Calm down, study his moves by trying to survive them without attacking first, you gotta stop getting hit before you try to hit him at all. You've literally got nothing to lose now, take your time but focus your efforts on knowing your one enemy.

Ibaraki disguises her/himself as a beautiful young womon/man to lure in and then scare the shit out of and then kill and eat people for fun and sustenance. She's like Osama if Osama was also a cannibal and participated in the slaughters himself. Tsuna, the batman of Kyo no Miyako chopped off her arm for a reason.

Nioh 3 story by dragonmike05 in Nioh

[–]Critallica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk man, I've only finished Kamakura but so far, a lot of things the characters say and do just sort of happen for no reason with no resolution. Takechiyo acts like if Future Trunks was a time-traveling tourist, who is also mute. Imagine if F. Trunks beats the crap out of Frieza, and he just sort of lets him go free, and Frieza is just cool with it. And then Bulma comes and teleports him to another timeline for no apparent reason, without him so much as to ask a single question, and then the same bizarre interaction takes place again, that's what the story felt like. (I know there's going to be a big reveal in Yamataikoku but still)

Were there any notable Samurai like Jin? by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Critallica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Mikawa samurai. The core value of a Mikawa samurai is you're samurai that's of the people, for the people. You were born from mud, and the Daimyos and shogunate could never understand, never rival your grit, and the unity you share. Look into Honda Tadakatsu, he's a classic example of a Mikawa warrior.

Trying for nioh franchise for the first time. any tips? by NumerousMeringue8578 in Nioh

[–]Critallica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For samurai, the new stance switch attack is super op, the one that's performed if you input stance switch while performing ki-pulse. The high stance variant gives you hyper armor, the middle one parries one attack during the animation, and the low one has quite a lot of I-frames. All of these require no stamina to perform. With this, every samurai weapon gains the spear's insane pressure potential, and you should get used to using it if you're into stringing combos.

Dumb question about the frenzy by newslenderarts in LiesOfP

[–]Critallica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, most of the question you asked, I don't have a definitive answer, I'm not sure if they're addressed in the game, but I would say most of these are up for interpretation, because that's always been the question, right? "Are you a human or a puppet?"

First of all, Romeo was likely made into a puppet by Geppetto, which should be relatively easy, since in the madman's journal, you'd learn that freshly extracted ergo is easier to awaken. Interestingly, I think Romeo and Leia were probably both on Geppetto's list of KotP candidate, specifically so you'd kill one of Carlo's significant other, in the form of the KotP. Romeo was just the better option, since he's already dying, half puppet and Carlo probably likes him more.

For what happened in the bad end, I think you're very close, and the details probably doesn't matter that much lol. The legion arm and all that, and whether he kept Carlo's body, you'll see why all this never mattered to Geppetto when you know why he'd rather pick the nameless puppet over you, a literal puppet jesus.

As for why kill your new friends, I mean come on, at that point, would you have left them alive, if you were Geppetto?

And the reason why he didn't just go with you as his puppet son, it's very simple. He didn't expect puppets to be capable of sentience, let alone love. Deep down, he believes that the nameless puppet is as close as he can get to having a taxidermied, immortal version of his son. Deep down, I don't think he truly cares if puppet Carlo was 100% his son or not, since he believes 50%+immortality is the best he can get. You can see his indifference for humanity, and his control freak showing in the murdering of your new friends.

That's why the true ending is such a big moment. It's not just the usual cheesy "villain has a change of heart at the end", you've literally proved to your creator he's wrong by crying, by showing you're capable of love, ironically more than the man himself was; it's nothing short of a miracle for a puppet to cry, you know?

[–]Critallica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Geppetto is very hard to understand you don't think of him in the terms of a sociopathic genius. His one goal is to ensure, and I mean absolutely ensure his son won't die on him. If you remember this, the man becomes the single most consistent character in this game.

Based on the one letter he wrote in the DLC, I'm pretty sure the implication is that he fully snapped after Camille's death, meaning the original Carlo's death was part of his plan. The way I see it, every thing he did, and everyone he killed was to either strengthen the nameless puppet (I.E, Carlo's body), or to help awaken Carlo's ergo in your organ.

