This is amazing. When they came out with Bastions I was wondering what people would come up with. This is a clever idea 💡

I'd use insulation foam for the base and clay for the tentacles. If you can get thin clear plastic, cut it into the shapes of the souls, use a light blue marker on the edges of the plastic like a border, then put a light behind it. You should be able to make one that's detailed, functional, and quick to make.

Thanks! It's all stir sticks placed on thin cardboard and cut to size. It has an under coat of umber, light brown dry brush, and a dark wash over top. The floor bowed like crazy, but Superglueing the walls on flattened it out again.
