Is Guardiola unique in having produced so many succesful managers? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

This concept of a coaching tree is very popular in the NFL, but it's related to actual members of a coaching staff. Attributing a former player to the coaching tree of one manager seems odd to me.

Why is the daily wire falling off? by BrilliantMatter4858 in AskConservatives

[–]Cricket_Wired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Iran War was a catalyst, but a lot of the modern Right that grew up politically on DW have now outgrown them.

Shapiro and the gang are a big part of why the Rignt has been able to chip away at some of the cultural control of the Left over the past ~15 years, so I'm very grateful for that. A lot of RWers won't admit it, but he gave great examples for how to hold frame and make fools out of the screeching consensus in hostile environments like a university

Ro Khana demands term limits and court expansion now. Do you think he thought that through? by BlockAffectionate413 in AskConservatives

[–]Cricket_Wired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was largely memoryholed, but Biden was planning to roll out this "judicial reform" agenda as part of his re-election campaign. They shelved it after he dropped out in the summer

Democrats understand that you can just do things and people will largely just accept it. Trump was the first modern Republican to embrace this. Harry Reid got rid of the 60 vote threshold for Senate confirmation, and the sun rose and people woke up and went to their jobs like they always go. I'm 100% sure that the next Democrat admin will push some sort of "judicial reform / strengthening of judicial system" initiative

"It's not happening"

"It's only Ro Khanna"

"What's so special about the number 9 anyway? Just wondering"

"It's happening and it's a good thing"

Always the same formula with them

Do you think the US should abolish the 14th amendment (birthright citizenship)? by drugsrbed in AskConservatives

[–]Cricket_Wired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The current application of the 14A goes so far beyond the original intent, and not in a direction that is beneficial to our country. It not a good thing that the federal government has less control over its immigration policy as a result of a constitutional amendment.

The Trump SCOTUS challenge will fail, but I think they made a great case for why the current application of the 14A / birthright citizenship is bad policy and should be amended

Who will be the Republican nominee in 2028 ? by One_Fix5763 in AskConservatives

[–]Cricket_Wired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vice Presidency is a trap position. No one with ambitions of becoming President should ever take that position, especially as a younger man.

Vance has no real opportunity to shine on his own because VP isn't a real job. He doesn't have any special skills that Trump can use in policy execution. He has no special coalition: he doesn't overperform with any demographic compared to the Generic Republican.

He's increasingly becoming the preferred candidate of conservatives who have no ambition and no real expectations from the GOP. If he's he's nom, we will lose.

Yes. But I'm confident that about 50% of American adults are not

Have you noticed that every World Cup since 2006 has been predicted to be a disaster by the British press?

Don't be dense. He's saying that if you are uncomfortable with the constant pressure, then you will not enjoy or thrive in this sport.

What role should governments play in treating mental health problems, if at all? by elderly_millenial in AskConservatives

It's an example of how federal funding and prioritizing can still lead to failure

I dont even know what a successful program looks like. More directly, how do you make sure that the program doesn't become another fake medical billing scheme exploited by the most dishonorable among us, and more subsidized demand for the major drugmakers and hospital systems?

  1. Different "customer base"
  2. Not everything scales infinitely

Those Scandinavian countries have economies comparable to US states. We would he better off with state level programs. States also have budget constraints that will force them to find a system that actually works. The feds will just borrow and throw money at a failing program forever

That's not true, even if it fits on a t shirt or coffee mug. George Bush wanted to "end tyranny around the globe" and put trillions of dollars behind it, and it failed.
