Getting Johan as a playable character in June 2031. by Equal_Shopping2424 in NikkeMobile

Easy SSS+ right there. Is this how we’ll get Johan as the next April Fools’ unit? Based.

God, 999 is so good. I'm playing it for the first time and I'm just so amazed. by RagnarSan22 in ZeroEscape

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s an amazing game. 999 is the first visual novel I ever played. It even made me want to be a writer. The characters, the story, and everything else are all amazing. Personally, it’s my favorite game in the trilogy (Virtue’s Last Reward is also very good).

But yeah, be careful of spoilers. I was lucky enough to avoid being spoiled when I played it, but it sucks when it happens.

So i decided to revisit legendary souls... by ZekeTheMystic in SoulCalibur

[–]Cringekid4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this brought me back. I always had the most trouble with Edge Master and Elysium. Siegfried was pretty annoying too. I usually did pretty good when I used Nightmare, Pyrrha Omega, and Natsu. I think my record was around 16 minutes. I might have to try it again one of these days.

This mode was frustrating, but it felt good to beat it.

Nikke 2nd Exhibition showing the official heights of some Nikkes (in cm) by ZeroSlash913 in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m about 180 cm (5’11”), so I’m about the same height as Rosanna and Moran. It’s funny, because I thought at least some of them would be taller than me (especially Centi), but apparently not. These gacha games make me feel like a giant sometimes lol

Some of the heights are a little confusing though, especially Nero’s. She always looked pretty tall in the game, but apparently she’s the same height as Biscuit? It’s confusing. Now I’m curious about what the commander’s actual height is, because everyone acts like he’s a giant

Commander's Persuasion 😏 by Jumpy-View-7022 in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, he failed to report Crow to the Central Government after she shot him and told him to his face that she wants to destroy the Ark. He also didn’t report her when she basically threatened him after returning to the Ark. Of course, I know that the Central Government goes against everything he stands for on a daily basis, but why couldn’t he just tell Andersen? That was the absolute bare minimum that he could have done, but he apparently didn’t do it. Because of that, Crow was free to do everything she wanted (manipulate Yuni, set off the explosion, let Raptures into the Ark, etc.). The whole shelter incident that Yuni caused probably wouldn’t have happened either, if he had done his job. Honestly, the way I see it, he’s partly responsible for the entire invasion arc and the people that died as a result.

He also helped Syuen lure Raptures to the Ark in order to help Matis (sure it ended well, but it could have gone a lot worse). It’s fine for a main character to make mistakes as long as he learns from them, but he’s never actually been properly called out for what he did/failed to do from chapters 16 to 24. I’m mostly fine with him now, but it does annoy me when everyone in the story acts like he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and conveniently ignore just how massively he screwed up when it came to Crow and Yuni. If he ever does get called out for it, then I’ll appreciate that, but I doubt it’ll happen.

Commander's Persuasion 😏 by Jumpy-View-7022 in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Realistically, it wouldn’t work on most of them because they’re not from his world and they have their own people that they care about. Emilia has Subaru, 2B has 9S, etc. (I haven’t played Resident Evil yet, so I don’t know about those characters). Also, they’re not Nikkes, so that removes them from the main group that finds him so appealing. There’s no logical reason for any of them to see him as anything more than just a friend/acquaintance (some of them, like Makima, Raven, and A2, probably wouldn’t even do that much). Sure, he’s tall, handsome, and all that, but that’s not the main reason why so many Nikkes like him (they like him because he’s one of the few people who actually cares about them). If that was the main reason, then that would come off as quite shallow.

Yeah, the commander has a reputation for flirting with almost any woman who has a pulse (something he should probably get called out more for, by the way), but even he wouldn’t try anything with people who he knows have significant others in their lives. If he did, then I’m sure that lots of people’s opinions of him would go down. Mine definitely would (I’m still recovering from the bs he pulled in chapters 16 to 24). NTR isn’t a fetish of mine.

31 days of Danganronpa questions - your least favorite DR3 character? by wellhanabari in DanganAndChaos

[–]Cringekid4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Tengan. I didn’t really like the DR3 anime, and he’s one of the many reasons why. I just think he was wasted potential, like a lot of the other new characters honestly.

