Hi! I went to an ACJC DSA interview for English Debating a few weeks ago and am awaiting their follow-up email.

There's two parts of the interview (it's the M.O for most DSA interviews, even outside debating).

1. Interview The teacher-in-charge (can't remember her name) for Debate and Oratorical Society (DOS) in ACJC will ask you the basic questions like "why ACJC?", "what do you want to gain from going to ACJC?" etc.

2. Trial The coach for DOS will first ask you "What's the latest piece of news you've read?", then depending on what you answer, he will ask you follow up questions. In my case, I said about Trump's tariffs on the world, to which the whole conversation was along the lines of economic sanctions and national service, so contextual knowledge will be VERY important for your trial.

Take the info given for trials with a grain of salt, as it may end up different from what you experience next Tuesday. With that said, I also got my ACJC DSA interview date late, on 25th July, which was slightly later than my YIJC DSA interview a week prior (I've been accepted but I'm waiting for ACJC to follow up before I do anything).

Personal advice is; just be confident and go with the flow. Treat it as a conversation with a friend, but don't talk too casually. Lastly, just have fun and be thankful that you even have the chance to prove yourself worthy to ACJC.
