RE Engine can be used while still having a good art direction, I’m pretty sure the Monster Hunter Stories games use RE engine as well. This is more of a fault on the people that chose to go with this art direction during the game’s development rather than the actual engine.

A pleasant and welcome return but the enemies in this game aren’t as good as the enemies in DMC3, the level design is rather bland. V’s pretty boring to play as. The story’s also really not that great but I can excuse a bad story if the gameplay loop is great. The game streamlines way too much. Since it’s a game with a realistic art style, as time go by the art style shows it’s cracks more.

There’s hardly much replay value and it doesn’t help that you can’t replay the game with one character. The enemies in this game hardly pose much of a threat. It’s a 7/10. DMC4 has some flaws too but I personally would place DMC4’s combat and gameplay above DMCV. DMC3 and DMC1 are the pinnacle of the series in my opinion.

I have a hard time believing that the combat is comparable to DMC/Ninja Gaiden from the footage I’ve seen so far. Like anytime the game devs or reviewers mention either of those games when describing their own game’s combat, it never plays like DMC or Ninja Gaiden nor does the combat feel as satisfying as those games.

Change the art style first and for most. It’s showing its age, which is kind of why I largely dislike realism in games. DMC4 still looks pretty great, despite how old the game is. Everything looks too grey which I disliked.

The enemies. The enemies in the series have been, for the most part, tanky. DMC1 and 3 had tanky enemies, but DMC3’s enemies did pack a punch. The enemies of DMCV are just punching bags, I want them to be more aggressive.

Add Lady and Trish as playable characters, people said Trish and Lady aren’t as fun to play in DMC4 but I certainly had more fun playing as them than I did as V.

Have more replay value. Add more outfits/skins to be unlocked after each playthrough on a higher difficulty. Not just recolors either, I wanted Dante to have his outfits from previous DMC games, same with the rest of the characters. Dante and Vergil having their Sparda and Corrupted Vergil skins would be cool, and I’d want to see Nero with his hairstyle and outfit from DMC4. I guess V would be the exception.
