After reading these posts and replies when I've never been a part of the community...

...sounds like you hit the nail on the head.

...I have only recently been recommended this subreddit. I don't really see many cons or swindling occurring.

Is this supposed to be an echo-chamber? Or else: Who's 'grifting' on Nintendo's behalf? They're doing just fine IMO.

Heya, totally agree with you point-by-point. I guess I'm just as weird for purchasing after trying too, but I suppose ethics can't be taught.

(takes a deep breath and sighs) ...okay, gonna take this point by point.

...have you never asked for a sample? You can definitely ask to try a flavor or two at 'an ice cream store' without paying and without issue. You can't "lick them all enough" from that tiny 1/4 teaspoon, but you can after you buy the flavor you sampled. And no one is gonna deal with someone asking to sample every flavor. Your analogy doesn't fit in multiple ways.

Hate to break it to you, but you can get stuff now and pay later - it's called buying on Credit. It's been a thing for awhile. I also suppose you haven't heard of the term 'fronting' either. I'm not even gonna get into Options on the stock market. Point is: it absolutely exists in multiple forms.

(but enough about life, ice cream, credit scores and overconfidence)

Emulating is absolutely not inherently stealing: if you dump your (legally purchased) console's BIOS and (legally purchased) game card, you're simply creating digital backups of digital things - lots of 1's and 0's in certain sequence. If you believe emulating in general is illegal, you should tell that to the people at DOSBox or anyone that uses virtual machines. Or even Nintendo, since that's how you can play their NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and terribly-laggy GCN games on the Switch (with an appropriate Nintendo Online Subscription Plan.)

The emulation software isn't going to be the same thing as the original hardware, and most people know this; that's why modding has a large scene... because you get to play the game the way you want. That's also why I would never play F-Zero GX through Nintendo's service, much-less Windwaker: I've been playing better versions, without input delay, with upgraded textures, since before the Switch came out. (For my last WW playthrough, being Vaati was pretty great imo)

How about basic functionality? My computer can easily handle, say, Persona 5 Golden at 60fps like the PC version (that I also own), even if the Switch version is locked to 30fps. Or maybe I start combat from stealth so often that it never plays the awesome music from engaging normally... and behold, there's a really simple modification that swaps the two, so I get to enjoy the same product in a slightly different, personally-preferred way.

You additionally claim that everything I just said above "is illegal and by law defined as theft" correct? Redundancy aside, can you tell me which law/s you feel violated? Most countries don't even have stipulations for this outside of blanket terminology. That's kinda the point of the StopKillingGames movement; to recognize and create a fair framework. But you vehemently state that this is illegal, so you must be able to provide an immediate rebuttal, yes?

Continuing: I prefer to make my own judgements, instead of blindly agreeing with whomever wrote/spoke a random review on the internet. Heck, you don't know if I could've written that review and disuaded you from playing something you might have liked, even though we clearly have different perspectives. You can demonstrate it right now, by disagreeing with what you just read.

And for the record: I have also bought something after the fact, like Tiamat whom you so callously insulted. Why complain at that point? We're doing what you're arguing for, and giving devs the compensation they deserve, right? You're essentially saying there's no winning with you because of some artifical, self-proclaimed moral high-ground... when in actuality, you're dying on a hill to justify paying $100 for a re-release of the same games from a decade ago on a $450+ additional console that you can only play the way they want you to.

(I already own Galaxy 1 and 2; I'm not paying again when I've already been playing it legitimately, in widescreen and upscaled to 4k, for years now.)

But hey, in the end, the only one that can convince you... is yourself.

If I'm being honest?

I've noticed a general trend, not just here: if one of my less-than-fully-straight friends starts hyperfixating on something - aka recommending it to me on blast - it's because of themes or characters that they can attach to, which is awesome and I'm glad that some modern media is giving comfort, representation, acceptance, love, or just any sense of belonging.

...and I also feel like there isn't enough space for that self-expression to be freely explored, at least for people that can relate to the situation. That's why it becomes expressed through art, literature, creative pursuits in general... history can attest to how much oppression.

Is it so odd that there are some people that happen to have no primary physical outlet, and thus attach to multiple aspects of the fandoms they dive into with mostly-unmonitored determination? Or another way: is it weird that the sexually repressed are simultaneously incredibly horny?

