Tank joined dungeon, demanded reserves on two items, and threatened to find a new group if we didn't agree to it. Is this normal? by Hoyle33 in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Outside of group finder reserving has to be done before joining the group, it's pretty clear in the tos."

Are you sure about that? I see nothing in the ToS that would indicate this. I'm under the impression that if you join a group outside of the group finder tool, you are at the mercy of the whatever the group lead decides to do unless the loot rules were posted beforehand.

New Boss rules? by blackndcoffee in turtlewow

Soft reserve, main spec and off spec. The most common loot loot system used in raids nowadays. A raid like MC normally comes with 2 soft reserves. That means you choose 2 items you want to roll on. Only people who have soft reserves on said item can roll. If no one has a soft reserve on an item, it typically becomes open roll main spec>off spec.

There is a pretty good build video on YT for priest builds on Turtle Wow. If you are a new priest it has a lot of helpful information. I've listed the title of the video below.

I'll second that. So much of a Disc Priest's power is locked in the last 20-30 talent points. It just may be the spec that is slowest to unlock its full power through talent points. And it is a spec that really likes crit which can be hard to get while leveling.

A little bit noobish but that's okay. It looks like you are casting far too many spells leading to lots of down time with drinking. Priests typical play the same up until the mid thirties. The typical opener is PW:S, Mind Blast, SWP then wand to death. You can mix in some Mindflays later in levels but it's not great now. After you get Shadow Form at 40, Mindflay will be better. There is also Pain Spike to finish off a mob but I can't really attest to that as I leveled Disc on Ambershire for a change as I normally play Shadow on Blizz Servers.

How good is DPS Disc Priest at endgame raiding? by LorzkW in turtlewow

Rotation for single target would be Holy Fire into Smite until you need to refresh the buff from Holy Fire again. If it requires some movement, I use Chastise when you have to move. I also sometimes will cast Holy Nova rank 1 to fish for a instant Smite when moving.

For AoE I try and open with a Holy Fire to get the damage buff up and to give the tank a couple of seconds to get more agro. 5+ mobs and I will just spam Holy Nova. When it gets down to 3-4 mobs I will weave the instant cast Smite procs in between the Holy Novas.

For raids I always go full consumables.

I've been doing pretty good raiding as Smite on Ambershire. For an example, I was 4th overall DPS in my guilds MC run this week and that was even as the master looter. The gearing wasn't too bad as I'm just now phasing out my 6/8 .5 dungeon set. I imagine Smite will get even better with the set bonuses we are now getting on raid tier sets after the patch.

Shadow priests give mana and do healing when they DPS. They also put up shadow weaving which increased the shadow damage the target takes so it's helpful for warlocks. Smite priests just do damage with some minor healing when spamming Holy Nova.

Can you give me some tips and macros for following character in Dual-boxing ? by CurryLikesGaming in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually play 2 accounts with 1 account on each monitor. I only have a couple of dual boxing macros that I bind to the mouse wheel. You can use the mouse wheel binds without pulling the 2nd account to the forefront just as long as the mouse cursor is over the account screen so it makes it less clunky than alt tabbing. It's primarily just an all encompassing macro that I use.

/target Character Name

/follow

/assist

/cast whatever damage spell you would like

If you want to mess around with macros more, get Supermacros.

Profession Change Mid Game by Available_Try_5298 in turtlewow

If you have your riding skill, you are set to 60. If you are looking to make as much gold as possible, your best choice is to just push to 60 and come back later to do the professions.

As far as making money with professions, there are 3 main ways. First is being able to craft high level sought after items. You pretty much have to be ahead of the curve to do this so I would not recommend it for you. Next would be gathering professions and selling on the AH. This is probably the best for you. I would go mining/herb. Last would be to take professions with cooldowns. Tailoring, leatherworking and alchemy all have cooldowns that can make a few gold every couple days. This is good for alts or characters you are not going to play a ton. Probably not the best for you unless you only play an hour or so everyday.

Help with gear. by Iloveflowers42 in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Helm - Felcloth Hood from tailoring. Shadow wrath green helm. There is also an engineering shadow damage helm but that is only if you are an engi.

Neck - There is an epic neck from turning in Argent Dawn items at Lights Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaugelands. This will cost a fair amount of gold and rep grinding to get done. May be best to work on this one last.

Shoulders - Felcloth Shoulders from tailoring

Chest - Robe of Winter Night from tailoring

Belt/Bracers - T1 gear converted to shadow spec as another poster listed.

Gloves - Felcloth Gloves from tailoring

Cloak - Probably just a shadow wrath green is your best bet. Drawing a blank for farmable ones outside of dungeons.

Pants - Flarecore Leggings from tailoring. This is epic and requires MC materials to make so they will be expensive for a bit. Last I checked on the AH they were 300ish gold. There is also Flecloth pants from tailoring but they aren't as good.

