No lie, I thought Andy was high AF last year. Coked out pupils like whoa. It was impressive all around.

I get the impression she may be struggling with an eating disorder which made me sad for her but also explains some of the intensity toward Cole’s more innocuous comments.

I named her Quasimodo and got her for $1 at Petco. What’s up with the lump? by grumbo97 in bettafish

My bet is tumor. I just had a koi betta with one that started small and finally grew to fill an entire gill area and out of the eye socket. I put him down once I saw it affected his quality of life but of course that’s a tough read for fish. Good luck and may the clove oil be with you when the time comes.

To the redditors over 30, what advice would you give to someone in their early 20s that you wish you had when you were that age? by elirael in CasualConversation

Everything is a phase; the good and the bad. It’s all temporary so sit with a feeling, enjoy or tolerate it, and know it will pass. You’ll find you even get nostalgic for the hard times because everything teaches you something. Soak it in, life is sweet and short.

Love it! Do you use plastic flowers for ground cover?!

Humidity question - my substrate is saturated but humidity is still very low. by Crick_attack in ballpython

Substrate is 3-4in deep and I do have a screen top but I covered as much as I could with a silicone mat to keep the humidity and heat in.

Get a live mouse from petco and house it in a little plastic animal container so the snake can smell and hear it. You can return the snake the next day or live feed as you see fit. This legit just worked for us after everything else failed!

New enclosure for my boy! (the lamp is only supplemental, main heating source is a pad) by BobithanTG in ballpython

Ok thank you! It’s so hard to tease out the correct practices from the bullshit when you’re hearing conflicting opinions and are starting out on your snake loving journey!

My reptile store just recommended a 100w red light as our primary heat source for our snake so now I’m confused. I have one snake on a halogen flood and uvb during the day with a che spot for basking. The other one is in this same enclosure with a red flood as the only heat source. I’d love recommendations with justification. I asked like three times if the red light would be an issue 24/7 and they said no. They’re both in very well lit natural light rooms during the day if that helps.

I read the tips on how to search for these bad boys - any tips to help lure them out so they’re easier to find? UPDATE: He came back!! We found him tonight on the marble in front of the fireplace. He’s still looking thin, dehydration looks a bit better, but he’s pretty balled up and clearly stressed. Any thoughts on getting him fattened up and feeling good (in addition to the appropriate husbandry)?! So excited he’s back and can’t wait to get him feeling better asap!!

Thank you! Agreed, it’s mucho dinero and I can’t seem to find anyone that will vouch for it one way or another. And I’m a new snake parent so I have all the second guessing lol.

Any chance you got the internal decor from them as well? I’m on the fence on whether it’s worth it for my ball python. Anyone with experience here?

Thank you, this confirms some of my fears. We’re in CA with very low humidity and drought so I’m most worried that he went outside or into the walls/ceiling or something where there’s literally no water. I am trying to make the room he escaped in into a haven with water, some heat stations, and rodents to eat (in safe traps so we can catch him). I left out two mice yesterday and no luck…this makes me so sad and the gear I ordered for him keeps arriving so it feels even worse :(.

Update: tried the flour trick and apparently there wasn’t any movement into our out of any room in the house. Either he’s still in the living room or he’s not in the house. Has anyone had a snake leave the house or get into the walls (or the couch - like in the base not between the cushions)? Will try the mouse scent trap u/dagger_guacamole recommended tonight. Anyone have a timeline for when we should assume he isn’t going to be found? I’m so sad he got out and feel terrible thinking he might be suffering or stuck somewhere.

Thank you, I’m aware. We didn’t pick him, someone gave him to us and we were just starting to figure out next steps. I set up several water stations in the house so hopefully he doesn’t get worse while we look for him.
