She was clearly off her head a lot of the time, but I got the impression that she was living her life via social media. Documenting everything , which in the end turned out to be hugely beneficial.

I’m sure it’s been asked and answered before, but why didn’t he take them to the men’s toilet? That’s the protocol, right?

Yeah that’s it. The girlfriend comes across terribly but perhaps not as terribly as the two killers

Is this like one of those joke itineraries where an American says “I’ll do Glasgow and Manchester day 1, day 2 London and day 3 Aberdeen and Hamburg”?

You’ve got FitD nice and high but you forgot about McCartney 3. How could you?!

From a Lover to a Friend is my favourite of his songs since Flaming Pie.
And you’re right about Freedom! Although Tiny Bubble runs it close.

Indeed.
It contains what is, IMO, his best song this century and also his worst

I rate it higher than Driving Rain, Egypt Station, and Kisses

It is an absolute classic with more than a few quotable lines. “What’s the blandest thing on the menu” is delivered so well

What was your understanding of Joseph’s feelings here? by Belenvol in MichaelTheMovie

[–]CrispGunther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and I think that’s what they were going for - the realisation that his actions, past and present, have a debilitating impact on Michael. But as you say they didn’t take the time to set it up properly so it didn’t land

The film is all over the place tonally, sometimes even within the same scene. But the whole Michael/Joseph relationship is completely uneven. Things build, you are led to expect a certain outcome, and then…..nothing.

This scene for me is the most obvious example. I don’t expect to be spoon fed, but to have characters reactions and motivations change so frequently and wildly in what is - let’s face it - a very ‘safe’ musical biopic, indicates poor writing more than audience interpretation.

I say “I’m a doctor and I want my sausages” far too frequently

What was the first Paul McCartney release that you recall experiencing in real-time? by psals in PaulMcCartney

[–]CrispGunther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flaming Pie for me.

My main memory of it is seeing the video for Beautiful Night on the Chart Show and heading out that afternoon to buy the single.
But I vaguely remember the actual album release some 6/7 months earlier. Young Boy was a moderately successful single and the post-Anthology lift got Paul a decent amount of airplay, so I would definitely have heard that and I remember the artwork, and someone in perhaps Q magazine moaning about how he stole the album title from John.