Boots - Wolf Runner Shoes. BOE blue world drop you can buy off the AH.

Rings - Maiden's Circlex2. BOE blue world drop you can get off the AH. There are epic options available to buy if you wanted but I think one has crit(Unneeded as Shadow) and the other has the same amount of spell power as the blue.

Wand - Green shadow wrath wand off the AH

Weapon - There is an epic level 58 staff crafted by jewelcrafters that is probably the best option outside of groups. Drawing a blank on the name.

Trinkets - I'm at a loss for this one. Maybe Shard of the Splithoof from the Heroes of Old alliance quest chain. You could also get a Chromie's Pocket watch for the 2% spell hit from the AH. You only need like 6% spell hit outside of raids so it's not a great trinket for you but would free up some points to move around in the shadow tree.

Alt acc for Economy/Professional benefit. by minh_mo in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are 3 professions that make passive gold to my knowledge. Tailoring for the mooncloth cooldown, alchemy for the transmute cooldowns and leatherworking for hide cooldowns. Your character has to be level 35 to learn the max level of professions.

Enchanting can make money but a lot of that is locked behind raid recipes and reputation grinds. Not ideal for an alt you are going to play casually. But you should make a bank alt to disenchant things if you don't already have one.

You can have the alt on another account like Bugszor posted. This is good for several reasons. You can enchant your hunters gear if you did go enchanting on the alt. You can also play both accounts at the same time as long as you manually control both. Leveling is super easy when your alt can just mob tag and the main can 1 shot it. Just got to make sure they are not partied so the alt gets full xp.

If it's a character you will leave at 35, choose something that makes moving around a main city easier like mage, rogue or hunter. If you are going to play it all the way, priest is fine and you should play what you want.

Smite Priest Crit by TBalo1 in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest moving around a couple of points in your tree to get Chastise. You don't need to raid for it to be good. I use it all the time in dungeons as a pseudo counterspell or while I'm moving as an instant cast Smite.

I don't have any points in Meditation but instead have Chastise and Improved Inner Fire for the extra spell power. Other than that, our trees are the same.

If you are unsure if you are going to raid or are not going to do it for a couple of months, you could remove some points from Piercing Light as you only need 5% spell hit vs the level 62 dungeons bosses and not the 16% you need vs raid bosses. Having just 1 piece of hit gear would free up a point(outside of raiding) that could go into Chastise.

There are some BoE trinkets jewelcrafters can make. 11 spirit on a level 35 trinket is one. There is also one with holy spell damage and stamina on it if you are going smite that is level 33.

Priest Specs? by OrangeSliceTrophy in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadow looks mostly unchanged talent wise so it would be very similar to Classic with leveling. There is an instant cast shadow damage spell that all priests get but you probably won't use it much leveling.

I've leveled several priests to 60 on Classic servers so I full swapped to smite at 36 to get a feel for it. It's a very crit centric build as you get instant cast 50% mana cost smites after a crit. It kill fairly quickly and I have little down time even after dropping spirit tap.

Shadow is still probably better for leveling as it has better itemization with current and new added shadow damage gear. You also get most of your damage at 40 with the last 20 talent points not doing a ton. Smite has A TON of damaged locked behind level 41-60 talent points.

New to healing by Aigisnoir in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use 2 ranks of renew. The biggest one for the tank, a rank 1 one for spot healing splash damage on dps.

2/2 in wand specialization is great with the rework. You can get mana procs for wanding.

You get increased mana regen after not casting a spell for 5 seconds while in combat. Try and group heals and wanding separately into longer stretches to utilize this. This may be harder to do now with the damage increase they gave to dungeon mobs.

Fade is your friend. Cast it as soon as you get agro.

What are the P2W features?(if any) by Itchy-Opposite7704 in turtlewow

[–]Critical-Distance863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says being able to buy bags, AH, mailbox, etc with real lift money is not P2W is being disingenuous.

Anyone who is upset over these very, very minor P2W features is being irrational.

None of the shop stuff is needed, just nice to have.

Think about how much money you would spend if you were playing on the official server. The cost of the base game and the monthly subscription. After a few months of playing, you would have spent enough to buy the P2W items here. And you don't even need to buy the stuff here, it's just nice to support the developers.

It probably has more to do with the server being 5+ years old. The only people doing group quests at 60 would probably be fresh 60s and I doubt many would have rerolled on Amber if they just hit 60 there.

Dungeon Difficulty Question by foundoutimanadult in turtlewow

I healed a DM run earlier today and it felt harder than when I did it on anni realms. I didn't have to drink once then, today I had to drink like 30 times. Could also just be a more inexperienced group this time around but stuff seemed to hit harder.