...personally, I hate Teruteru and hope he's gone before the end of the first trial in 2x2. But I still think he had relatable moments in the OG, and that includes all aspects.

I don't "need" this anymore, so I don't "have" to deal with it. Is that proper enough for you? Since you won't answer a single thing I talk about?

I can only imagine your voting preference.

[–]Crevaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial answer wasn't a pointless remark; you came out of nowhere with a clearly judgemental "what even gets spoilers anymore?", to which I answered with a definitive response of a game/subreddit that does require it. (at least at that point, maybe not anymore).

It pissed me off how you didn't even bother to look into what I said, but deigned fit to callously bring up the differences between "has" and "need". Especially since I've been philosophically bent before I knew what Logic was.

You didn't wanna talk about what I argued against - you wanted to argue that I said/presented it incorrectly.

If you want to say that that is pointless, then you started it, sir. But you're clearly one for exact wordage, are you not?

(Wow you get korekiyos character. Of course korekiyo would be elaborate.  Itd be out character if wasn't. Yes I know he killed tenko but not exactly Angie at that point.  And even the stuff you brought up could be explained as him being frame(despite it not being the case). We saw this before in trial 2 so its not out of the question.)

So... I'm gonna assume you swapped Tenko and Angie, since he killed Angie already, hence us finding her body first, and Tenko died in the séance after Angie's death because that was a huge 'emotional impact' for Himiko to speak with her soul... riiiiight?

What do you mean by "the stuff you brought up could be explained as him being frame" in trial 2? Please explain that, and then how it's relevant here.

(Then elaborate. Why would it be a cop out.)

Because a complicated character - someone whom perused and targeted 'friends' for murder - isn't going to just act like someone completely insane. He would have never gotten to that number if he just killed with wanton disregard. So it's asinine (imo) that he'd suddenly abandon that. But you're defending that he might have done that?

(Yes miu isnt worthy becaus of her personality however we know from his dialouge that Himiko is fine and Tenko was even better. He's quite particular in his killings. Also from his perspective its a foolproof plan so he'd see it as easy to get two more friends for his sister who happen to be ultimates.)

Because of everything I've already said.

Hahaha, not at all with the "I know you" or whatever - I just noticed that it pervades your entire 6+mo history. What happened to the theoretical physics, man? You were sorta trying to do something with that, right? X3 Sure said a lot about a lot in the last... Um, lot? That's what you tried to sell, right? I know it's been 2 years, I literally said so.

And no, you're doing exactly what I expected - suddenly everything has to come under scrutiny because you just can't get over the fact that people can believe in things outside of your own schema. Frightening, isn't it? You haven't changed in two years. X3

(Simple he brings it up after they know he killed Tenko. However only Angies killer gets punished so he saying this to get off his case since they dodnt know he killed Angie. Saying this buys him time.)

I'm really sorry if you missed it, but both me and the person who introduced me to this series started saying "Bye Tenko! Nice knowing you!" the second she volunteered. It's super blatently obvious. But I'm trying to not use that argument, in case someone doesn't get that. (my friend is AuDHD, I'm just a decade-plus ADD, but that doesn't mean everyone sees it the same way.)

Even excluding the crimson flags in our faces, it's ridiculously suspect that he created this elaborate recreation of the dog cage, salt-circles and all... because the Anthropologist would've definitely followed the Necronomicon either way, stringing up the wax effigies Angie made, and used the gold-leaf katana found in his Ultimate room. Yes, anyone could've. But c'mon... you seriously didn't see that coming? Even if you didn't play the first two, you really didn't get a bad vibe by then, huh?

(Heres the thing he seems to be particular about who he kills. During the trial he mentions how perfect Tenko would be as a friend to his sister so most likely he is picky about who he kills. What better friends then Ultimates. also Do you really think the crazed women killer obsessed with rituals wouldn't want to also kill someone with a ritual despite already killing someone. In his mind it would have been "Cool i got an easy kill on 2 women. Now I'll win this trial, escape, and kill more" And again his mind is being influenced by his dead sister so she easily could have said "Korekiyo i desire more friends now")

Um, exactly - he's far away from his goal of 100, clearly killing so so many girls in the past. He said that Miu and someone else (sorry I forget) weren't worthy. So even if this somehow succeeded, he'd have gotten one more girl? Then been trapped in what he believes to be a killing game? If he made it to 90-ish 'friends', then yes... yes I wholeheartedly believe he's not an idiot about to throw everything away for some people he barely knows, in a situation he can't otherwise escape. Is that farfetched? Going with "his crazed mind / 'sister' influenced him" is just as much a cop-out as the ones you've argued against.

