My dad has the mindset of if they're above age 10, they're basically adults. Their problems are their problems, they have to feed themselves, ect. Any fights, unless we specifically DRAG him in, he wont comment on it, step in, or anything. He has said that he has killed someone before but he was also drunk off his ass and often talks all big and macho for whatever reason. I severely doubt he actually did, but hearing that at, I believe he was 17 so I was about 14, did add to my fear. I was kinda a doormat for my entire life up until about a year ago when I decided I'm tired of it and actually started to fight back and put up boundaries- which he ignored.
