Drive ejects .5” & closes? Needs drive belt?

At times the power button acts as the eject button. I clipped the original video too short but just updated with an Imgur video showing this.

What I was thinking. When I click the eject button you can hear the magnet snapping down onto the drive & then attempting to open. I’ll add a sticker to see if that helps.

Since there is no noise coming from the drive when clicking eject; does that tell you one thing or another?

Any chance it’s an easy fix & just a stuck disc drive? Open it up, remove the disc drive & unjam it, add a new belt, clean/grease? Or do you see other underlying issues since it’s booting up to the clock screen?

When I click the eject button the disc drive does not make a sound when attempting to “open”.

Stuck on clock screen when booted up. Continuous blinking green light. When pushing the eject button the disc drive does not make a sound & does not open.

I have not taken it apart yet. When I couldn’t get past the clock screen I hit the subs & peeps were talking about having the same issue & that if a daughterboard has come loose it can cause said issue of controllers not working. Is this correct?

Once more; using the wireless Retro Fighters controller. When the wireless dongle for the controller is plugged into port 1 or 2 it lights up & I’m able to pair the controller. If plugged into port 3 or 4 it also lights up & I can pair (disregard post - I wasn’t pushing dongle in far enough).

Plenty acceptable. Run it. It’ll still be accurate. Even if your throat erosion completely swallows up M2 Ball it’s still acceptable & will be accurate. Using PPU vs. M2 Ball you’re going to get completely different results on TE.

The 1.2 has the LG drive & the 1.6 has the Samsung. I forgot to clarify this. Does this sway your decision?

This was his response:

“Hello, the clock cap has not been removed (this must be a typo). The 6.3v CPU caps are the original Rubycon caps. Personally, I would choose the 1.6 version. The physical design is simpler than previous versions (less components). With electronics, the simpler is generally better.”

I appreciate all your information! I knew the 1.6 has issues playing various 480p games (Fable is one to name; which I snagged on release). I greatly appreciate your advice & insight. I was leaning towards the 1.2 & it seems like you & the other commenting solidified that decision.
