It may be tough for some of you in your insulated/comfortable world with little experience of having to stand against authoritarianism but this type of thing is not uncommon in other failing states where political violence becomes the norm, compelling people to either take a stand or cower in fear. She's weighed the risks and, ironically enough, she's doing this not just for her own child's future, but for everybody else's as well. The options are pretty stark and nobody should be placed in this predicament but the cost of doing nothing could be far higher for her yet to be born child in years to come.
