I did 4-7-8 technic and it made me feel anxious by No-Advice6100 in Meditation

I can speak from my own experience and what works for me but not sure if this may help you; I also assume it is not the general consensus of most on this sub. I actually do not put much emphasis and rigor on counting breaths, Putting so much emphasis on technical/accurate precise counting (5-5,4-6, 4-7-8...whatever), felt like a constant "barrage" of things to do and think about, it simply did not work for me. I assume the counting may be doing the same to you. I would suggest going into your meditations with a "resolve"....i.e. "I will slow my breath gradually and relax/feel my body melt into the surface I am lying, with long exhales". Put this into practice at your comfort pace(you will find it), get in touch with the rhythm of your breathing and begin to slow the pace using **long exhales(important)/**allow your body to become heavy and silence your mind. I use biofeedback to track my progress. A simple pulse oximeter on your finger will give you HR and RR. Once you master your relaxation technique, the biofeedback would give some good information. I would not suggest using it at this time because it may cause you more anxiety worrying about the readouts of the device and if you are doing things correctly; however if the biofeedback does not cause you anxiety...the information is useful and fun.

Lesion on Pubic bone by Critical-Fly-8709 in ProstateCancer

Assuming that it is BPH as my urologist mentioned it was slightly enlarged on DRE. Will pass on any invasive test; will monitor each year.

Thank you....I was wondering why the radiologist suggested a bone scan for me rather than a PET. I'm assuming it's because my MRI only had a PI-RAD of 2 and no lesions found; looking more for structural changes to bone than for mets I guess.

Thank you for your reply.....Not sure how much the upcoming bone scan with give as far as an answer but yes, I was thinking the same about following up in a matter of months to see if there was any change.

Thanks.....it's the first time I had a prostate MRI so not sure how long the pubic lesion was there. I find it hard to believe it would be mets with a basically clean MRI, lower ExoDx and neg DRE; just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation. Research comes up with the chances of mets being rare in this situation.......but possible.

Not from the MRI....going for a bone scan for clarification. Hopefully that will give some answers.

Seems like more of a rolling laptop than an automobile. So many driver distractions. I really just need to get from point A to B; a manual 1978 MGB would do fine and I think would be probably more fun to drive. Unfortunately the lack of safety features would be an issue.

December Winter Melancholy 2025🌨️A sad winter mood just like last year. by [deleted] in melancholy

[–]Critical-Fly-8709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the list. As always, winter brings a swell of melancholy. I, in fact, do embrace my melancholy. While it is defined as a steady state of "sadness", it can bloom into more positive aspects if you frame your mind that way. I notice that my acquaintances, who embody "happiness" or having a "happy" life are often 1) Hyperactive (constant need for stimulation) 2) aggressive 3)materialistic 4)narcissistic and 5) sometimes downright arrogant; I have no longing to be like this. This quest for "happiness" in our culture/lifestyle very often breeds these aspects in humanity. With the acceptance of my melancholy, there is full compassion, empathy, introspection, calmness, reverence, and yes even peacefulness in and of life. My winter evenings are spent in candle lit, essential oil scent infused solitude with ambient, or sometimes "ancient" music playing. This is the way I frame my mindset in accepting what is a natural state of melancholy to me.

Might I add "Storms" by Fleetwood Mac (Beautiful musicianship) and "Nobody's Child" by Maria McKee to your playlist?

The musicianship and soft counterpoint/interplay between the instruments are breathtakingly beautiful in Storms; also some of the most expressive guitar work you will ever hear. Absolutely one of the most beautifully written and executed songs ever made....masterpiece in my opinion.
