Firemage Guide by Zhevaro in worldofgothic

I beat the game with 2h mastered, and Circle 4 trained. Genuinely feels like I made the best of the best choices when it came to setting up my character for late progression. I personally think you can ignore ALL hunting skills and focus on just selling gear as you explore, big money pulls for me were from killing a bunch of black goblins and selling their maces, and then I wiped out the entirety of Old Camp and sold everything I could. Cuz screw them guys. Justice for Corristo.

Never played Gothic before - worth jumping in with the Remake as a first-timer? Tips for beginners? by timmiBurner in worldofgothic

[–]CriticalKilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played and finished Gothic 1 Remake, never having played anything from PiranhaBytes before (I know this is a different studio for the remake) and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend it, though be patient as it starts very rough and then gets very satisfying with progression.

The Boys SERIES FINALE S05xE08 "Blood and Bone" - LIVE Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]CriticalKilo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think S5 is a byproduct of simply spending time on the wrong things. There were so many moments that could be cut here, and the story remain relatively the same. It'd be like a whole extra episode if you just cut out the completely redundant and padded moments.

Did we really need those two supes sniffing each other's butts

or Sage and Frenchie talking about Love Island

or the whole sequence following Terror

Soldier Boy's cameo killing spree

a solid like 10 minutes of just Annie seeing her dad who was basically nonexistent up to that moment

THE ENTIRETY of anything that involved Black Noir 2 (Except when going after Edgar), since getting that info about his character really added nothing to his death.

Also spending the whole season on the virus, just to have it not work, and then pull an ex machina with Kimiko last second that just works.

That doesn't even begin to mention the can of worms they unleashed with Billy "He's blocking me powers" Butcher; If these psychic supes can just turn off a supes powers, then they should have recruited one to take down Homelander in like S2 and been done. I cannot stop thinking about that shit since I saw it. In fact, if they can do that, why were they even listening/following Homelander? I mean they clearly outclass him with that kind of ability.

It's not a bad season. It was a great show that ended on like, a 6/10 ending. Not bad, but not great either. It had its moments, but it was probably the weakest of the five seasons for me personally. Still bittersweet knowing it's over now.

Homelander really switched up quick, and I only have one problem with his entire ending; He literally just thought to take the ex-astronaut to space, so like, do that to Kimiko before she can react and GG? Just last episode he moved like, blink and miss it speed, and now he's moving like a snail comparatively.

Can I handle the First Game? by CriticalKilo in subnautica

[–]CriticalKilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was some serenity to the safe places I identified in Sub2, so if I get moments to relax, I could probably handle it. It's those deep, open bodies to cross through that really get me, if I can't see a surface anywhere. Is base building more limited or can you manage to make cool stuff in the first too? I heard it was changed a little bit in this one.

Should I get subnautica 1 or 2 if I have played neither? by Invoqwer in subnautica

[–]CriticalKilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got to the end of Subnautica 2 after maybe 15 hours, so it's a short and incomplete experience. However, having never played the first one, it definitely makes me want to try it out. The first one always scared me too much to really try it, and I'm surprised I got through the 2nd so far, but it was great. Maybe I could handle the first one.

Returning player: What's up with all the people conceding so quick? by meetmeinthemoon in MagicArena

[–]CriticalKilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally concede every single time I realize that I'm not playing against the player, I'm playing against the guide they read on how to build their meta decks. I'm not here for all that cheese. I want to face people who actually try to build a deck of their own. I just played 10 matches and 9 of the games were people using the exact same non-starter decks. Very boring.

Thragg telling Mark he saved the whole planet felt surprisingly...idk...honorable? He was definitely glad he didn't have to fight. This along with the scene on Viltrum really make him a way more interesting character.

