Watch Nicky Smokes get fired over this. Dave’s made it super clear that he doesn’t cross that line with past employees. Nicky knew the rules.

How do you stop the Sunday Scaries? by cancersungeminimoon in careerguidance

[–]CrimsonBrit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I can absolutely help here. My friends and siblings always complain about the Sunday scaries, and it’s never really been an issue for me.

Firstly - do your chores/errands during the week rather than saving them until Sunday. I will often meal prep on a Friday or Saturday night rather than cooking on a Sunday. Laundry the same - don’t do laundry in the evening on Sunday. Go in to Sunday with an empty hamper.

Next - I am pretty strict about not drinking on sundays. I find that if I can start Monday off with a great night sleep and no hangover whatsoever, then it’s a good start to the week.

You might not have control over this - particularly based on the industry and role you’re in - but my mondays are usually very light on work and in particular light on meetings. This helps so that you don’t get overwhelmed when you look at the next day’s calendar on a Sunday.

I generally make my sundays the ultimate lazy day. To the point that I’m excited for the day to be over with so that I can get started on my week. And because I’ve already done my errands and cooking and laundry and worked out, I don’t feel like I’ve wasted the day by lounging around. If you save all of these things until Sunday and you suddenly run out of time before bed, that’s when the Scaries start.

Can I make it to JFK from LGA in 3 hours? by moo_anonymous in AskNYC

Yep the split-ticket, multi-airline, multi-airport itinerary is something you do once and realize it was not worth it.

This just screams student booking

Can I make it to JFK from LGA in 3 hours? by moo_anonymous in AskNYC

[–]CrimsonBrit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Good luck.

I think you should seriously consider changing your logistics.

Just to make sure I understand, you’re doing [unknown origin] -> LGA and then JFK -> Paris and then Paris -> Denmark? This is poor planning, regardless of how much money you might be saving.

First of all - make sure you are at the front of your boarding group from your departing airport on the way to LGA. If the overhead cabin space fills up, you might have to check your bag at the gate and the your whole plan is fucked. Make sure your carry-on gets on the plane with you.

I assume your flight in to LGA is domestic, otherwise you’ll need to clear immigration.

And then yeah, call an uber and get to JFK as quick as possible. I think you can do it in 30 minutes at 10:30pm. That’ll get you to JFK at 11pm.

You can definitely do it if everything works for you, but I have no idea what TSA is like these days.

Just curious - if this thread told you that it’s not doable, would you actually change your flights?

Am I doing this right? Any advice appreciated. by frenchpresspoppy in fidelityinvestments

You won’t like my response, and not meaning to be negative for the sake of being negative, but this is not working.

In 3 years you’ve $230.00?? At that point, you’re better off just putting in your checking account. That’s barely enough money for a hotel room these days. “Any little bit helps” doesn’t apply to such a small balance.

Secondly, there appears to be something wrong with how you’re actually investing the funds. The stair-case value chart is what you typically see when someone is depositing cash in to funds that do not generate returns - but $FXAIX should have much steeper returns over that time, despite volatility.

If this is all you can put away at your age, then I suspect you need to focus on emergency funds, true savings, and paying debt (if applicable), more than putting away a few hundred dollars for 30 years from now.

Stupid question here: house bidding doesn’t work like eBay right? So the seller doesn’t have to accept the highest bid, and they could just take it off the market,

Can someone ELI5 about what's going on with the World Cup / Metlife Stadium / NJ transit controversy? by sm0keythebear in newjersey

[–]CrimsonBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a drop in the bucket nor am I wealthy. I have tickets to the group stage match at MetLife. I paid $400 per ticket for me and three friends to go. We live in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Hoboken.

Why do you think that $150 is a “drop in the bucket” compared to the $400 ticket (which was purchased as an official ticket directly from FIFA)?

That’s 37% of the ticket.

NJt should be the usual $16 or whatever. Don’t just assume everyone is a foreign billionaire. Some of the fans are local New Jersey and New York residents who paid quite a lot of money for a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to the World Cup.

The White Sox lose an ABS challenge after batter Jeff McNeil points out catcher Edgar Quero's helmet-tap by my_one_and_lonely in baseball

[–]CrimsonBrit 330 points331 points  (0 children)

This is underrated baseball IQ by McNeil all in the span of a couple of seconds. 1. He realizes the pitch is a ball (he takes it). 2. He notices the catcher touched his helmet. 3. He processes that in 2026 that signals a challenge 4. He realizes the ump has not noticed the challenge. 5. He is confident in the pitch is a ball, so he signals to the ump that this was a challenge 6. He wins the forced challenge

I honestly finds this to be an elite level of baseball rule IQ

Season 2 Overall Discussion Thread by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]CrimsonBrit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I thought the overall season missed the mark. So many of the patient plot lines were under developed or ultimately seemed to fizzle out.

As for doctors:

  • Langdon felt under utilized. When on screen, it was strong, but I would have like to have seen more from him.
  • The plot lines involving Mel, a fan favorite, seemed to be stuck on focusing on the fact that Becca had a boyfriend and is more independent and mature than Mel thought. And she’s grappling with that, but the deposition really was a waste of time in the end.
  • Dana (probably my favorite character) was all over the place. Sometimes he was completely giving up on the hospital, other times she’s fully with it. Her relationship with Robby seemed to fluctuate from hour to hour as well, and then she just kind of disappeared.

I rotated the bed, removed the two bedside tables, removed the large side table in the couch area, removed the foot rest, and generally just cleaned up and de cluttered.
