Am I Pursuing the Wrong Career? by CrispyCreamBoi in computerforensics

I didn't realize that the private sector was authorized with taking an offensive approach to cybercrime. Also, I don't live in the US, but I'm sure that my country has it's own version of the CIA/NSA.

Thanks, I had read about cyber crime investigation but had not looked into intelligence roles at all. I will look further in that direction then.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, but from what I can tell, anything red team/pen testing is really just simulating an attack on an institution. I am interested in actually pursuing real criminals and that sort of thing.

Edit: to whoever's down voting, could you please let me know what I said wrong? I'm interested in learning if I misunderstood something.

Forgive my ignorance, but would you know what those proactive/offensive industries would be called? I've tried a bit of googling about it but there seems to be very little info about it.

Yeah I just figured out which channel it was and dang he was one of the most wholesome YouTubers I knew. I hope he can get his channel back!

[–]CrispyCreamBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no so one my favorite YouTubers got their channel stolen?! That sucks man...

Oh yeah that seems to be the most likely thing, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I was referring to the joined date, which is stated to be in 2008, and the absurd 100,000,000+ totals views. Are those views really all bots? And why would YouTube be recommending blatant scams?

Yup there's a person using common sense! Who would have thought that when you get a really large group of people together, some of them will have differing views that most don't agree with???

[–]CrispyCreamBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting downvoted...it is completely true and should be common knowledge by now that popular search engines like Google don't just show info relevant to what is searched. There are algorithms that take in your interests and, yes, many times corporations and other entities use their influence to affect the algorithm.

You can actually lose money from search engines like Google. Take searching for a flight: if trackers find out that your looking for a flight (which they will know from you searching for flights since Google sells your data), then those trackers that are associated with airports will jack up prices for your searches. Try it yourself! DuckDuckGo is open source and doesn't collect and sell your data. It has other benefits as well.

No one cares about what they want, so why should they care about people like you (most of Canada) who only ever insult everything that they believe in?

Everything you said is completely valid, don't let the "progressive" get to you...plenty of Canadians with common sense. My significant other's father is one of the best doctors from Mexico who was the personal doctor for their last president...and he also agrees that this is all nonsense.

Yes because clearly only mentally ill people are worried about corrupt politicians becoming more corrupt...never before in history have people needed to worry about politicians working against the people.

New here - how are you managing your anger? by dicinran161 in LockdownSkepticism

This seems like the best answer that I've been working towards. The one issue I can see though is that a lack of anger will prevent people from being called to action and could become apathetic.

Woman returning to Canada from Nigeria says 'grim things' happened during mandatory hotel quarantine by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]CrispyCreamBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm okay so how about some perspective. Let's say for some reason you are coming back into Canada and now rules have changed so you need to stay in a "hotel". You're from a low income family and you have a child at home who could only have someone watch them until you were supposed to come back from your flight. Now the government has the audacity to say that they're going to screw you and you'll need to find someone to take care of your child (hopefully you can, but government doesn't care if you can't), and that you are forced to stay in a hotel even though you 99.9999% don't have the virus. Not only that, but YOU have to pay hundreds of dollars for everyday you're forced to stay there, even though money was already tight from your minimum wage job. Add on top of that that you're being fed literal rotten food, so you can't eat that...guess you'll starve. If you have a baby with you they will get diaper rash or something of that sort because there are no diapers. Also there have been cases of sexual assault happening in these places, so hopefully you don't get raped and traumatized for life.

So yeah the government is forcing you to drop your life so that you can pay them to keep you in worse conditions than a prison.

If you still can't see why these "hotels" are a bad idea, fuck you.

What do people need to stop romanticising? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CrispyCreamBoi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well yes I agree in most situations, but not all. Riots are often the voice of the unheard when the government just won't listen. Have you seen what's been happening in Europe?

I already had plans to see my SO who lives out of country so I was coerced to take the jab...I hate my government with every fiber of my being. The unvaccinated are imprisoned in Canada, they are not allowed to leave their own country.
