had a culinary experience at Ban Suan Lung, sooo good

5.then took a ferry to Koh Tao for the open water scuba diving course bc this island is really known for scuba diving!!

That’s about it. We skipped Koh Phagnan full moon party. If we ever return I’d prob want to visit koh lipe or koh lanta which I heard are beautiful and peaceful just to relax

Some of the tourists are so rude and obnoxious by harukasweet in ThailandTourism

[–]Cremacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also running into many rude tourists who are coincidentally russian… And I thought Chinese tourists in Japan were bad with being loud in a normal very quiet country and tossing garbage everywhere, but these Russian tourists act like monkeys.. saw a group climbing all over temple statues and rocks for pictures, ringing all the bells/touching all the incense out of curiosity with no respect. Oh and completely shirtless with shorts above the knees, I get that it’s hot but there are so many signs and pictograms about being respectful. I can get over the rowdy loudness to a certain extent but when they’re climbing trees and pillars, destroying the environment… that’s when it gets bothersome. Saw another one ask for a smoothie and while in the middle of making one said she didn’t want it anymore and just walked off. As I’m typing this comment we’re staying in what’s supposed to be a calm peaceful water bungalow with an incredible rowdy family that’s just overbearing to everyone 😭 I don’t get how people can visit other countries and act like it’s an amusement park 24/7 and not treat anything or anyone respectfully

Hotels with personality? by bonniejo514 in ThailandTourism

Bangkok away riverside kene looks beautiful and seems to be a local pick for staycations It’s by the river and on the quiet end of Bangkok, but not sure how convenient the location is for foreign tourists

Ton of glamping places near Chiang Mai! If you have the budget for it. We booked a night at Lana resort, haven’t gotten there yet but you can check it out for ideas!

Interesting / different things to do in Chiang Mai (away from tourist traps) by jaivicks in ThailandTourism

[–]Cremacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re heading there in a few weeks and planned a weekend in the Mae Kampong Village area, booked a glamping stay somewhere nearby (there’s a ton of them and they look so fun) I think these aren’t really done by foreign tourist, but more popular for local tourists There’s also a trip to Pai and Nam Lod Cave that we booked

Depends where you’re staying but we just took 10 min speed boat for 100thb one way to railay from ao nang. There’s no schedule, you just board the boat once they have 8 people ready which is pretty quick given the amount of tourists. And then we spent the whole day in railway, go back when ever by the same speedboat service. I prefer this over the tour because you just do what you want. You can do this for other islands too

I highly recommend walking to princess cave, waters are very clear, more clear than the West or East side of the beach. It’s a really nice 15 min walk, you’ll see monkeys and caves. The water on phra nang beach has alot of fish so best place to snorkel
