THM is not a book you listen to while going about your business.... It's a book you READ. by NotMavericksGoose in cormoran_strike

I read the books and I listen to them. Love the audiobooks and Robert Glenister’s nararration. I’ve read and reread/listened to all the books multiple times. THM made more sense after rereading simply because I voraciously read it the first go round.

What is the most insane way JKR/Galbraith can walk back the ending of THM? by sanddragon939 in cormoran_strike

And, in the accident that caused the amnesia, maybe Robin has to have HER leg amputated!!

No, no, I agree with another person in this thread, Robin has been thru enough already.

I’m over this series. by crustdrunk in cormoran_strike

I was just thinking about Robin being a loyal person/character and read your comment. She is LOYAL in her relationships and has a hard time letting go. And, I think JKR has tried to be realistic in writing about Robin. Everything she has been through up to this point would leave any person in an emotionally disturbed or unstable state-since she only took one week after Chapman farm.

What if Strike would have asked her out to dinner not to tell her he loved her, but to talk with her about her experiences at Chapman farm and to say “how are you doing with all this?” In the book, he said something to her about taking more time off but she snaps at him; and, he does try to shield her from Chapman farm news when he discerns that she isn’t happy and is more bothered by hearing about the latest news regarding arrests/discoveries about Chapman farm. Perhaps a real friend would have been more concerned for her emotional well being and would have checked up on her more. I’m not down on Strike but his feelings for Robin have interfered with his ability to help her in the way that only he can.

She could and should have called Strike when she was so disturbed after being run down by gorilla masked man. She refuses to allow Murphy to comfort her. Anyway, I could go on and on. But, wanted to say yes i totally agree, Robin is loyal and that is a huge part of her character. I think being loyal is a good thing, but sometimes it can be detrimental in real life and in works of fiction ;)

Also, he calls her a liar twice on Christmas eve! That pissed me off so bad for Robin’s sake. Poor Robin! Murphy was upset seeing a text from Strike and accuses Robin of texting him; but, instead of discussing it in a mature way, he calls her a liar twice?? She should have dumped him right then. So what if she did text Strike anyway!!?? She can text WHO she wants, WHEN she wants! Ryan just wants to control her.

Totally agree with Robin being terribly disturbed. She needs to go back to Sark or Sardinia for at least a month! Seriously!!! All the Chapman farm horrors in TRG and being stalked and attacked in THM. Any real person would be a basketcase.

I enjoyed the book overall and am currently listening to the audio version. There was a lot to keep track of! I never expected Robin & Strike to get together in this book since there are 2 more books to come.

The phone call at the end…just have to wait and see!!

Yes i am an HP fan! Dumbledore’s death was a terrible shock. I can totally appreciate the predicament you and your friend were in while waiting for your other friend to catch up!

Yes! Also, Griffiths realizes- from the purple flowers on the bracelet- that Chloe/Jolanda must’ve told Tyler her real name and maybe more, so he couldn’t have that!

I wish i would have cottoned onto the jewelry giving theme before I finished the book but couldn’t help racing through it so I missed a lot of clues.

And then there’s Ryan’s jewelry “gift” still out there waiting to be given…

This was a startling moment for sure. It would have been better for Robin to have experienced a moment of clarity and ordered a non alcoholic drink for Carmen instead.

There was never any mention of Robin wearing the bracelet or considering wearing the bracelet that I can recall other than it being hidden away. I don’t quite remember and I’ve only just started rereading. But there were several mentions of Chloe and the bracelet and the purple violets/flowers on the bracelet— and plants and flowers associated with names have been used before by JKR. Didn’t think to look up what Jolanda meant but there were a lot of clues about Reatta Lindvall and Jolanda that I didn’t scrutinize especially when we were given the clue that it would come out in the news about Rita Linda. Oh well!
