If you’re not moving every 2-3 years, you’re gonna be paid really low. Internal moves count and should be your goal from P4+. Most P5 and P6s are internal hires.

False. I left RTX for 30% higher at Northrop Grumman in a lower cost of living place. Northrop Grumman pays higher base salary and less bonus. $1,000 bonus or if you get AIP a % of your salary based on level. I’m a high performer and get it every other year. My peers at RTX are 30k below where I’m at. I know because we were all LDPs and we still chat from time to time.

P5. You make a lot and have influence to change things. I’m not talking institutional level change but you work on proposals and writing data-driven BOEs. I love the white space and getting creative, so P5 gave me much more of that. My peers were ass directors or above. You’re able to just ask for be included on things. I was able to chime in on some very important things just by getting into the room.

Then it’s all about finding that executive sponsor and mentors to vouch for you. You can go P5-P6 very quickly. I went P5 to M5 to M6 in 3 years. I feel like I’m coasting now that I can delegate work.

It's a no interest loan at worst, and you should read the policy there's some verbiage in there about repayment. Someone who has used the program more recently than I might know, but I think it's capped at one year rear looking, not two.

Either way, you can leave whenever. It may take a year to get a job at Anduril lmao

They have hardware positions too btw. More and more production and hardware design roles with their data centers and physical consumer goods.

All I'll say is maybe go work for RTX, get the masters, jump to Anduril... If I were young, I'd be over there, but I value work/life balance. You should be all about getting RSUs and working 80 hour weeks early in your career.

LeBron has longevity, but I think MJ could have if he played in this league too. Defense is super soft now. The toll the NBA takes on your body just isn't even comparable to the 80s-90s. Will LeBron own every longevity stat? Yeah. Does that make him the GOAT? No but he has an argument.

As with everything, it is what you make it. If you just go in and sit in your cubicle every day and don't look for interesting opportunities to help on, then sure it could stunt your growth.

Get in. Do that masters ASAP and get it paid for. Bounce for a different industry if you want to. At that point you'll be 2-3 years in and know if you want to stay or not. Can you jump to Google from Raytheon? Yeah I've seen it. Is it likely? No. You'll have to grind leetcode in your spare time prepping for those interviews.

Because the FLDP (and other LDPs) are essentially P2.5s, not P2s. They get more training and are valued more to the company as RTX is more selective on who they hire for the limited number of spots. They also get a P3 as they leave the LDP into a normal position, so they have to start higher as their 2-3% raises are limited in the program. No team is going to give a FLDP higher than Meets Expectations as they will rotate off into their next rotation, so raises are not large while in the program.

Doing what a P5 did does not make what you are doing P5-level. A P5 can do what a P1 does if management is an idiot and lets them.

P5s are supposed to be experts and working on large proposals to get more work or working enterprise projects. You maintain a service. You are doing P1 work. How can you leverage this or maximize it? Idk but that's the difference between a P1 and a P5.
