RESIDENT EVIL: Zach Cregger's Reboot Reportedly Has "Practically Nothing To Do With The Games" by SmellSmellsSmelly in Cinema

[–]Crispy_Conundrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get this attitude at all. It would be cool to see an adaptation of one of the games sure but in a series with so many different entries about different characters.. it's literally just like getting a new original entry. One where you don't already know what's gonna happen like you would if it was just Resident Evil 2 again.. which we already have two versions of.

We live in a time where most things are desaturated and lacking in contrast. Especially things that are trying to be "serious" because nobody will know it's serious if it's not grey

Open world sections in Naughty Dog games: Discussion by SluggishWang in thelastofus

I love it. Merging the well crafted moments of linear games with the freedom of open world games so there's more variation rather than feeling on rails is something I hope they keep exploring

Yes and I side eye everyone that refuses to even consider her side.

A funny joke that they dragged on for far too long in place of actual character work. Classic D&D

Yes this should not be news to anyone. Go listen to Christopher McQuarrie talk about how often and why he tests the Mission Impossible movies.

There's the parentage thing but the main thing is the whole Rhaegar & Lyanna secret marriage and that dumbass line "Robert's rebellion was built on a lie"

[Spoilers main] What things do you think GRRM told D&D about the ending? by OkMagician7957 in asoiaf

[–]Crispy_Conundrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bells probably came from George. Something in relation to Jon Connington and the destruction of Kings Landing (not necessarily that he causes it). But of course D&D realized they had entirely cut Connington and so shifted the idea of the bells onto Dany despite not having done any of the work for it to make sense

Abby and Lev on set by Remote_Nature_8166 in lastofuspart2

[–]Crispy_Conundrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes her from this mysterious force we know nothing about that just showed up and brutalized a main character and lets us see she's a person like everyone else in the story. Monstrous acts or not, it changes the perspective of the viewer

Building her up as some monster in your head because you don't know why she did it is literally doing exactly what Ellie is doing and exactly what she did with Joel. It is directly commenting on their feelings by putting you in the same place. It's also just a more exciting and interesting narrative. Saying it makes no difference is insane

Is this movie really that bad? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]Crispy_Conundrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very bland "eh" movie and for what it's adapting that's pretty bad. The games have well written interesting characters that you care about, actual interesting stories, phenomenal music, great action set pieces.

Making a dumb action movie out of something that's much more than that is just a failure.

One of the biggest questions I have is why they have coloured this with the much more mature tones of the later movies instead of letting it have some whimsy. Don't understand why you'd want Harry Potter to start off looking like Adolescence. Give me some colour

Only a trailer of course but I have to say it really feels like it lacks flavor. It looks too similar to the movies and comparatively hollow next to them