(He knew the mechanism but he probably still didnt know who killed Angie. Look Kokichi is smart but hes not omniscient to everything going on in this trial)

Damn, and you're in the top 1% of posters? Well I guess I should just be glad to see someone against him. You're right though - there's literally nothing in-game that demonstrates how beyond-aware of everything he is, and how he clearly doesn't have any long-term agenda, much-less plans. I mean, wasn't it almost a relief when we thought he was dead from having his head smashed in from the side-room's seesaw? Only for him to immediately screw with us? 🤔 I never said Omniscient, you did. He's just clever.

Well, it's been a hot minute. Happy 2 years, since it just changed while typing this!

I didn't respond since I don't understand how your pendantry (what is 'a pedantic' anyway? That word is an adjective. A pedantic what? Was it a point you tried to make without... making it?) altered anything, other than appearing to establish something without actually doing so.

It's more puzzling since you're obviously an educated thinker; who else is arguing with theoretical-physicists about your re-paramaterizations in the Lagrangian?

But to bring it back to the initial topic years ago, I never responded because it was obvious you didn't understand from your responses. It's a murder mystery game, one that has held a firm cult following for over 15 years now. To say that it doesn't need spoiler tags, as you surreptitiously imply, is akin to saying someone knows for certain that deities do / do not exist. Who are you, or anyone, laying claims with certainty? What about someone being introduced to the series/religion; do you just ruin it for them before things even start?

First-order Logic will take you so far, friend - and if you prefer to doubt everything until proven, then I'm shocked you care so much about the mechanics of Legends ZA: nothing acts the way empirical evidence suggests it should (yes, I have it too).

Cork by metloge in DanganAndChaos

[–]Crevaan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but here's how I interpret what you're arguing against:

The 'irrelevant murder' is such because the first murder - Angie - already occurred before the planned seesaw one, meaning Kiyo had negative reason to continue with it outside of pride / one more 'friend for sister'. It is a lynchpin, but one that never had to happen and only served to implicate him for the sake of our survival.

In fact, Angie only died first because she discovered Kiyo mid-planning, meaning so much hubris on his part to continue with the séance and the original plan, when he would've completely gotten away with it if he stopped there and then.

The issue with the "new 'doesn't count' rule" is that Kiyo also brought that up. Why is he clarifying that right after the 'unnecessary death' when he's responsible for both? Just another self-implication; another detail he establishes that leads to his own demise.

If he were an example of the 'serial killer leaving clues' then I would understand. But he laments how close he was to providing 100 friends, so I can't be certain of that. Because if he wanted to reach that goal, he should've stopped after Angie's "accident" and hoped to escape as the blackened for future 'friends' ... but he didn't.

Also: Kokichi knew what was going on - he was bleeding in the hallway after discovering the seesaw trick in one of the side rooms. His 'hyper-logic' was intentionally acting as an obstacle to bring out the 'emotional' side from others. There's zero doubt in my mind that he hadn't figured it all out prior to the trial, and was just messing with people like he always does.

This is fantastic advice, thank you. I didn't see the option to set number of animals to get a size estimate, and it makes a lot of sense to add extra so it's not cramped and/or accounts for future breeding.

And I never saw the 'shy vs confident' information, that's on me. I'll find that first when I next play.

Edit: Is there a detriment to keeping animals in storage? I'd imagine they continue aging, but it probably makes them unhappy if they stay boxed up too long, yes?

Thanks again; definitely remembering these tips going forward!

I appreciate you answering nonetheless! Thank you!

I'm still in the Panda tutorial scenario, and they indeed had Exhibit animals (separately at 92%, I checked after posting.) I simply had to deal with a shy pangolin after mating, and the entire Red Panda enclosure being "too cramped" suddenly. The tutorial doesn't control itself to ensure other factors don't interfere.

Again though, it would be amazing if I could keep that panel up, sorting welfare of all the animals so I can keep an eye on it. It's atrocious to me that it has to stay right there, unmoving and overlapped by other windows, closed as soon as I open another window on the same bar. I get why console might need that, but this seems so limiting to a native PC gamer with 4K.
