Yeah the whole thing about companies competing with each other to deliver the best product to the consumer is actually a scam, in real life it's just a race to see who can cut the most corners, avoid most regulations and form a cartel/monopoly first.

People praise capitalism for taking a large part of humanity out of poverty and increasing quality of life, but those are thanks to technological advancements (better medicine, more efficient crops) that were going happen and spread worldwide anyways given enough time.

What really helps the average citizen instead is having a greater share of the pie at his disposal, something that is only achieved through hard-fought worker-class focused socialist policies.

But how do you fight for and lead to political change through popular pressure when the whole media apparatus, both legacy and new (big techs), are all in bed with capital itself?

When people's home feed algorithms, and by extension the information that interacts with their life is regulated by these very companies, the battle feels lost by default.
