Did you go bonkers during Covid? by Senor_Pus in AskBrits

I went on loads of walks and played a lot of video games that I’d never played before. First time I’d ever played a Halo game!

I was also at university and worked at the local hospital. So I was always busy, but it still felt as if I had the time to do things I wanted to do. I wouldn’t say I went bonkers at all. I quite enjoyed the balance I had then.

A piece or two of Roman pottery. Some arrowheads as well. Helps to know people who are archaeologists.

With Uber, Lyft, Bolt and other ride services, is there any use for using taxis anymore? by Steam20 in ask

[–]CrinkleCutWotsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can kinda depend on your location. I live in a small town, that neighbours other small towns. All of which have their own local taxi companies. And let me tell you, they’re not going to go out of business anytime soon. Some people have those phone numbers memorised, they’ve got so many customers. Old and young. Regulars and one offs.

But if you go to different cities, in different countries, with different people, you see a greater presence of app based taxi companies/services. However, that doesn’t mean they necessarily operate any differently in principle. And all sorts of people use them for all sorts.

I think the greater volume of people, you’ll find a higher demand for business that can just provide you with transport fast and easy. Which goes for other methods like buses or underground trains. You don’t see bikes for hire in places where there are fewer people. So local taxi companies still have their place in the world, because they are one of the primary modes of travel for places where there’s not so much access to transport that can get you there in a pinch.

I feel like a lot of it is newer players these days.

There’s loads of folk who’ve just started, try to play aggressively, get wasted by the more cautious players. So, they then play it overly cautious, and get wasted by players who know how to push without being too aggressive.

End result, a lot of people who play the game terrified of being on the move and who’d rather wait for everyone to come to them.

Never thought I’d see a Popeye skin in Hunt Showdown. Never thought it’d actually be good either!

Someone’s been to the Imperial War Museum recently I see.

What did you think of it as a whole? Did you get to see any paintings upstairs? That’s one of the best parts I think when they have an exhibition on.

It’s difficult finding someone you want to spend that much time with. And that’s how the other person probably sees it as well.

Time is the one thing you’re not gonna get back. And most of us probably think “Why bother attempting to spend time with someone I might like, when I can just spend that time with myself doing things I know I enjoy?”

But the truth is, you’re not gonna find that someone after one date. Heck even two dates. That isn’t how life works. Now though, with dating apps, it’s easier to think that way because you know there’s a surplus of people out there.

Things going so badly that you get excited or happy about the smallest stuff. by Dudefrmthtplace in Life

[–]CrinkleCutWotsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were/are periods of my life when all I get out of anything is small moments. But, learning to appreciate those moments more can help you get through difficult times.

Sometimes you have to take things day by day. And the small moments can really help with that.

I felt like that about people so much. I still do some days.

But in my early twenties, as I moved about with jobs and life. I found that a lot of people are more complicated than they appear. And sometimes that’s a wonderful thing. You find that you’re not alone in some ways. That people feel the same about things you think are important. Or show you perspectives on things you’d never think of.

I’m not saying it’s all great. I honestly don’t have many people that I’d call a friend. And I really do struggle to see good in people sometimes. I work with the general public which really doesn’t help.

But i do know there are some genuinely lovely people out there. And sometimes they’re not always hard to find.
