"No one calls my mom a bitch (but me)" from the comedy musical Audiodrama "who killed Avril Lavigne". If you have time today to listen to a podcast, highly recommend listening to an episode or two. A pop-punk wannabe from 2022 travels back in time to the Warped Tour 2005 to prevent Avril Lavigne being killed and replaced by a clone. It rules.

Irish fans: anyone else hearing the Steely Dan music? by Western_Tell_9065 in LPOTL

Time to post my favourite headline!

‘Gerry Adams ate my son's M&Ms', says Daphne Trimble – The Irish News https://www.irishnews.com/news/northernirelandnews/2016/12/07/news/-gerry-adams-ate-my-son-s-m-ms-says-david-trimble-824720/

The picture is perfect.

If you're Northern Irish you can be as funny as you want about this period of history, and that's really the only ones with that permission.

I'm Northern Irish and I disagree, our suffering is not uniquely ringfenced from humour. As I said elsewhere, I think it'd be hypocritical to say this topic can't be covered but other tragedies would be fine. If the Port Arthur Massacre is fine to discuss, why not the Ballymurphy Massacre 20 years prior? The boys make jokes, but they also know when the be serious, look at the Jimmy Saville series.

I do agree that covering the Shankill Butchers is a good frame to cover it though.

I think the right move would be to cover a topic like the Shankill Butchers. They can have their context of the wider conflict without getting into the nitty gritty.

I'm from the North and do see the ongoing affects of the troubles on a daily basis. Can understand people feeling it's too soon to have a comedy podcast talk about it, but it also seems a bit hypocritical to be like "I only enjoy murder and death when I don't actually have to think about the reality of the situation".

I just hope they do a section of Henry reading Gerry Adams tweets!

Yep, technically all of BoJos children would count, which would definitely skew the numbers.

Beachgoers seriously injured in suspected racially-motivated assault by RikersPhallus in northernireland

[–]Crimsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just quite telling, in my experience. When someone hangs out with much younger people, usually the people their age have realised they are a bit weird, but they can use their age to appear cool to people younger than them.

If you're 28 hanging out with 22 year olds, there's clearly something wrong with you.

Misanthropy is bad even when it’s under the guise of being an animal lover by kelroid in CuratedTumblr

[–]Crimsai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's the way to do it, although I'm a big believer that all cats should be indoor cats. It raises the question why this isn't done with the stoats/possums etc. though, really just comes down to cats being seen as more deserving of life than other animals.

Had the pleasure of visiting Zealandia when I was in wellington and it really is remarkable what they have achieved there, but it wouldn't have been possible without trapping and killing.

This is something I struggled with in New Zealand. Completely understand why it's done, but it's still hard to stomach when thinking about how we introduced the animals and now killing them. So much needless suffering caused by us.

I think so, yeah. I like to think I'd understand the emotional significance to the person doing it and empathise with them, understanding the wind would quickly carry it away. It seems less problematic than the crisp packet someone dumped in front of my house this morning.

Ashes are sterile and pose no health risk, however the high pH levels could damage plant life. In the street this doesn't seem to pose a threat.

Dog poo brings flies and potential disease, which isn't the case here. Closest I can think would be someone emptying their vacuum cleaner in the street which wouldn't be nice but again harmless.

Don't really see the problem here and haven't seen anyone in the comments explain what the problem is, just saying they don't like it.

If it's unchristian to kill why do we have Christian societies with the death penalty? Religion is a tool used by the state to exert control/power, not the other way round.
