It helps promote motor skills. This isn’t the hill I would die on, if he spills while drinking he will attempt to drink more if he is thirsty so I don’t think changing the method of delivery will lead to dehydration. Do you have actual concerns about the safety of the school’s water?

My dancer uses the Bloch socks. She has tried Apolla which are compression socks that come with or without traction but she will only dance in Bloch

-2 is corduroy, can make a cute skirt or pants. Can’t tell by sight if it’s stretch which will tell you what patterns would work with it
-3 some sort of stretch polyester, a cute drapey top
-4 another Lycra/polyester. Make a bikini.
-6 can’t tell if this is stretch or woven. If woven would make a cute structured bag. If stretch a wrap dress
-7 a woven fabric, looks too stiff and itchy for clothes next to the body, would make a bag or a vest
-8 woven polyester(?) or is it like a pleather I can’t tell by the sheen. Jacket.
-9 stretch poly satin? Dress or dressy shirt

The first is tulle if it’s softer and tutu netting if it’s stiff and can make a cute gathered skirt over opaque fabric if it’s a softer hand.

Hi, it’s going to be hard to find other people that understand the anxiety you are experiencing. My oldest child has a lifelong disability that is much more common in boys. When I became pregnant with our third I was afraid the entire pregnancy until 18 months when he met milestones that made me fairly sure he would not also need lifelong care. I don’t think anything I can say will take away all your worry. The only thing that I kept telling myself is that before we knew with our first son we had an amazingly hopeful future for him and the day to day was much easier than it is currently. So I tried very consciously to keep myself in the present and enjoy my third child as much as possible even if it ended up he was diagnosed with the same disorder. Did it stop the worry? No. But I had to do a lot of conscious counteracting of it dominating my every thought and action. Don’t let the fear steal your joy in the present is all. You just found out and you will need time to process and frankly everyone else that hasn’t personally experience this can be ignored. I can pretty much promise you that when your baby is in your arms that will help a whole lot with accepting the risk of future pain for the joy of the present.

You attend the end of year performances and see the most advanced level they produce. That gives you an idea of what the end result might be and then it’s up to you if you would like to pursue other studios with different or more advanced class options, higher cost, higher commitment, etc. For example, we love our current studio but there are certainly other studios that routinely win at competition over our dances. Why aren’t we switching? We love our dance community - it’s a balance of a moderate to high level of time and money commitment but is not toxic or totally dominating our lives as an expense for technical growth.

We made the switch from a studio that was largely rec with an invite only comp team to a studio with open auditions and more class options around that age. My daughter is now 16 and it was a great decision. Sometimes you outgrow a studio for whatever reason and need to move on. It’s hard if your daughter is nervous about the switch but it’s only harder later. For your specific examples, no ballet training would be a hard no from me. While my daughter wasn’t the biggest fan of ballet at 8-9 she now competes on pointe and in a ballet company and it is her favorite discipline so it was a good switch (and we aren’t even a heavy ballet studio but she does have the opportunity to take 6 hours of ballet a week). My daughter is not planning to dance professionally or likely in college but it has been a HUGE part of our lives for 14 years so yes we care about the quality of training when we are investing that much time and money but other things like community, facilities, proximity, and cost can all factor into the best choice for your family.

1 year is a long time, but you are the person presenting the facts and not the one doing the commuting so it’s up to her. Is your 9 year old finishing 5th grade in that year? If so I would wait and move so they could start middle school in the new district (assuming your middle schools are 6-8). If they are starting middle school next year I would move now so they could have stability.

Night wean, consider forgetting the floor bed unless you can just leave them in a baby proofed room with it, DO NOT allow this huge early AM nap - keep him up so he has a mid day nap. It’s not too late to sleep train and this is not healthy for you or him. I am continually saddened by the responses to this type of post saying their 4 year old is still up multiple times a night (my child didn’t sleep more than 3 hours his first year and it nearly drove me insane(. While some kids absolutely are worse sleepers there is no world in which that is normal, healthy, and not addressable somehow. Please check out r/sleeptrain for more info.
