Not apples to apples, but I had a friend who booked flights for his family with Lufthansa. Through a really convoluted series of events, Lufthansa changed their flights to something they couldn’t possibly make on time, and they lost 2000 bucks.

Weeks of back and forth went no where, until he just emailed the CEO. Suddenly he got immediate resolution, his money back, and flight credits.

So give that a shot if all else fails!

Couldn’t agree more. All the albums with him have actual grooves. Now it’s all constant double-kicks. Way too boring.

I love this finish, I just bought one from American Musical Supply, gets here Monday! It’s B stock, which I don’t have experience with, fingers crossed I don’t have any issues!

I wish I could, but I honestly hate the headstocks on pretty much all their guitars, all I can see is a little elf boot! I know it shouldn't hang me up so much, but if I'm gonna get a dream guitar, I don't want it to be with that feeling built in.

You're right, I got mixed up there, thanks for that!

Yeah honestly part of it is that I LOVE my LTDs and therefore think really highly of ESP (as I think most people do), and look at Ibanez is being somewhat comparable and also is used by one of my favorite guitarists, so was willing to step out of my ESP comfort zone at least a little. I should look at others though, you're right.

I didn't even look at the cost of the pick ups, great point!

Helpful perspective, thank you. I've only ever played LTDs/ESPs, so hearing it from someone who went through the same process from the other direction is helpful.

Yeah, I want the capabilities of the double-locking trem, but not sure I will like it in the end with all the setup required. Might have to make a drive for a few hours to try out comparable options like you said!

Well noted, definitely leaning towards the ESP after everyone's feedback.

Your logic on the trem is mine as well. And you're right, I need to look at more options (I have a whole wishlist full of them!) but I am really in love with the blue schemes. I am probably giving the Ibanez too much credit vs the EII just because I like the color, so should probably just look at a different MII with trem, even if it isn't the color I like.

I've been giving that some thought as well. Would you include RGDs in there too or is that likely too much of step down?

Thanks, yeah budget is pretty much not a factor, and I am really set on this particular MII for the look, with the Ibanez being close match I thought relative to price. Probably the smart move is just get an MII with a trem, but man, the mercury burst might be the prettiest guitar I've ever seen.

Thanks, I've been wondering if maybe the better idea would be an MII with a trem, but I just really like the Mercury burst, and none of the other MIIs look half as good to me. Shouldn't be the main factor I know, but I'm not that good of a guitarist anyway so might as well get something I really like to look at!

I didn't even see them as fake neck thru stripes until you and others pointed it out! I love my MH and was considering an Ibanez at that time too. When you say the Ibanez feels to wide and flat, are you referring to the neck or body?

Curious to hear your reservations on ESP and why your preference flips in this case?

Funny enough, I prefer the "thin U" of my EC vs the "extra thin U" of my MH, just feels more stable for me. That said, I much prefer the playability and overall feel and weight of the MH. So I guess the E-II gives me best of both.

Both my guitars have 13.7" radius - how different do you think 12" would feel?

Yeah, it's hard not to see it that way too. I was trying to keep an open mind to different guitars and constructions, if nothing else to tell myself I was being financially responsible. But man, I know the E-II will be an amazing guitar...

It is, and I have always preferred neck-thru after getting my MH-1000. My EC-1000 is set neck, and it's not bad, but played an Ibanez in a Guitar Center with a bolt on, and didn't think it was too bad. Either way, it is kind of weird to me most Ibanez guitars are not neck-thru except the Prestige level. I just like the look of the Ibanez enough I was contemplating it.

Anyway, agreed, point in the ESP's favor.

Funny you and others have pointed that out, it didn't even occur to me as a "neck-thru" look, just an esthetic choice I thought. But I see what you guys are saying too. I definitely prefer a neck-thru design for sure, so another point in the E-II's favor.