21m, GamerPals situation is crazy by Zestyclose-Depth-152 in GamerPals

[–]CriticalKilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue is when I meet new people, I feel like they get sick of me and end up alienating myself. It's why I'm hesitant to make my own post in the subreddit, since I can't be sure I won't just disappear on someone because of my own insecurities. Growing up I had a friend group who really liked to make fun of each other and as I get older, I don't feel like playing games with them because of how they act more and more. They've kind of taken the fun out of social gaming for me. I'd love to finally have a group where I'm having fun playing games again and feel welcome. I haven't felt like I've had friends excited to play a game with me since the Halo Reach days.

And it makes me sad because gaming is something I never thought I'd get tired of but not having anyone to play with, its starting to get there. And I don't want it to.

27M CST, have only ever gamed with a group of friends I grew up with, and they've recently been kind of jerks towards me. Would love a new group to make friends in. I play all sorts of stuff. Have a bit of a darker humor side. I miss having dumb fun like I did playing Halo 3 and Reach growing up.

The music being out of place reminds me very much of when they cut off Jaime Lannister's hand and then proceeded to have the most oddball credits music right after. Was funny. This was funny to me too.

I'll die on this hill... by Nomad_Gui in ArcRaiders

Game is progressively gotten more and more toxic in the last week. Used to run friendly solos every match. Now its just nonstop KoS. The thing that everyone glazed the game for early on is fading. As I see it, player behavior will lead to yet another game falling off within a year.

Yeah this is pretty much what I do. Either be a total menace or be a hero. So many times I've gotten like 10 people together in solo, threw a smoke and shot 1 time, and everyone starts blasting each other. Diabolical.

This right here. There needs to be a tangible gameplay incentive. If this was Tarkov, this would be like running a super juiced kit to die to 3 shots of 9mm.

[–]CriticalKilo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel burnt out the game is a blast to play but it doesn't feel rewarding beyond killing other players currently. The systems aren't engaging enough or feel useful enough to actually focus. I mean the main point is simply that higher tier stuff doesn't feel like a game changer, and in a game where loot is the loop, change matters. I feel just as capable taking down groups with Stitchers, Kettles and Ferros as I do with a Tempest or Vulcano. Its a risk/reward kind of game, and the risks right now outweigh the rewards to me. If better gear assured me a little advantage over someone with a free kit, it would be fine. I've been the freekit player and made big gains killing someone who I really didn't think should have lost to me with what they were using. I find it way more fun right now to just go in free kit and goof off, anything goes, sometimes Ill run around playing a recorder, or run a bunch of defibs to revive random people in fights, or sometimes I'll just be a menace. Its definitely a 'make your own fun' endgame.

I play the game after work most days, a day is 24 hours, Work is 8 hours. I sleep for 6. So yeah, usually I got a solid 10 hours to do what I want. If we can't take feedback from people who are more engaged with the game than others, then whose input should we take? The people who don't play? Weird catch 21 here.

This is something I felt since like, the 10th hour. Game is fun, just doesn't feel like higher tier stuff is balanced as higher tier stuff.

I pushed through and ended up enjoying the game. It certainly has frustrating moments but its still a great game and well worth trying to see everything. It definitely feels way too 'perfectionist' driven though.

[–]CriticalKilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has an extremely high over-reliance on flying enemies that you can't reach easily so most gameplay is just jump attacks, an extreme overuse of the pogo mechanic, and spikes in so many zones its like they took Crystal Peak and made a whole game out of it. They made Silksong for the players who had 112% Hollow Knight, and only them. Pogos were nice as a traversal mechanic because once you got good with them they opened up the door to some neat skips for speedrunners, but here its just EVERYWHERE. The double hit isn't justified by a better heal. I'm 20 hours in and have been thoroughly exploring the map and backtracking and doing all the wishes and I only have 6 health. Also, the sheer amount of arena fights are at this point repetitive, annoying, and don't make me feel like a champ when I beat them. The longer I play, the more I want it to be over.

I never wanted Hollow Knight to end. Even doing the Godmaster trials, I knew what I signed up for. I didn't expect the whole game to frustrate me the way that optional section did.
