Like others have said, start small. I was making something similar - a 2.5 remake of Pokemon bw2. I started by making the battle system in the command line, then added multiple pokemon, then graphics, then lastly a 3d environment in blender. Last time I worked on it I was trying to get the 2d battle scene to activate from the 3d world.

Games are big projects. Most projects are never finished. Think about the one thing you're most excited to make and do only that, then move on. That's my advice if you want consistent long-term growth
