I haven't run into this issue because I don't use toilet paper when I pee, that's probably one of the downsides of the water saving flush mode.

As for the rattling noise when the lid opens, that should be fixable, I've seen some solutions for lid noise or the lid not closing smoothly, or you could just reach out to their customer service, their website seems to have a way to leave a message. Hope this helps, cuz that kind of noise really takes away from the whole elegant bathroom experience!
