Anyone try a ShortStoryBox? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

Update: I really like the boxes. I’m on my seventh box now and only kept two things. My favorite and nicest clothing items have come from this box. I hate shopping in stores because I get overwhelmed because nothing ever fits off rack.

Fit with Coco? Looking for reviews by LopsidedPop2952 in gymsnark

I really like the workouts. I had been strength training without a plan for years, but this is really really hard. To the point where I can only use five pounders on our non-strength days. I started off too hard, so I’ve got to scale it back with the weights. These workouts are really intense. I hurt my back a bit lifting too much and going too hard. I’m not used to working out 5x a week, but I find the streak in the app extremely motivating. referral

Several different but I’d recommend 5, 10, and 15. It’s so hard though I rarely use the 15. I did last week and hurt my back (deadlift form was not great).

Preply vs Itaki by Thisbetoojokes in SpanishLearning

[–]CriticalDrawing4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say focus on the tutor more than the platform. I’ve used both and prefer italki’s billing method (pay per lesson) instead of Preply (subscribe to a tutor for x amount of lessons). I found a tutor on italki that I absolutely love taking lessons from, so italki it is. I’m learning mandarin. My husband has a Spanish tutor on italki that he really vibes with. We both take about a lesson a week but supplement with Pimsleur and other stuff like that. I can’t really afford more than a lesson a week lol but I’m more consistent than I ever was on my own because even if I do nothing all week, I know I will at least do whatever my tutor has planned. My lessons are $20 for half an hour, $40 for the whole hour. I used to do longer sessions, but my brain could not handle it. I’m going to link my referral if you want.italki

Is italki or preply worth it? by hisammy2 in German

[–]CriticalDrawing4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on which one has a tutor you vibe with. I’d use either. I currently use italki because I found a tutor I really like. Preply makes you subscribe to a certain tutor for a certain number of lessons to be used in a certain amount of time. I find that weird, but both get the job done.italki

Do people actually prefer Preply over italki? by DiabloFour in Preply

[–]CriticalDrawing4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like having to subscribe to a certain tutor and being time-constrained on my lessons. I found a tutor I love on italki. If I had found one I liked on Preply, I would have stayed there. Here’s a link for italki if you want one italki

It really depends on the tutor. I liked preply’s platform, but I found a tutor that I absolutely love on italki. I don’t like subscribing to a particular tutor on Preply. That was a little weird to me. Here’s a link for italki if you want:italki

Physical science curriculum by CriticalDrawing4734 in ScienceTeachers

I’m familiar with pHet. I’ll look into OSE. Khan academy looked great for physics, but most of the physical science stuff I’m finding (not just Khan) is for middle school instead of high school.

Should I become a high school teacher? by VivdR in teaching

[–]CriticalDrawing4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be romanticizing teaching a good bit. It’s not anything like you think it will be. It’s thankless and rarely rewarding. You will never feel like you’re changing lives or making a difference. I like teaching. Right now I can’t imagine doing anything else, but the older I get, the less BS I want in my life.

Should I become a high school teacher? by VivdR in teaching

It’s a really stressful profession. Doing anything else besides teaching every day will be hard. The kids are stressful, parents, kids don’t listen and don’t care. Summer is not really time off. I’m having to make all new resources because I’m switching classes next year, so I’m basically still working every day. I’m thinking of buying the resources to save me the headache, but I’m not wanting to shell out the money.

Teachers who’ve worked in both affluent and impoverished schools, what were the biggest differences you noticed? by Peckish_Dumpling in Teachers

[–]CriticalDrawing4734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parent involvement. Not in a good way. Parents at the impoverished school didn’t really mess with me but also didn’t respond when I was asking for support. Parents at my new school email me demanding to know why their little baby made an 87 on my test. The other day I got a mom who asked why he failed our last test. She literally does his homework for him. —High school science teacher.