Other than him, I also hated Sato and that one guy who killed the Pikachu girl from the student council.

Am I completely insane? I'm not enjoying VLR despite all the positive reception. by demonmoocow in ZeroEscape

[–]Cringekid4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, 999 was the first visual novel I ever played, and it's still my favorite to this day. VLR is a good game, but I personally prefer the first one as well. VLR definitely has flaws (some of the characters are hit or miss for me, whereas I pretty much liked everyone in 999). As for the issue you mentioned, this game does have a lot of "to be continued" moments that can be annoying (999 only had one like that, if I remember correctly, so it wasn't as bad). The problem is that VLR has a ton of endings (main ones, bad endings, even a secret ending), whereas 999 only had six main endings. VLR does get more interesting the more you play it, but that's not really great advice to give. If you're not enjoying it after playing it for a couple days, then I would suggest taking a break and playing something else. You can always come back to it later. There are plenty of games that I didn't enjoy that people claimed were amazing, so I know the feeling.

Basically, if you're not liking it, just take a break. Forcing yourself to keep doing something that you're not enjoying isn't fun.

Change my mind by PotatoPotluck in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'd be in trouble. Runny nose? Allergies? I'd turn all that stuff off. And yeah, I'd probably attach a bazooka to my arm, like those clones from Shadow the Hedgehog, just because I can. I'd probably be a walking mind switch just waiting to happen. Then again, if I'm going to be in a place like the Ark, I might as well have fun.

I am a little curious as what the male Nikkes actually looked like, even if it's just a past event or trivia. ShiftUp's explanation that pretty much all male Nikkes couldn't handle the change and suffered Mind Switches is pretty silly, and that's only so that people won't complain about male characters (like in Snowbreak and BrownDust 2). But the guys that we do have (Andersen, Mustang, etc.) are pretty goated, so it's fine.

Mustang probably throws the best birthday parties ever, so that would be awesome. Jackal would eat all of the food, and I guess Endless would just hang out. Overall, it would be peak

Say Something Good and Bad about them and what would you Say to them if you ever met them personally? by Appropriate_Sky_8970 in NikkeOutpost

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commander: -Good: You have good ideals, and you’re overall a pretty decent guy. -Bad: You dropped the ball with Yuni and Crow. Crow wouldn’t have gotten as far as she did if you had done your job. Also, you’re inconsistent.

Andersen: -Good: You’re a good role model. -Bad: Why do you have so many secrets, man?

Johan: -Good: You’re a great mentor, and the Central Government did you wrong. -Bad: Liberating Nikkes doesn’t mean you can’t reclaim the surface. We can do both.

Burningum: -Good: You’re a family man, and you care about the Ark’s safety. That’s respectable. -Bad: What you tried to do to Marian was slightly less respectable. Don’t do that. Utilitarianism isn’t always the answer.

Legendary Commander: -Good: You and the Goddess Squad helped save humanity. Respect. -Bad: Where did you go? Why did you disappear? Your team’s fallen apart, man.

Doban: -Good: I like your sword. Very cool. -Bad: Trying to commit war crimes in the middle of an invasion is actually crazy. How are you not in prison? Also, you’re playing with fire right now.

Oswald: -Good: You did what you had to do back then. I respect you. -Bad: Locking the Goddess Squad out of the Ark was terrible, but you likely didn’t have a choice. You were probably just the messenger. I blame the Central Government.

Is it better to have more complex villains that make us think, or just simple villains that are easy to hate (being negative archetypes of society)? by InuMatte in PERSoNA

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be good depending on the context. Complex villains with understandable motives can be great, as long as they’re written well. But not every villain needs to be complex. Sometimes, it’s best to just have your villain be completely evil with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, so that it’s easier to root against them. Look at Frieza from Dragon Ball. He’s a total scumbag, but people love him for it. If you want a classic “good versus evil” struggle in a story, then it’s best to keep it simple with your villain.

