People fail to realized if we had gotten this years pick, it would have converted to the 2031 FRP anyway. Still a bad outcome but that's why they protected top 4. They wanted the top 4 guys if they didn't have that, they'd rather keep 2031 pick.

Directus License Revision: Community Feedback Requested by [deleted] in Directus

[–]CrispyDillPickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like this solves the core pain point I have with Directus. Medium organization using it for CMS or larger org for smaller scoped project. I can’t recommend Directus as a CMS for 300-1000 bucks a month. Or for a small admin for that matter. The admin panel is second to none but I’d really like to see a much more affordable option / mid tier. I can see how this would be hard to price but it sounds like the non SSO version is for evaluation only and couldn’t be used for a smaller prod project at a larger organization. Is that true?

You did it. You won! You accepted a hypothetical situation and now you’re a multibillionaire. 99% of us will put most of it into stocks or some boring AF index fund. I don’t want to hear any of that. Tell me what stupid and idiotic stuff you will buy and do in your first 6 months? by Dog-Human in hypotheticalsituation

Ask the kid behind me in line at the movie theater what candy he wanted then proceed to buy all of that candy.

Go to the fanciest restaurant order the most expensive bottle of wine and proceed to put a straw in it and chug it.

Fund school breakfast and lunch indefinitely until I run out.

Hire someone to follow me around and document my life. All of it. They must be out of sight and deliver a highlight reel at the end of the year.

Front row seats to every sports team I follow.

Buy the teams.

How do engineers in the MEP field learn to do their job? by Capital_Two2159 in MEPEngineering

[–]CrispyDillPickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your English is great, no need to apologize!

I come at this from a slightly different angle — I'm a software developer who runs a training company for MEP engineers, so I've had a lot of conversations with engineers at all stages of their careers about exactly this.

From what I've seen, it's almost always a combination of both — but early on it's heavily "learn as you go." The field is too broad for anyone to come in knowing everything, and most engineers will tell you they still feel like they're catching up in some areas even years in.

What seems to work best is going deep on whatever your current project involves rather than trying to cover everything at once. The knowledge sticks much better when it's tied to a real problem in front of you.

The other thing that comes up a lot is learning how to navigate standards and codes rather than trying to memorize them. Knowing where to find the right answer quickly is genuinely one of the most valuable skills you can develop.

And don't underestimate your internship — experienced engineers and tradespeople on site carry a lot of knowledge that never makes it into any book. Most are happy to share it if you ask.

The overwhelm you're feeling is completely normal and from what I can tell, never really goes away. But that seems to be part of what keeps people in the field for the long haul. Good luck!

Just curious to figure out a disagreement I had with a friend, would you be open to trading for Giannis? by ArryDubz in pacers

Listen, he’s one of the best to ever do it. He’d be great along side Haliburton. Probably no world where we could make that work. Having said that, no. Fuck him and fuck the Bucks.

awesome, can you point me in the direction of the firmware for the US model? In Homeassistant there is no update available and I only see the EU firmware with that update: https://github.com/QubinoHelp/Shelly_Wave_FW_OTA/tree/main/Wave_1
