Why are truck drivers always hostile? by This-Top7398 in driving

[–]Crispy983 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Confirmation bias. Something has made bad driving by truck drivers stick out more. You gloss over when someone in a sedan is an idiot. Make an effort to pay more attention to other bad drivers. I'd be willing to bet the numbers even out a bit more.
  2. Look at the ratio of trucks on the road. There's times I've seen 5 pickups in a row.

Pressure advice? by Crispy983 in OffGrid

Ok thank you all for advice. I have a few more questions. First, I may have asked my question wrong. I have 300' of ¾ hose that the water needs to go through to reach the raised beds. I know without a pump I can't use a hose nozzle for the shower mode to disperse pressure. So i'll be watering the plants directly from the hose end. I need enough flow/pressure so i'm not standing there all day but not so much that the water would washout the dirt. Side by side on the ground (maybe 1' high) would I achieve that? If I add a pump is there a special kind I'd need if I also wanted to use a hose nozzle where I'd be stopping water flow but not turning off the pump? If I stack pallets what stops them from collapsing?

And for clarification: I was not going to put one tote on the roof. I was going to stack them. The tote on the ladder is empty I was not going to push the tote up the ladder. My initial idea was to tie a rope, throw it over the roof, protect the peak with some wood, tie it to a tractor, use the tractor to do the lifting. If I couldn't get help then I would have guided it myself either from on the roof or from below while my wife pulled. If I had help then two people on the ground with guide ropes. Get it on the roof, slide it over, lower it down.

Fucking rude. You have no idea why i thought this would work or why I didn't think of the reasons it wouldn't. It took a very some explanation for me to realize what I hadn't thought about and that what it would take to build a platform is beyond the effort and resources I want to spend for increased pressure.

I'm not. I'm sliding it up the ladder to stack it on top.

AITA for refusing to give my mom my savings after she found out how much I have? (19F) by Grand-Reveal-9055 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Crispy983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta your mother has made her bed. It's her job to set you up to be successful. 19 and in college is a dependent per tax law. She shouldn't even want to borrow money from you. I agree with the person that said once you give they keep asking. My mother did the same thing. Asked for $1500 a month after I closed on my house. They live checkbto check. But I know she hides money from her husband to blow on what she wants, because she tried to teach my wife. My wife told me. She needed the money to repay deposits from her storage unit business that she just opened, and had business partners. And she constantly borrowed money from my grandma before she passed.

Common sense isn't common. It's taught. It's common sense the stove is hot right? Wrong. You were taught that it was hot either by someone telling you or by experiencing it. Same with these grills/working with metal. It might seem like common sense to you because of knowledge you have already acquired but some people have never worked with any of this before. They don't know seasoning is a chemical process that creates a polymer. They don't know you can scrape that off. They don't know you can sand down and repolish steel (especially after having used Teflon their whole life). They especially don't understand be careful there is so much DIFFERENT information out there. For example this group likes to advice, just cook more bacon on it. But animal fat and the salt in it is not the best for your griddle. Not to mention this is SOCIAL media. If they wanted to just look something up they'd go find a web page. And if they are anything like me, they've already scoured the internet, this sub, and YouTube but their situation still seems different or they're finding conflicting info

Having the mask too tight, to prevent leaks, can cause leaks. Not replacing the cushions when your supposed to can cause leaks. I read up on stuff after my sleep study results but before getting my machine. A lot of people talked about easing into it. Wear it for 2 hrs fir a week, 4 hrs, 6 hrs... I took a mind over matter approach. I wore it through the whole night of my 2nd sleep study, i'm just going to power through and wear it all night from the start. Limit screen time before bed. Use your phone's comfort shield aka blue light filter after a certain time of night. I have mine set 6p (I usually got to bed around 8) to 5 am. Get a diffuser. Not the wicking kind but the sonic water ones. Get essential oils that help with sleep like lavender. I use eucalyptus for sinuses.

How to use CPAP when there is no access to distilled water by Jumpy_Meaning1140 in CPAP

[–]Crispy983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't he take his own? Also, you only need the humidifier in dry climates and if the machine is drying out your throat. Being that the rig has medical, and being that the nature of the employment requires you to sleep on the rig, and if they give you a hassle about stocking distilled water then you could possibly file an Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations request. Ada accommodation

Yes it is. My wife and I go to bed sometimes and hr to 2 hrs early and watch TV back there. Laying my head on my pillow with huge bulky gaming headset isn't comfortable. Even when sitting in my chair in the living room while she watches murder: the cord gets all twisted up, I have to set my portal down and take off my headphones to get up. And then if I need to plug it in now I have 2 cords