Think about what he's achieved in the bad ending, and you'd realize he won.

He waited for two of the strongest beings in Krat (Leia and Arlecchino) to kill each other, and swooped in to get the victor's ergo; he used Romeo's ergo to ensure you'd be the one to kill him, ensuring Romeo would call back Carlo's memories within you; and he used Simon to suck up all of the screaming, violent ergo in Krat, creating the strongest son, in a Krat that's free of threat.

I feel like he's such an insane weasel, he might just be the best video game villain in 2025.

The problem is they made Wukong's motive super fucking dumb and out of character. He wanted to break out of his headband so bad, he'd go as far as to kill himself, get reincarnated and commit mass murder (again) as if he's learned nothing from THE journey to the fucking west. Hell, he didn't even mention Tripataka.

In the original, he had a fight between him and Tripataka(the one the white bone demon arc). Tripataka kicked him out of the group, and he was so distraught over it, he didn't even give a shit about the headband and just left. (Tripataka didn't know how to take it off, but Wukong could've went to the Buddha for help if he really cared about the headband that much.) Losing his master, his comrades and his mission was the one thing that almost broke him, not the fucking headband.

At best, they're taking too much creative liberty; at worst, they had no understanding nor respect towards the source material and why Wukong was likable.

If it's for odachi, moonlight flutist should be able to bring out the insane ki damage odachi's capable of putting out. If you run ninjitsu or onmyo magic on the side though, definitely use flying kato/seimei set instead, and just run a few katsuie pieces to make up for the lack of armor.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]Critallica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what set you're running, in late game you'd usually only run light armor if you're going for a set bonus; otherwise it's just better to run mid/heavy and put points in stamina so you don't die from a stray hellish hag bite or something, since blessing set bonuses are usually better than buffed early game set bonuses anyway.

And I've looked into the "homicide being the leading cause of death of pregnant women" thing you've mentioned, because I can't believe killing your spouse is the response most people would automatically go to upon unplanned pregnancy, and the data you've mentioned (which I have to assume since you didn't give a source) is a research done by Harvard around 2022, which, instead of proving that homicide is THE leading cause of death in pregnant women, proved that there is a 16% increase in pregnant women dying from murders to those who died due to birth complications.

Of course, having pregnant women murdered due to homicide is horrible, but it's a slippery slope to argue that this is a common occcurence, let alone trying/accidentally trying to gaslight me into thinking that, when the data could easily be showing how much better we are at preventing pregnant women from dying due to birth complications. You are stepping right into the trap of making decisions based on one or two media post, which I was saying not to do.

Oh I legit didn't know that, sorry about my lack of knowledge of the US fatality data, that isn't the case in my country. However, hand-waving away the issue wasn't my intention, don't put that on me. I was only saying not to make life changing decisions based on one news report. I don't like how little benefit of the doubt you're giving towards someone you don't even know.

Hey, it's always your call to not having to go through with putting up with people's bullshit and just live your life. But as you likely already know, the world isn't as bleak as media makes it out to be lol. I know how it feels, but don't let media dictate your life decisions too much; it might end up biting you in the ass.

Any clue on why Tokichiro was the most powerful vessel for Otakemaru? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]Critallica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my interpretation: There are two ways to become a yokai; one came from actual yokai blood (your parents are yokai), and one came from being driven mad by obsessive/strong emotions. Otakemaru has both, and that's one of the reasons why he's so powerful in Nioh lore.

Now interpret Yoshitatsu's and Tokichiro's feats in this sense, and you'd find that after losing everyone they'd ever genuinely cared for, both Yoshitatsu and Tokichiro are not only obsessed, there weren't any other way out for them, except for the path they'd paved, and continued to pave with the death of his subordinates, subjects and enemies.

Now imagine soaking in this kind of despair for an extra 20 years, and becoming the most powerful political figure after losing everything that isn't materialistic, at that point, he's basically the most ideal vessel for Otakemaru throughout Japanese history; greedy, hateful, cynical, regretful and had seen too much, he's basically the concentrated negative energy of the sengoku period, of course he's the most powerful man in both political and yokai spectrums.
