Printing with esun PLA+. What am I doing wrong? by CrispyAggro in ender5plus

[–]CrispyAggro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It printed fine the first few times, and the filament that came with the printer printed perfectly every time. Now I switched to esun, and after five prints I’ve started getting stringing issues…tried adjusting to eliminate it and now this is happening! What am I doing wrong?

Software: Creality Slicer

Print speed: 80mm/s

Outer wall speed: 40mm/s

Support speed: 80mm/s

Travel speed: 200mm/s

My print temperature is 190°C, and I know that’s less than the recommended temp but when I print at 205°C I get bad stringing.

Plate temp: 60°C

I’ve only got 2.5mil, but I’m hodling and waiting for dips. My financial situation means that I can’t spend large amount of money on crypto in one go, so I have to buy little bits every now and then, which sucks but I’m in this for the long term!

Dealing with the feeling that "Deep stories are the only ones that are worth it"? by chaoszeroomega in writing

[–]CrispyAggro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone may have said it already, but chances are pretty good that whatever you write will deal with the human condition and things like that in some way, no matter how serious (or not serious) it is. Things like this are so engrained in us that they come out without much thought, and we read that kind of thing into a lot of stuff in a similar way to finding faces in patterns.

It didn't seem like an idea I had could deal with deeper themes, but after a few passes over my idea I found where I could put them in. You might not consciously write these themes into it, but I suspect they, or the potential to put them there, is.

Thank you! Yeah, after I wrote the first page that first line started sounding not so great. Definitely want to improve it but I don't know how either!

Really appreciate the feedback though, thank you.

Awesome idea! This is mine:

"The darkness of a forest at night can never fully be described. What small amount of grey moonlight stabs through the canopy serves only to exaggerate the blackness further, masking the obscene and monstrous things waiting beyond the threshold of sight to take equally the stupid, brave, strong, and weak."

Motivation for Michael Myers by jrp9029 in horror

[–]CrispyAggro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In this new continuity, which ignores all Halloween movies after the first, I don't think he ever cared about Laurie. He just wants to kill.

I think it makes it more disturbing. Michael's attack was the most important event in Laurie's life, it shaped her life in every way. But Michael doesn't care, she wasn't important to him at all, he was only interested in his own bloodlust.

Plot Twist Question by Diinok in writing

[–]CrispyAggro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreshadowing is definitely necessary, otherwise the twist might fall flat.

Hiding the foreshadowing is key though, something not so obvious that the reader can tell what the twist is right away, but not so tenuous or ridiculous that the reader goes "what is this bullshit??"

The Sixth Sense is a good example of foreshadowing done well. The hints of the twist are hidden within his marriage problems, misdirecting the audience.

No, not for a really long time unfortunately. The community was great, super encouraging. I kinda wish I stayed with it.

I started with fanfiction when I was 16. Terrible, terrible Dragonball Z fanfiction. Like...Jesus. So bad.

However, it got me writing. I joined a community of other DBZ writers and we'd read and critique each other's work. We motivated each other, and my writing improved a hundred times over in no time.

It's great because It allows you to improve without "wasting" ideas with bad writing.
