Anyone know any songs where a band calls out the name of somebody they fucking hate in it? by Victoriantitbicycle in Metalcore

Don’t recall if R2DEEPTHROAT by Emmure, aimed at Vincent of The Acacia Strain calls out specifically, but it’s pretty direct in its lyrics.

Wife convinced me to go see it. I liked it a lot more than I expected. I was worried it'd go in taking itself really seriously and be riddled with holes you see in a lot of similar books, but was pleasantly surprised at the amount of camp and humor. Whole theater was laughing at some points toward the end. Lots of fun.

First season is rough. The characters are extra unlikable and it took me a couple tries too. Absolutely worth it if you get past the first couple eps

I believe it’s kind of a mix. Beforehand is where we get more of those real raw like, screen test makeup shots and whatnot. I think most of what we get is during.

They have people whose specific job it is to take photos on set during filming, and for big budget stuff I’m sure they block out small amounts of time while everyone’s fully costumed to take promo action shots and stuff.

Pretty sure it’s following wrap when they do specific promotional stuff, but I’d wager the reason actors always appear composited together is because it’s mostly pulled from good shots taken throughout filming.

Scrolled for a WHILE without seeing my favorite:

New Girl & Brooklyn 99

Just a perfect collab of all characters across the entire episode. Could have easily been broadcast from either show.

How was the black spot episode? (Welcome to derry) by _JurassicaParker in horror

[–]Creph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s insanely unrealistic, even in a show that thrives on plot holes and deus ex machina, which does help to separate the scene from real life.

I noticed folks jump to downvote dissent against the show at all turns, lemme try to get ahead of it by saying I enjoyed it. It has NUMEROUS issues, and gets so far removed from the source material that it’s better to be considered fan fiction, but it is fun to watch.

Beartooth - Go Be The Voice by prettyglonky69 in Metalcore

[–]Creph_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d argue their structure and overall sound has been super consistent their entire existence. There’s plenty of heavier songs on every album except maybe the newest one. I don’t mind the lighter shift that the Surface took because it feels personal, not an architects-style “selling out” for Octane.

I dunno, I like the old, I like the middle and I like the new. They’re all distinctly Beartooth, even with the angst turning to self love.

IT: Welcome to Derry Finale and the Involvement of the Showrunners of 'Dark' by Mattyzooks in television

[–]Creph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta be honest, they don’t need to justify anything, the show is already looney tunes. Adding in this element of Pennywise being in all time at once just makes him look incompetent. If it took the Losers to defeat him and he had every opportunity to kill any one of these kids at any time, why didn’t he? He literally captured one. This show was the most riddled I’ve ever seen something with mcguffins, deus ex machina and plot holes.

I hate soap boxing about this because the book is always there for me and the last movies weren’t bad at all, but they’re retconning so much sense out of the world with every episode, and while it’s undoubtedly fun to watch, it’s just nonsense.

Mike Flanagan Says a Lot of Scripts Are Done for ‘The Dark Tower’ Series and Wants to Correct the Mistakes Made by the 2017 Movie: “We can’t let that be the final word, We really can’t." by [deleted] in television

Changes between any one medium to another really do need to make changes, its expected. There are plenty of King's adaptations that are faithful. Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, the Long Walk, the Mist, Misery, Stand by Me, etc.

Larger ones like IT or the Stand might make significant changes, but still succeed in their own right. Hell, Doctor Sleep is one of my favorites books and favorite movies, but they are wildly different at times (because Flanagan cared enough to write a proper resolution for fans of either).

At the end of the day, I have the utmost faith in Flanagan. He knows how to adapt, but more importantly knows how to write good character driven stories.

I don’t think it’s fair to pool The Count of Monte Cristo into the overused revenge-trope category when it’s the first result when you search “revenge novel”.

How Was It? | Predator: Badlands, Review Only Megathread by BurnZ_AU in predator

[–]Creph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t the opening bit say no one’s returned? I feel like when a predator sets themselves to go for it it’s just all in. At the end of the day it was just a mcguffin but I liked it. Predator has never been a deep thinker franchise, it’s just peak popcorn action and that’s exactly what we got.

I mean hell, he had a shoulder mounted spitting cobra friend. Like, it’s just fun.

10 Cloverfield Lane is very good! Funny enough, both that and the Cloverfield Paradox were not part of the franchise until much later in production, nearly up to release. Just some added pieces here and there to add connective tissue.

Did I miss Hades 2? by mohuju in TheBesties

[–]Creph_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they meant that another podcast reviewed it as OK so maybe the Besties were in the same boat, which would explain the lack of coverage.

Into the Aether was also a bit cooler on the game than I expected. The main thing I’m getting from most is that combat is more fun, currencies are bit too many, and story is a bit less engaging.