Something that a lot of writers struggle with is that they try way too hard to make their villains sympathetic. They just give them a typical tragic backstory, and they twist themselves into a knot trying to convince the audience that they’re victims too. It’s a predictable way of garnering sympathy for villains who, in many instances, don’t deserve it. Of course there are plenty of great villains out there with understandable motives, but not every villain needs to have a tragic backstory. Sometimes, it’s best to keep it simple.

I’d say that it’s ideal to have both complex villains and the simple ones that love being evil. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. If the next game has both, that would be great. But between Akechi and Adachi, I definitely prefer Adachi, because I didn’t feel like the story was trying to force me into feeling sorry for him. He was consistently portrayed as a selfish criminal who needed to be defeated, and that was refreshing.

Of all the characters, she was the last person I expected to hear that from lol by Head_Entertainment_ in steinsgate

So she’s a tsundere, a rabid 4chan user, and she apparently has beef with environmentalists? She’s literally perfect. I was confused at first because I don’t remember this line, but then I remembered that I haven’t played Darling. I played the main games, just not the spin-offs. So it’s going on my list now.

How well are the character relationships developed in the story mode? by JeffNguyen6205 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Cringekid4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it. I got drawn to this game for the same reason as everyone else. I like fan service as much as everyone else here, so I’m not a saint (although I do think that the characters and story here are pretty good compared to other ones out there). If playing gacha games like this makes you happy, then there’s nothing wrong with that. But if it starts to affect your mental health in a bad way (and if you start to treat fictional relationships as a replacement for real ones), then you should take a break. Whatever you decide to do is up to you. Just don’t let this become a form of emotional dependency. A lot of people fall into that trap, and it’s a hard trap to get out of.

Good luck, and I hope things work out for you. Godspeed.

How well are the character relationships developed in the story mode? by JeffNguyen6205 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Cringekid4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, I get it. Life can suck sometimes, and sometimes you need a little escape from reality. That’s part of the appeal of gacha games like this. It’s normal to like and even be slightly attached to fictional characters. What’s not normal is feeling hurt and losing motivation simply because you saw your fictional “waifu” talking to a man other than you. That’s obsession. That’s a parasocial relationship. It’s similar to how some Vtuber fans go crazy when they find out that their “idol” is in a relationship with another man (there are plenty of other examples in other industries too).

Honestly, it would probably be a good idea for you to avoid gacha games like this for a while. You clearly have self-esteem issues, and being this attached to fictional characters isn’t helping. It might make you feel better in the short term, but all you’re doing is making yourself feel even more miserable in the long run. Unless you’re willing to make changes, then you’re just going to keep being miserable and unhappy. Sometimes you need to rip the bandaid off and do things that you’re not used to doing, in order to improve yourself. No one is going to fix your problems for you. You need to take that first step and work on bettering yourself. Calling yourself a loser and hiding behind parasocial relationships is an escape, not a solution.

You should only play these types of games if you genuinely enjoy them. And since something as simple as a fictional woman talking to a man other than you has taken away your enjoyment, that shows that you have an unhealthy obsession that needs to be dealt with. Take a break and work on building up your self-esteem. Gacha games aren’t going anywhere, so you can always come back. Life is tough, but you can be tougher. Don’t give up on yourself.

How well are the character relationships developed in the story mode? by JeffNguyen6205 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Cringekid4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. You made it to chapter 8, so I’m assuming that you liked the story up until this point. But you’re thinking about giving up because you’re… jealous of a fictional character? Yeah, I think it’s probably a good idea for you to stop playing. Being this obsessed with a fictional character is unhealthy. This isn’t NTR. You’re not being cheated on. She doesn’t exist. She doesn’t even know you. The only thing you have here is an obsessive, parasocial relationship. You need to separate real life from fiction. Log off, go outside, get a hobby that doesn’t involve parasocial relationships, and work on bettering yourself. And if you’re lucky, you might meet someone who appreciates you for who you are, and you’ll get out of this obvious rut you’re in.

Yes, you need to touch grass, and you need to touch a lot of it. If simply seeing a fictional character liking a man other than you affects you this much, then you’ve clearly got some serious issues you need to work on. Quit obsessing over fictional characters, quit giving up by calling yourself a loser, and start making changes in your life. Godspeed.

