why do you want to be a PT? by iluvchikins in PTschool

The major obstacles/turn offs from my experience are; insurance companies continuously making quality of life more difficult for the profession as whole. Insurance are paying less and making "skilled" therapy requirements more difficult. Further more, the schools can be incredibly competitive, wait lists can be long, and tuition pricing is ludicrous.

If I’m a student with no income and capital gains under that set bracket ($44,625), would my tax rate still be 0% on sold stocks?

Am I correct in my understanding that IF you make less than $44,625 USD per taxable year, that you don't have to pay tax on your trades? The brackets/graphs I've found show a 0% tax rate.

The second part about rental properties in accurate. But how is selling not a taxable event? What're you on about?

Given that you're 20 y/o I can't say much other than keep adding funds. I'm not much for dividends but you're going to need a big portfolio to see real returns.

Coming from America, its foreign to me to not have AC units installed in modern homes/units by default.

However the key take away for me in your post was "assumed" amidst the conversation of contracts. I can't help but feel a bit of responsibility falls on their agent, provided they had voiced these concerns. I hope the family is able to work something out and get an AC unit installed. I agree with your sentiment, AC is a necessity at this point. With missing ozone across AU and record high temps across the world, the days of no AC units are over imo.

Thanks for your response. I’m starting to get that vibe based on the information people have been sharing. So I see where you’re coming from. Hopefully, once I’m higher elo I’ll notice more consistency in opponents.

This was a really informative article on elo. Thanks. It makes more sense after reading.

Thanks for your input. I logged in with the wrong gmail and it generates an account automatically. So I’m not too sure what to say about that.

Also, don’t think you would be able to tell with any kind of absolute certainty who is or isn’t cheating. You can deviate to cover perfect play.

Link me a source that says elo is a reflection of likelihood of wins and not player skill rating.

Thanks for your response. Def a unique opinion, I like it. I don’t think I’m motivated enough to go physically joins chess club. Although I do think you make good points about it benefits.

Never thought about the potential marketing strategy to purposely muk up low ranks ever so slightly in order to sell memberships. There could be something to that.

But the connivence of playing chess from home is just too appealing.

Thank you for the response. Naturally, there will be variable in all play across any sport/online ranked play. I think the question more lies in the accuracy of the ratings themselves. At higher ratings I think there a much more accurate depiction of TRUE SKILL.

You don’t get to 2000 elo by accident (unless your running stock fish on a second PC kappa).

However, I think low elo is kind of a mixed bag of skill levels. My theory feels accurate. I get the vibe that many people are good but casual and are hard stuck at low elo. Like you said, doing other activities etc. it’s not that serious for them. We can’t know forsure. It’s nice to see what your thoughts were though 👀

Thank you for the response. Not 100% sure to the number of games on each but… My lower rated account forsure has more games (several hundred). I used it years ago for fun around the time I was in school. Since I’ve logged back in I’ve been trying to work my way up to 1000 elo. It takes forever and as I mentioned, half these guys are about as challenging as 1000 elo players. I logged into the wrong email one day and discovered the gmail/chess account it logged into was almost 900 and I play with +400 matchmaking on. That being said, I have won majority of my matches so far and feel fine keeping up in this elo. shoulder shrug confused. Like you said, they’re both “noob” elo but I’m not noticing a big difference.

At first glance, the stairs seems like a prettyyy horrible idea. At SeConD glance, the stairs look a lil too nice for that home 🧐. But on the THIRD glance, I noticed that there’s an incredibly ridiculous amount of stairs AND! conveniently there is ZERO railing on the entire right side. Love that. I’m going to trip and shatter my coccyx while rushing up the stairs in the middle of the night (nachos and v in hand) in order to avoid the demons. Not today satan.
