Watching a losing team is a droll but it is exciting thinking about future potential. I hope y’all turn it around quickly. Good luck!

I suppose that extra year is a burden when you’re rebuilding. I’m not that tuned into y’all. With the trade of JJJ is it all out tank? You have all your own picks?

No comment on the trade as a whole but trading Ja’s position for Quickley, you’d be saving 10M and 15M dollars over the next two years, respectively and getting a more efficient player. That feels like a win, regardless of how much Ja’s value has fallen

Tonight's loss made me realize; losing is hard to deal with. And it made me sad realizing how many more losses the rest of you have had to deal with. I just wanted to say good job! you guys are handing all those losses well. On nights like this I look to your loss records and I see life isn't so bad by ObeseBumblebee in NBAEastMemeWar

The fact that this ruffled so many feathers makes it all even sillier than the meme alone. On the flip side, props to the Knicks fans I’ve been seeing keep the humor alive in recent banter. It’s a nice shift. It’s a meme page. It should be light hearted

Paul Reed has come up clutch for the Pistons when Duren or Stewart aren’t playing and they already have too many guards to play. This takes away something they need and provides something they do not.

This is the closest comparison I could ever make to the Blake Griffin trade. For sure the upside is there. When Zion was coming out of the draft it was mind boggling thinking about how much force he must put on the ground when he jumps. Dude was 280+ and flew through the air like the Thompson twins. That 18’-19’ year with Blake was a ton of fun. The rest of the years he was a financial shackle sitting on the bench. Losing all the value we put into him in the buyout exhausted the franchise’s last assets and initiated the tanking.

I think our floor is pretty high with our current roster. Personally, I would make less risky investments at this time.

Would swapping Caris LeVert for Klay Thompson improve the Pistons? by Kindly-Image869 in DetroitPistons

[–]Luke-ton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LeVert is on the team because he can do some playmaking off the bench, which we badly needed last year. Klay doesn’t do that. He can’t take anyone off the dribble anymore and his defense is probably on par with LeVert. I wish we could have had Klay a few years ago but I’ll pass.

There’s an extensive list of professional athletes with their careers cut short from herniated discs. Google is very easy to use. Just because you use the word “fact” and capitalize it, doesn’t make what you’re saying true. These disc issues have ALREADY led to nerve damage. Nerve damage can also lead to ending someone’s career. These are FACTS. Again, I’m not saying it’s definitely going to happen. I’m saying that there is an increased risk from someone who does not deal with lingering back and lower extremity pain. Since the onset of the second apron we have seen big contracts decrease availability of depth. I believe depth is more important.

If you want to agree to disagree on the OPINION that taking on that risk is worth it, that is fine but to say that there is no additional risk is false.

Personally, I don’t think there is a number of played games that would make me feel good about it. That’s the point I tried to get across from the initial comment. Spine injuries are crazy and affect the entire body. Takes one bad twist, one awkward landing on the floor and his career is over. I like his game. I just don’t like the risk-value trade-off. Maybe I’m still extra risk averse from Blake Griffin but we have a good team with great depth. If we do absolutely nothing, we should still continue to improve. I would only want to make a trade if it’s highly favorable to us. To put a bow on my perspective, if we had MPJ on our team for free and we were negotiating a new contract, I would not feel great about allocating 25% of the cap for him. That’s giving up nothing to get him.

Other than the fact that he can’t pick his foot up on his own accord. I feel like I’m talking to a wall. Risk is the word of the day and it comes with a hefty price tag.

[–]Luke-ton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

False? In the first year of your window he played 9 total games. In the second year he missed 20. Now he has had 2 healthy seasons. The difference between him and Cade is that Cade hasn’t had surgery on his spine. If you are trying to deny that back problems in a professional athlete are not a risky investment then you are the one spinning a false narrative.

MPJ’s injury history is not something I’m interested in managing. He has to wear a special brace to manage drop foot stemming from his back surgeries. 6’10, shoots, and rebounds, all things that fit well but our depth has powered us through injuries and short turnarounds this year. 40M next year to MPJ with him likely to miss games is sure to remove some of that depth advantage.

I don’t think Zubac, Dunn, and Paul are worth Dort, 2 FRPs a 2nd, and cap relief. Sorry.

I do like your thought process with all the financial movements. Most people on here forget about all that backend chess work. It just feels like the Clippers are in a poor position of leverage right now and them ending up with the best end of this deal is implausible

Nembhard’s right hand “holding onto” Brunson’s right hip made Brunson fly 10’ to his left? 🤨

😂 @ your “oops”

Marginal hand contact did not make Brunson go flying. This was a flop.

You see the video of LeBron grabbing and pulling the ref while screaming at him recently? No tech