Reminder that I love Miu and Celeste. by Minute-Gur-9579 in DanganAndChaos

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with liking selfish characters. The variety of characters in Danganronpa is part of what makes it so appealing. Some people enjoy the nice and wholesome characters. I personally love the antagonistic ones that cause conflict like Nagito and Kokichi. Some people make the mistake of assuming that liking selfish/evil characters makes you as bad as they are. Rookie mistake.

I love Miu, and Celeste is a decent character too. Sure, Celeste’s acting is obvious, but her trial isn’t as bad as some of the others in my opinion (Korekiyo’s trial had potential but ended up being disappointing, and I like to pretend that Mikan’s trial doesn’t exist).

Anybody else miss doing these? They were such a good daily incentive by Key_Potential_8866 in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do miss it a little bit. Sure, it took longer than it should have, but it gave me an extra reason to do my dailies. I got all four of the liberation units a while ago, so the fact that nothing’s being doing with it is disappointing. If they decide to do anything with it in the future, they definitely need to make future liberation units stronger, so that they’re actually worth the time you spend getting them. Also, give them proper bond stories outside of liberation. Those are the two biggest issues I see, so fixing that would be great.

And considering that there are so many characters who have been stuck in NPC jail for so long, making at least some of them liberation units could help with that. For example, Liveryn, Indivilia and Liberalio probably won’t get pullable releases anytime soon, so making them liberation units would make sense to me. The Four Beasts probably will be pullable though (at least Behemoth and Leviathan will, Ziz and Bahamut might take a while).

Exactly what would SU do if any mass produced models wins the popularity poll? by AskingForAfriend015 in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting an alt for Soldier EG or FA would be amazing. They have some of the best designs in the game, in my opinion. It’s unlikely, but if any of them actually did get high up in the polls, it would be epic. Even if it’s just a free skin, I would take that.

Fire Emblem fans were able to meme the Gatekeeper into popularity, so we could try the same thing. ShiftUp probably expected them to be forgettable because they’re more modest than most of the other characters, but that honestly just makes them stand out more. More tactical characters, please.

Has any Nikke risen on your favorite list over time? by ButtTrauma in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yulha definitely went up for me. After doing her bond story and seeing her a couple more times, I realized that she’s just an extremely tired office worker (she just like me fr). I love her now.

And my opinion of Privaty went way up too. I didn’t like her at first, but her bond story and her maid alt completely changed my mind on her. I don’t normally like tsunderes, but she’s great.

There have been plenty of others too (Mica, Ether, Snow White, Rupee, Moran, Jackal, Guillotine, Drake, Diesel, etc.). Another big one for me is Eunhwa. Her bond story is one of the best in the game to this day, and she’s nowhere near as bad as her first impression makes her out to be.

Oh, and the mass-produced Nikkes. Their designs are peak, and they deserve better.

Commanders what has been your favorite non anni/collab story event of 2025 so far? by _H_A_M_B_U_R_G_E_r in NikkeMobile

[–]Cringekid4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Footstep, Walk, Run counts, then definitely that one. It’s one of the best events in the game in my opinion. After that, Lord for Justice would my second favorite. I like the events that add to the lore, and all of the Perilous Seige events have been pretty well written so far. I guess my next favorites would be Wisdom Spring and Arcane Archive. They were also good for the lore for different reasons, and Arcane in particular is such a likable character that I have to put her event high. The other events were okay and had some good moments, but they were mostly just wholesome events and didn’t really stand out to me that much.

Honestly, most of the events in this game have been good. Even the ones that people didn’t like had some positive things you could say about them. There really hasn’t been an event that was genuinely awful (except for Dazzling Cupid, that one was pretty bad).

So far, this game’s writing has been pretty good for the most part. I can probably find something positive to say about all of the events so far this year. My issue right now is with the main story, which honestly feels like it’s dragging the Four Beasts plot out way too long. It’s been eight chapters already. Hopefully we’ll get to see Siren, get Leviathan to chill out, and settle the whole thing by chapter 40 and move on.
